o one thing i have been finding is a patern emerging on ladder i play as toss for a week than lose and play bad a week than i play zerg awesomly for a week than play avg fr a week and than the cycle starts over again idk about you guys but i really enjoy both of these races and i want to master one of the races but idk which one atm im sticking with toss cause i made a deal with my 2v2 partner that if i change race next time i see him in person he can hit me in the balls stupid i know , so i am making this thread for your opinions Zerg or Protoss and why ????
It's really something you have to figure out for yourself. If there was a "better" race, we'd all be playing it :P As a low-level player who's race-switched several times I can certainly empathize with your situation though.
My favourite race is Zerg. I think they have the coolest units and I just love the swarm style of play and the way they look in action. Easily my favourite race to watch. However, after spending a bit of time playing Zerg I just didn't feel like it was the race for me. I struggled with the drone/unit dichotomy, keeping up with larva injection and creep spread was a hassle, and I just found myself feeling really vulnerable a lot of the time, particularly in the early game. These aren't complaints about the race, I'm sure I could have improved these things if I wanted to, it just didn't feel "good" to me.
Protoss, on the other hand, makes more sense to me. The macro style seems neater and I just feel more comfortable using Protoss units in general. I'm still a pretty terrible Protoss player in the grand scheme of things and I lose plenty of games, but I at least usually have some sort of plan as Protoss, whereas with Zerg I often felt lost.
When I was struggling to make up my mind, one of my mates suggested I play Random for a couple of weeks to see if there was a particular race I was happiest to spawn as. Maybe that is something you could try.
Playing random doesn't give you quite the same feel for the race as actually playing the race though, because people always play differently against you as random to if you spawned as a particular race they know about.
yeah i dont exactly want o play random cause i suck balls as terran but yeah im pre even as zerg and toss i enjoy both teams equal but seem to be wining more as zerg on ladder and thats what makes me want to be zerg but in HOTS the tempest is going to be able to take down mass muta which is a strat i like as zerg but hate as toss and will fix that and moving banes are going to be awesome and ultraa charge is going to be awesome so yeah idk who to go i want to be great with one not ok with both ....

Just remember that none of those things announced are Guaranteed to be in HotS, and the game will change ALOT.
Just Play whatever feels FUN. some days i play random, some days i play Protoss, and some days i play Zerg, play what you wanna playa t the time, you'll get better at both. ^_^
" play what you wanna playa t the time, you'll get better at both. ^_^"
well i have to use a day 9 analogy he said be afraid of the guy who has practiced 1 ick 10000 times of the guy who has practiced 10000 kicks once so yeah idk i feel obligate to play one race that will get me to GM (hopefully) ... alll im trying to say is i love them both alot but idk which to choose like do i take the steak or do i eat the lasagna they are both so nice yet which one is better for me
Zerg is more 'organic' - tech switches are easier, decision making is more reactionary, games have more flow than structure.
Protoss is more 'mechanical' - tech paths are defined, you're more often dictating reactions from your opponents, gameplans are carefully thought out and executed.
Think about how you play games - not just Starcraft - and what kind of person you are. Then pick.
Or flip a coin. Whatever.

I played Toss for 2 seasons, switched to random for a season, now I'm zerg and haven't looked back... Just because you choose one now doesn't mean you can't change in the future. Just go for it and if you decide it was the wrong decision, go for the other one.
I do suggest you go protoss though... Too many Zergs on sea...
ok thanks this has helped me alot im leaning to zerg but i think i need to choose one and next season change to toss give them a go long term i do find i like the fact i see them go 4 gate zealot with some stalkers i do like the fact that last game my ling harrass into roach was done really well with being 2 bases ahead and have a spire almost done to transition out of ling roach into roach muta
I had the same problem as you for awhile, in the end it comes down to a stylistic choice. Both races have their difficulties and their comforts but i feel the best way to choose is to figure it out in terms of style. Do you prefer power or agility? Protoss being power and zerg being agility. Or Warriors vs rogues, Thunder vs lightning, or if you prefer the obvious comparison of predator vs alien

well i have decided im going to play a bit of both mainly toss but i still do love to play a lil bit of zerg but thanks for all your imput
The thing that makes Zerg cool to me (ok even though I play T ) is how quickly you can change techs, army comps, everything. As long as you have the tech structure in place, you can instantly spawn 100 supply worth of any unit. Protoss has to choose between gateway, robo, and stargate tech. Even if he chooses to make some of each, he cannot instantly summon an army the same way Zerg can.
I find zerg generally more fun but protoss is relaxing and not so "competitive" imo. If I would start from scratch, I would definitely say Zerg, it is such a versatile and powerful race. However, the mirror matchups for both is painful
