It's been almost 5 months since PiGSty Cup #3... but the fourth one is finally here!
A tournament where players of all skill come together in my house to drink beer, have a bbq and of course compete for the best trophy in all of eSports history!
The tournament is a local, community tournament. This isn't about the best players coming down, it's about anyone who enjoys Starcraft coming together to play some games, commentate some games, eat some bbq and drink a few beers. You're welcome to come down late to enjoy the atmosphere and drinks, or to come without intending to compete. I'll have 6 PCs set up, most in one room. A casting room (which everyone is encouraged to take a turn in - super casual and fun) as well as a general viewing/chill area with 55-inch TV, and an outdoor area with the BBQ set up.
I'll have a few more volunteers helping run the thing this time around so I'm hoping for a very smooth experience. Tournament play will aim to finish no later than 21:00. Play will be starting pretty promptly and we'll have a few extra PCs to make sure things move a long a lot quicker.
Date: April 22nd Time: 10:00-22:00 Venue: My place, right near Lidcombe Station in Sydney. Facebook Event:https://www.facebook.com/events/268134220307953/ Entry: $15 to cover beer and food (pretty much endless food being cooked - so you're getting 2-3 meals + drinks for this, pretty good deal! Format: Groups of 4, best-of-three into single elimination best-of-three is what I'm aiming for. But it's adjustable based on number of PCs I can squeeze in and number of signups.
At the moment it's only open to live attendees as the aim of the event is to be super focused on getting the local scene of ALL skill levels active again.
In future I'd love to do some online cups for community outside of Sydney/Aus to take part in, but for now you guys can just watch our super professional, not at all drunk commentary
Hope to see you all down here and meet a few new Starcraft lovers!
Only 2 nights until PiGSty is here! We've got a $500+ prize pool, the golden pig trophy and a load of announcer/co-op keys to giveaway on the stream! There'll be loads of food and beverages (including a whole lot of beer).
I still need a bit of a hand with a few things. Right now the main things I need is:
A few PCs + Monitors that people can bring from home (including the power + monitor cables). Headsets/earphones are a bonus. PCS must have an ethernet port
Some compact chairs for playing on They don't need to be wheeled, in fact I'd prefer non-wheely chairs so we can fit them all into the gaming rooms!
A few spare ethernet cables!
If anyone's able to help me out with any of these please let me know! I really appreciate you all pitching in to help me make this event happen. If you live close-by and have some stuff to help, but don’t have transportation shoot me a message and I’ll see if we can arrange someone to pick you up/drop you home
I’ll also be asking for volunteers to take some small responsibility in helping me keeping the event going. If you plan to be here for most of the day and are willing to help out a little please let me know. At the moment I’m recruiting for 3 teams who’ll help ensure everyone has a fun event.
Aiur Chefs - These guys responsibilities involve taking turns keep the food cooking on the bbq and know where all the cooking tools and extra food is stored.
Dragonite - head chef
Dream-Stream-Team - People with Streaming Experience who know how to play filler videos, switch scenes and fix basic issues with the stream. These guys take turns observing and commentating with the rest of the drunks that will stumble in. Besides the easy job of keeping the stream smooth you also have to ensure the banter doesn’t cross the line into anything too inflammatory/offensive.
The gods of eSports - The Admins - The job is to update the bracket, let people know when they have to play their matches and hurry them along as the event continues. I want this team to be the biggest since it’s the hardest job so I’d like us all to share the load, rotating in and out and still enjoying the event to the fullest
I'll post the exact address of my apartment here on the page the night before the event (there'll also be a small sign out front the building). For now you know it's Mary st, right near lidcombe station, so can plan accordingly.
