no more 4 gates in PvP???

So i've noticed in a lot of the pvp's that i've played on ladder, no one seems to be going 4 gate anymore (this is at plat level btw).

I mean i once stole someone's gas to force the 4gate, and he just expanded (which was clever and i really should have won that match T_T)

so are most protoss in SEA just not 4 gating anymore? And everyone is now going 1 base colo?

hmm nearly all my pvp matches are 4 gates, and im really hoping this changes with the new patch, pvp has been the worse matchup to play since beta

Probably because people at your level either suck balls at video games and don't know about 4gate (entirely possible) or just that you've hit a hot streak of people who just got fed up with 4 gate and want to try something different.

Impossible to say, but as a Terran player I do welcome any nerf to warpgates!

Mmmm, i hope they really do find a decent fix for PvP, although nerfing warpgates and buffing zealot buildtime would just screw up the other matchups.

Id have to say 4 gate is still around but if ur defending 3 gate works fine with also a tech like blink or immortals so it os around but maybe a change might come

Most of my PvP matches, i always try my best to go with a defensive 4 gate build, or perhaps get a quick robo out and build a couple of Immortals to defend the rush.

I'm a fan of defensive 4gating moreso than a 4gate all in (or even a Korean 4gate). Personally, I prefer to use the 4 gate against a high econ zerg build (like Spanishiwa's build). But as a whole I still 4gate just not aggressively anymore.

I still think that they cant nerf the 4gate, I stand by that idea it would be impossible making the majority of the match ups imba. I mean you can quite simply defend against a 4gate, its quite simple it isnt an OP build at all. Its just quite effective is used correctly....

with the extra 40 secs it takes to make the wargate research you could always put down a 5th gate? 5 gates the new 4gate baby.

It's not about the amount of gates you put down, but the amount of gates your income can support. 5 gates is even more all in then 4 gates.

According to Day[j], one can only support a 4 gate for 1:30 in game minutes...
The proposed patch probably means you can get out 1-3 extra units before the warp gates are done, since you'll mayeb have time to get a unit out of your 3 gateways that should be done before warpgate finishes.
However i think that if they do add the reduced build time for training, you could probably have an extra cycle or two worth of units out before the 4 gate is ready. Not 100% sure on my maths though. So 4 gate may still exist, just with more units on either side
