[Tutorial]5 Tell tale signs to spot if you may still be in Adolescence
Adolescence can be very trying period for some people. And it sucks when your body matures faster than your mind and you realise that 24 year old body you're in still speaks the same way it did 10 years ago.
The good news is you will eventually grow out of this your phase and live like a normal human. After managing gaming community sites for 10 years I've identified some tips to find out if you suffer from these symptoms and how to address them.
1. Everything sucks
"This sucks, you suck, everything sucks". That video that was just posted? OLD. Seen it before. That picture of that hot girl everyone is raving about? ELBOWS TOO POINTY. This new upcoming player? PATCH ZERG LAWL.
It turns you into this very angsty emo that is unable to appreciate things worth appreciating.
Solution: When you realize that some things actually do matter. Being different for the sake of it doesn't make you cool it makes you a weirdo not comfortable of accepting the obvious.
2. You think calling people "C U N T" is cool.
Stuck in the year 2000, you relish using the word '*****'. Racial and homophobic slurs like '******' are the buzzwords of your choice. Expletives? Hell *&^#@$*&# yeah! Gotta be cool yo. And cussing makes you cool.
Sometimes you just can't help it. This is the lingo of your 'crew' and ya just gotta fit in ya like da tough bunch of mother&#*^@&* you are.
Solution: Waking up one day and realising cussing online for no reason just makes you look like a dumb little brat.
3. You resort to personal attacks when people disagree with you
People have opinions. Some are worse then yours, some are better. Sometimes there is no clear right answer either. But who cares? You fight till the death to hold on to yours. How dare they disagree with you? Or worse, you interpret their disagreement as an insult to your holiness. Their "stupidity" from not seeing your point of view annoys you.
So it's time to get personal and give them a taste of their 'own medicine.' And you know you can't win anyway so detract from the topic and throw in some insults about their appearance. Dig up some pictures while you're at it. Yea, that ought to work!
Solution: Realise different people have different opinions. That's what forums are for. And if your mind is in at this level of maturity, they are probably better than yours.
4. You rage quit, not just in Starcraft
A tell tale sign are the ones who rage quit their ladder games. Or even live streamed games. GAME IS BROKEN YO. TERRAN IMBA. GONNA QUIT IF BLIZZ DOESN'T FIX THIS BROKEN GAME.
*goes make quitting blog on sc2sea*
This behaviour follows through to their real lives as well. For e.g if you ever were in a relationship and encounter a problem, instead of saying “I feel like you don't open yourself up to me sometimes,” you will say “I can’t date closed off women like you.” Gotta rage quit that ho' yo.
When the going gets tough, you pull out this magic trump card. You quit your clan, quit your community website and you think everyone hates you.
Solution: When you realise this is not a trump card. If it is a trump card, its the trump card that shows everyone you have a mind of a 12 year old. Well done!
5. Everyone hates you
You can't take criticism. Oh poor you, the second coming of Christ. Instead of hardening up and fixing your shit, you put the blame on other things like "the community" and "how much it has changed". Its never your fault! Nobody understands!!!!
You dramatise the shit out of it. Instead of just a few people, its suddenly the whole world who has some kind of agenda against you and hates you. Omg why is everyone so different now?!?!?!? Not the 2 or 3 people who disagreed with you. EVERYONEEEEE ! ! !!!!!
Solution: When you realise no one cares. At least as not as much as you think. And when you pull off something like that they do start caring. Caring about what a moron you are.
This actually happens a lot in the SC2 scene as well. A few big names, casters quitting Reddit, people fighting over events and quitting. etc. Note: Some of the pics aren't so appropriate just didn't want a wall of text.
Ok so that's my list! Now what are some of the behaviours you have run into?
phew! I glad I "outgrew" all of that crap a long time ago.
There's nothing more unattractive than being so self absorbed that you think everyone even cares to hate you.
Unfortunately these are just traits of today's generation and not limited or exclusive to adolescents
There is truth in this but then again perhaps some people never grow up

This confused me because by today's generation do you mean ones currently in adolescence because you can't really say that until they exit adolescence and continue this behaviour. Although i may have mistaken you.
Being in and a fan of eSports we often meet people online and become great friends with them offline too often i observe people acting quite differently offline than online whether its keyboard warrior syndrome or people are just shy in real life. Generations before us haven't really had this to my knowledge.
I think that not learning from mistakes and just taking the mistakes you make as "everyday events" counts as a sign of immaturity too. I know cuz I do that a lot
Also, if you procrastinate one time too many then thats another sign you're still immature.
