3 gate robo, by the time his 4 gate arrives you have an inmortal and some units. If he isnt 4 gating then you expand. Atleast thats what I saw white-ra do for a week .
You can do the 3 stalker rush, (13gate,14gas,19gate - wg + stalker chrono'd) allows for transition into almost any build, most notably 4gate or blink stalkers.
I also do a 3gate robo expo build, (gate, robo, gate, expo, gate). This is a double gas build so you can afford robo units + sentry.
You CAN hold 4gate or 3gate aggresion, blink w/wo obs. If there is a blink timing, you should have 1 immortal out (after obs) and a 2nd obs on the way, as well as a good amount of gateway units (mainly zel + few sentry + stalkers as you will be using gas for robo tech)
I've had good sucess holding blink all ins, blink obs, and gateway pushes. Of course it also heavily lies on control / decison making. With this build your always defensive and scouting, only being aggresive with the first zel + stalker (mainly to scout/ pick off probes trying to place proxy)
Recommend on bigger maps (shakuras). Remember if your opponent has a larger army (all in 4gate for example) and you know you cant hold, retreat to your main (even better if there is a ramp) and tech (maybe to collosus) or do some -special tactics-. They wont be able to bust your ramp and tihnk that your not far behind, they may have destroyed your '400' min nexus but you've probably mined for gas - meaning more tech paths.
Personally i'm a fan of 3 gate robo, occasionally warping/blinking in units with an obs to damage his eco. dependent on map you have the option of quickly blinking out also.
Something I had done on me a while ago was a cannon rush, but I stopped it at my natural however while destroying that he got a few cannon's just outside of my ramp.
Just grab an immortal or two and a couple of stalkers, cannon's will be a piece of cake leaving you free to push up while he regains supply
A little different from all these ideas, try going into a custom game vs ai over and over and refine your 4gate.. It should be super tight and will win 100% of your games in gold if you execute it cleanly..
Also try playing super aggressive with the first zealot/stalker and try to offensive pylon and get your first warpin inside their base.. dealing with super aggressive 4gates is what a lot of people have trouble with and you should learn how to execute/defend it
Keep in mind pvp is always a very volatile matchup and can lose just by simple timing decisions or when you choose to tech. It's always nice to open with atleast the ability to defend a 4gate whilst still being able to maintain a lead depending on what tech you choose.
My standard opener is
9 pylon
12 gate
14 gas
15 pylon
16 cybernetics
17 gas
18gate
19/20 warpgate (drop all chronos)
1 stalker, pylon, sentry then another stalker from second gate.
After that choose whatever tech you like. Just keep in mind that if the 4gate does come the tech will have to be slightly delayed as you constantly crank sentries. It's important to constantly check if it's not a fake as you can over spend on making sentries and in essence get behind in tech!
