Smiley: Thumbs up Terran Teaching: Providing Free Help to All Terrans!

Hey guys!

My name is Sam Creamer and I have struggled to find anybody dedicated to helping terrans so that is what I shall do. I am a grandmaster player on SEA server and high master on NA server. I live in Canada.

I have some strat videos up on my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TerranTeaching

If you have any questions or would like free coaching, I am more than willing to provide free services if I can be of any help. I am consistently up to date on the meta game of all three matchups and can help in that sense.

SEA: nRvRemaerc.171
NA: TqLRemaerc.858

Add me on SC2 for any questions, I'll also check this website if you want to PM me here. I can help you guys achieve that promotion whether it's getting out of bronze or leveling to master!

I'd like to go over tvt openings. At the moment I prefer reaper expand up to 3 rax and then into dropships/3rd/5rax/double upgrades as standard, but I don't know which order I should go for these things in. I've been trying out a lot of stuff but I still dont know whats best.

I like that as well. I get 3reapers and go into 3rax fast +1 upgrade. also getting the fast ebay thwarts any banshee play early on. If the opponent goes into mech play, I can easily play bio. if the opponent goes into marine tank, well I believe I'm ahead in marine upgrades and dropships and I have the mobility advantage

TvT openings are pretty coin flippy, and every builds have ups and downs with counters. For example, 3 reaper delays stim a lot compare to 1 reaper. And any reaper expo into 3 rax stuff generally is weak against fast tank contain with air control. But you can get scouting info which allows u to adjust stuff, and fast marine upgrades can makes marines very cost efficient.

Try to learn different openings on different maps and make changes according to your scouting info.

Finally someone else who thinks that earlygame TvT is coin flippy. At long last....

Actually, marine opening is very good against marinetankair opening if you scout it and move out and catch it out of siege. You actually get combat shield first which is an amazing defensive upgrade. I've noticed that 1/1/1 is common on SEA in high level in TvT. That's why I open marines

very map dependent, and u need scvs with you most of the time when u move out

yes, but on two OC's and your opponent is borderline all in, it's a good move and it puts you way ahead. Trust me, I do this very very often.

I'll be very impressed if u win most your games with reaper FE into 3 rax vs marine tank builds.
And you're thinking one particular form of marine tank build. There's a lot of variations from 5 min FE, 7-8 min marine tank, 9 min marine tank, cloak banshee into 1/1/1 , just to name a few

I'm only Diamond but reaper into 3 rax with a fast +1 (Learnt it from Kang at a lan) is my goto TvT. You have to be very aware of what your opponent is doing though. But If you know for certain that they are doing a 1 base tank all in moving to the centre of the map once you have combat shields is a pretty easy way of dealing with it (assuming you can keep your marines in a concave as you engage). If they make it to my natural because I am oblivious or something, I wait for plus 1 if it is not too far away and run at them with all my marines and scvs. You lose a lot but 2 orbitals means you can usually afford it.

It all comes down to map awareness. Holding this kind of 1 base play in TvT for me is usually just a question of whether or not I was holding the towers that game.

I do reaper expo with fast upgrades for "standard macro" build, but it's pretty hard to fend off stuff like banshee 1/1/1 and 7-8 min tank build, especially on certain tank maps. Also, it's obviously weak vs 5 reaper w/ or w/e helion medivac. Depends on map and spawn pos, but i wouldn't say reaper expo counters marine tank stuff like remaerc is saying.

Pretty impressed, maybe ur opponents suck at banshee micro like me? I usually get stomped vs banshee marine tank in maps like antiga close pos if i try a reaper expo.

Well I'm GM on SEA and I actually win a lot of my TvT's because I know that everyone does that build. and I DO put reactors on the barracks before making marines out of them. You just have to make sure you know when they're coming because if the tank isnt sieged they have fewer and worse marines than you. what's a banshee to few marines? I'll try and fish up some replays from SEA and ill get back to you guys

Its not a hard counter. If you read it, you can stop it though. With 3 reapers, you can have stim and combat shield finished around that time (combat shield should be first). Most people throw reactors on their rax's and this is a time when you shouldnt. Just pump those marines. Just send 1 scv out on the map down a path they would generally advance, with your marines outside your base ready to concave. If you feel you dont have enough marines pull a few scv's, and when they get close enough charge in spread BEFORE siege happens, should crush it pretty simply (think ZvT lings vs this thing). I sometimes throw down 2 extra raxes instead of reactors and spend that gas on quicker ups.I dont take gas as fast, so the the extra mineral cost of the rax is nullified by those scv's still on minerals! the 5 rax style allows constant marine production which negates the common issues with 3 reaper expand falling short on units. Hope this helps

P.S - I would be interested in some coaching (Mid-Masters Terran) after assessments

Eh, I know how to stop a marine tank build with marines ty, wasn't asking that...
I just have different opinions on which build is better vs which. and i'd say it's 60-40 for marine tank builds in general with a huge variables in maps and micro
