OK, so I only learned this yesterday after weeks of frustration at not being able to watch streams on my iPad via Twitch TV. I am a computer noob, so I didn't really understand what Flash was except for the constant reminders that my device didn't support the thing and the result of trying to use the rubbish Twitch TV app that offered a really poor resolution when using my device with WIFI. I then bought an android device yesterday (Google Nexus 7) thinking it was an Apple issue, and joy upon joy, same friggen deal. Not a happy bunny. Back to the forums I went, hoping for a solution...
So anyway, I am reading this interesting article which provides at least 1 argument for why Flash is not supported on these devices - something I didn't realise until now http://www.appsflix.com/10/1/Photon-...SkyFire-Review. In summary, it sounds like Flash is resource heavy and the tablets don't allow you to use them because it excessively taxes the processor and the battery life.
What I didn't know is that there are web browers out there that are Flash enabled (i.e. they process the Flash for you and convert it to html 5 or whatever - don't quote me on the technical stuff) which means they can translate the Flash for you and send the compatible version to your tablet/ phone.
I tried out Puffin yesterday and it was OK (I saw a decent resolution and actually got a video playback which was great) but there were a few bugs (the clicking doesn't work that well, and some windows like the full screen in the bottom right doesn't work properly). I have since found out that there is another one called Photon https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/phot...430200224?mt=8 and it has received better reviews and I am going to try it out. The only downside atm is that these app browsers are not free (e.g. the Photon one costs $5.50) but I think it is probably worth it. See below for a review on these browsers: http://ipod.about.com/od/bestiphonea...h-Browsers.htm
Hopefully this is helpful to anyone out there that is currently struggling to stream content on their tablets or play/ use anything that requires Flash (e.g. flash based games).
