Last night was my 1 month anniversary of getting Diamond for my 1v1. I think it was my 4th day of playing.
A lot of 2s diamond followed swiftly after.
I celebrated it that day by jumping up and down ecstatically. What can I say? Diamond is a girl's best friend.
Last night, I celebrated it by reminding myself how not to take it for granted. Very unfortunately, I have stopped playing 1s after losing 12 games in a row 2 weeks ago.(What was I thinking?!?!)
Anyway, on accord that it was 1 month since I got diamond, I am going to go back to playing 1s.
So goodbye to all my 2s, 3s, and 4s partner. I don't even know why I play 4s anyway, it's such a huge mess, and no one ever coordinates well enough, the games are so long, often going up to 200 food. Argh.
I guess I was at my "4 diamond on my profile page" phase.
But, from today forth, I shall train a lot a lot of 1s.
Whats more someone promised to train me.
\o\
So, guys, share your diamond experience.
When was the first time you got it?
How long after you started did you get it?
Are you still maintaining it?
Who do you meet on ladder that peeves you off?
DISCUSS!!
Love, Kelly.

My first Diamond experience was I believe my 8th game playing sc2 (first 5 games ever played were my 5 placements, then I went 8-0 and got diamond). After that I didn't play for a few weeks, played again and started losing. Then I didn't play for a few weeks then played again and got to a 50% score.... After that I played again a few weeks later and got to 53%... It's really been a pretty awful experience.. Just looking at my record makes me sick to my stomach.. but I can't expect anything else since I don't have a computer capable of running sc2 =( Anyways so my Diamond was beyond easy to accomplish, but without sufficient practice, it was hard to get over 1k points with 4 days of play spread between 2 months.
*SAD*

My diamond expereince was when bnet was still buggy and if u kept winning, you would be stuck in platinum with tons of points. If you loss, you would get promoted to diamond faster. Anyway i was still stuck in platinum and whining till i met glade on ladder like 7 times in a row and got ROFLSTOMPED!!
Shortly after, i finally got promoted to diamond!
When i got #1 for the first time in my league i was so happy i put on my favourite hat, crossed my arms and stared at the screen for 20 hours. I also took a screenshot obv! and i still have it! Here it is. I believe GLaDe was still stuck in platinum at that time haha!!
i Remember that happening. Nirv was at my house when he got to the top of our diamond ladder. He kept sitting there in a daze looking at the ladder standings and nodding his head.
I said. TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF IT, PUT AS DESKTOP WALLPAPER!!. make sure to use paint to put a square around his first place position <--- THATS ME!!!
It was the 2nd week after i bought SC2 i guess. i was in army, first week i completed the campaign using the very limited weekend timing. then i went to play 50 practice match. i kept losing i dont understand why.
Then i give up. im sick of playing in normal speed with destructible rocks. then i went. i won all placement match and thought it was rather easy. i got into plat and diamond shortly after. probably because at the end of 2nd week better players have already gone to diamond.
And i kept playing and win most of the game. I got rank one the day i got into diamond hahaha. that was history tho. now the 3 terrans are competing the first place with me and its very hard to play against better diamond players. Damned. Though i've made very good friend with the 1st in my division, OopsJava. im glad he overtook me though, so that there is competition. now i dont know whether to laugh or cry, i play just to compete for the rank 1 title again . dont be mistaken, my division is very lousy, just the few of us at the 1.2 1.3k points mark ^^
Here's mine. Got the game and immediately went to play it. As one would have expected, that day the game was flooded with all the hardcore people so I naturally got stomped and went into platinum. Got into diamond a couple of weeks later after a winning streak of 8+ games. And now with university in full swing I'm pretty much inactive, don't really have the time to sit down and play. Good thing I got my diamond before I entered uni.
2 days after the game came out I decided to pick it up; never playing much SC1 before but my friend urged me to buy the game, so I did. Played a few practise matches but got bored quickly so jumped into the ladder. Went 5-0 on my placement matches then hovered around rank 40 in platinum, with a 50% w-l rate as terran.
I got bored of terran though (probably more to do with my inexperience than anything else - I was only going MM ball because it worked ;P) and switched to zerg.
MAN was that a harsh slap. Lost like 5 games in a row and got demoted into gold. But I kept working on it and quickly I was winning all my games and got repromoted to platinum, and soon after into diamond.
I have now started playing protoss and am enjoying it immensely . Currently am on a 8 win streak with them and anxiously awaiting to get destroyed again, because its bound to happen lol
Thumbs up to everyone who has shared their diamond experience! Definitely excited to meet you guys on the ladder. Right now I'm practicing 3 hours a night on custom 1v1. Keep the stories coming!

Kelly hasn't been 1v1-ing the last few nights! she's been messing around on ustream and skype and playing massive 3v3 4v4s
Anyhow my diamond story.
I had three friends sharing my beta account, because I was the only lucky one to get it from the whole bunch of us that signed up. One of them were in US and he managed to get placed in platinum really early on in the beta, unfortunately he had a 2-3 day headstart on me and he was playing imba terran with the original free conc shell marauders.
When I started on beta phase 1, I just kept getting (proxy) reapered / (proxy) marauded, roached (1 food roach!) or proxy 2gated to death on plat ladder as a protoss and I dropped all the way to silver, until I found out how to get stalkers early and effectively used chrono boost, at the end of the beta phase 1, I was still a strugging mid gold. I played abit in beta phase 2, but was still only in gold, quite crap cos didn't know how to transition to midgame.
Then Phase 2 ended, and I went into withdrawal. And I went around googling everything, just to get my starcraft fix. and I found Husky, HD and day9 dailies. Day9 is the man! (and this is a link to his episode archive on a teamliquid thread) If you haven't heard of him, and you're you need to go watch his stuff. Because he is just that awesome.
So it was during the first few days after retail started, when I managed to go 5-0 on placement, sending me to a Plat Division, and I ended up mucking around in plat again not heading anywhere. However after that, I managed to finish watching the King of the Beta stuff and backtracked to watching Day9's WhiteRa special (#147, #148, #149), I think shortly after that, probably between 1-4 August, I managed to get diamond by being a 1-2 trick pony vs each race, lol! (all you protoss players out there, go watch the whitera specials, and then keep watching day9, for a more complete view on protoss and hopefully, you will be able to transition out of being a 1-2trick pony into a 5-6trick pony and beyond )

Life is short, why waste it on sleep.
Hmm. I never intended to pick up sc2 as i still play wow. But with farming all the content left in the game, i found myself with alot of free time. I also bought a new computer and thus i decided to give this game a try. The race i chose was protoss, cos apparently the workers could summon buildings and leave it. i kind of liked that idea.
Despite not playing in the beta, I jumped straight into 1v1 skipping the practise league with no idea how to play the game and ended up in silver. With my wc3 background, i was able to pick up the game relatively quickly and got promoted to gold very soon after placement. However, i found myself struggling with effective strategies then i stumbled upon the a strat... the 4 GATE. and from there. i started beating alot of players and moved into the diamond league soon after. entering a relatively new diamond division, i quickly took first place and have held it since. I found out there was another player using the exact same ID as myself, ForDarkness and did not want to lose out, one of the reasons i pushed myself to learn new strategies and improve my gameplay bit by bit and has allowed me to achieve 1700 points in diamond thus far, and i think it should continue to increase in the future. need to practice and improve more! =D
i have so many screenshots of my rank 1 diamond its hilarious. =D
