Comming back to SC2

Hello everyone, after almost a year from playing SC2, I just got HOTS and beat the (rather mediocre) campaign and I'm just starting to play some ladder. When i quit I was in Plat, but got placed into bronze this time. I decided to re-learn in a very organized way starting with my mechanics. I am using TheCore hotkey setup, and using TheStaircase in conjunction as a learning tool. I've already went from bronze and promoted to silver within a couple days, and I'm only on step 2, (can only build lings as attacking units, but can get upgrades/nydus etc). Does anyone else use TheCore, or used TheStaircase? (see TL thread for info, don't want to link offsite). are have any words to share? Thanks

Baugi

I use Jakatak Righty (it was the predecessor to the core, I think it's 99% the same) and have found it absolutely amazing. I started using it when in diamond and it helped bring my apm from 120 to 200 and push me into master. I love how my left hand can stay on the same spot on the keyboard and I also have 8 unit hotkeys, so plenty of room for harass units, creep queens, medivacs/prisms etc.

In my opinion TheStaircase is a good way to get up to diamond, but at that point you have to start learning actual builds and strategy. Micro also becomes a big factor, you can't really just 1a your army around.

so....in 2 days went from bronze to gold, making nothing but lings, i didn't figure i would go up this fast. I'm only on step 2 of TheStaircase, and it still feels...extremely sloppy. Using TheCore tho, i had 90 APM for my promotion game, which is more than i ever had playing as plat before i quit. Anyone else use either?

Hey Baugi, how is this all going? I ran into TheCore and TheStaircase last night and want to know if it's worth trying out. And has anyone else tried either of these out and can give some impressions?

For those who've not heard of either, here's the links...

TheCore
TheStaircase

One more thing, for those who've used TheCore, left or right side of the keyboard?

Right side with fingers resting on JIOP. Modified some things like camera capture to fit my natural instincts
