Replacing
Celestialcat was replaced with Xalaphax upon request. I granted it as Celestialcat had not shown up after 15 minutes and the other player was okay with Xalaphax replacing Celestialcat.
Official Statement Regarding Ryze
Not playing his ladder race - Plays '' on ladder but plays
According to Ryze, he prefers playing Zerg and the ONLY reason he plays Random/Terran/Protoss is to better understand the matchup of ZvT and ZvP. In addition, I do not know if there was an issue last week but he played last week AS a ZERG. There are some other things that require some deliberation within the Admin team as well as some others cause there is some conflict here
Smurfing
We here at the BSG Open take smurfing as a VERY SERIOUS OFFENCE as it not only is a breach of trust to the Admins but to the other players, the site and the community as a whole.
Ryze was suspected to be at least to level.
First complaints came as Ryze was moved into the Quarterfinals. Looking at the replays and the reasoning brought forward, I decided to keep an eye as well as watch whatever replays were given to me. Further and more forward complaints were brought after he had won over Tribewafer.
As I was the Admin for the night (many thanks to Spartaz/Sleep for helping out with the initial flood), I made my decision based on the following.
Match History - His match history has a mix bag of Unranked, BSG and ex-Platinum now in Gold players. This makes the determination of his true league inconclusive.
Gameplay - While his mechanics of the game is questionable for this level, it can also be said that it is entirely possible for a BSG to have this level of skill and still be a legitimate BSG.
Also, it is very hard to maintain a completely unbiased stance when looking through the replays without getting outside assistance (not saying you guys are biased). Looking at the replays, it came to me as inconclusive.
Information and Compliance - After questioning him about his laddering habits, Ryze has agreed to Rank Ladder as a Zerg and Unrank Ladder for his other offracing needs.
Lastly, I gave him the benefit of the doubt as there was no issue last week when he played and won (as far as I know).
It is/was a nice for a change that I did not have players coming to me cursing away AT and ABOUT me as well as the player in question. I extend my thanks to the players involved for showing this level of maturity. for once
If anyone is unhappy with my decision and would like that I step down, please PM me and I will do so promptly. I am no tyrant nor biased prick. I try my best to keep the peace and make sure the tournament is an enjoyable experience despite my absence in most.

I dont think it was an issue for you to step down whatsoever, i doubt anyone is asking you that... that needs to not be brought up again.
Regardless of what he wants to play as (and i've been in 20 bsg tournaments now?) i've always been told you play the race your ladder shows. In this case his was Random, he should be playing random as his race. TheRested who is a random player in the BSG plays as Random for his race without issue.
Asrath's last BSG she was doing a similar situation came up and this was the ruling, play the race your ladder is. You can only then switch to the race you play once your icon has changed in your ladder.
There have also been issues in the early days of me playing BSG where a person wanted to play protoss, but his icon was something else, the player was told to be the current race he was for that as well... i can't remember names i just remember the situation unfolding, so this last paragraph is just words i guess?
Ryze has now won two in a row...(has only done two BSG's) the only other person i know who's won 2 in a row is Bluey, who've none of us has seen since.

Btw his match history 2 weeks ago showed he was playing Protoss and was under 100 apm on average.
Then you see him go on a MASSIVE WINNING streak where his apm was >150 as Terran, Zerg and at one or two cases, Protoss.
To be honest, it's not really that conclusive, however it does seem like someone else is playing on it. And whoever that someone else is, is the one playing in the Opens.

That's because I personally had Shockwave look at it and he found it was inconclusive so I didn't see a point in further discussing it around then.

Reason: Format and grammar.

Thats normal. Ask any toss player, they're apm will be way lower then the other races. Protoss dosent have a production pattern to increase APM like terran and zerg have.
A toss's apm will spike drastically if you hit late game and are constantly warping in from 10+ gates.

Yes, I know that if you Random, you Random. However, again, last week he played Zerg and there was no issue. Once I had that cleared up, I decided not to press further.
Portraits can be very misleading, especially if you've had enough games. Portraits that come from the EXP earned to me means jack cause I can just go play a bunch of Team Games and then roll around with a Kerrigan portrait no?
And I'm pretty sure Reyze and Bluey are not the only guys who have won two (or even more) BSG Opens. Back to back, not to sure but I do recall some players winning back to back. Might need to look into that.
Ultimately, my decision, my responsibility.

I looked at it, it was mind boggling and I was very skeptical. Once I had questioned him about why he goes Random, I put it as circumstantial.
Possibility of someone else playing has come up but because it is difficult at times to be sure that it is indeed someone else without proper and full analysis (we're talking about Pros analysing a 1080p long page of replays). And given the time frame, I, and only I, can say it would not have no effect except in the future.
Good to know it was brought up and settled, somewhat.
Again, I can only say I take sole responsibility.

Some events could not have been avoided. It is unfortunate but never the less happened.
Again, I take sole responsibility.
EDIT: I would also like to add that while APM can be used as an indicator or a warning sign, please do not, AT ALL COST just make a complaint/report based on APM. It is highly flimsy. In fact, it is so flimsy my dead grandfather who is six feet under could possibly fart and blow it around the world a kazillion times over. Seriously, do not just use APM as a reason. As a indicator or warning sign, go ahead. Anything more and I (and most likely I) will only give you a fraction of the attention actually required.
