Team Iris is extremely proud to announce the opening of a Starcraft II Academy division!

The academy is an effort to help grow the Starcraft II scene in New Zealand, by giving the opportunity to players across the country to improve their play and become top-tier players. Our intention is to develop a group of players who are able to compete strongly on a local, regional and even worldwide level, and to forge a stronger competitive scene within the country.

Members of the academy spend time practising and analysing games with fellow academy members, as well as the three main team players. The main team members also provide builds and strategic analysis for the academy players, as well as providing their own replays as a means of learning.

So far, the academy has taken on four trial members (and today, a 5th), who over the last few weeks have already improved rapidly. Of particular note is JD, who had a great run to the Ro8 in WT Weekly 36, beating names such as FaDeVenosaur and Azz before falling to cRKingKong. Newest recruit, MightyKiwi, also placed a respectable 4th at the recent Barcraft Wellington tournament, behind the three main roster members.

The academy roster is not complete, however! We are still accepting applications, you simply have to be from New Zealand and of at least (though preferably // level). Applications to join can be made out to teamiris@sc2nz.com , just let us know a few things about yourself, how often you're playing Starcraft II, what you want to achieve in Iris and why we should pick you for the Iris Academy.
