I was just wondering if you would pay money to go on an SC2 vacation - a bootcamp of sorts for people wanting to improve in SC2. The idea would be something like this:
6D5N at a resort in your region. The programme would roughly focus on learning, group training, direct coaching and finally a tournament to round it off.
Basically, there will be a couple of coaches for each race and one overall, well-known speaker/player teaching (day9 maybe?). Each day will focus on one subject. Then practice session w/ coaching in each of your groups. Full board and internet provided plus some R&R time. Kinda like a corporate getaway except for starcraft 2. To round it off, there'll be a tournament. Just an idea. What do you guys think?
People go on holidays for sports and hobbies all the time. Why not eSports? I would go personally. The community is a ton of fun already at conventions and offline tournaments. Having that for a camp would be just as good. 5 days might be abit long but a friday night till sunday would work nicely
The real issue lies with the organization of the event and the programs involved. You'll need decent internet, plenty of computers and a schedule for interesting things to do besides just gaming 24/7
IIRC something like this has already been done in the US, kind of organised through TeamLiquid.net, but they have a culture of summer camps for kids. For anyone over school age the whole idea is kinda wierd I think. Why not just hold a training day in conjunction with the World Cyber Games events or some other large event?
A Starcraft vacation/bootcamp would just be a room with a lot of computers.
The people who would be interested would have to be really enthusiastic about Starcraft and at that point know about Korean training houses. Which means they'd probably want something that compares somewhat.
Considering the contrast between high end and low end players in Starcraft you have to figure out how the coaches will work. Are you only opening this to mid/high end players to perfect their game? Or is this for everybody?
A diamond player's learning process would be dramatically different to a bronze's.
tl;dr - If you want to create a SC2 bootcamp, just get a room with computers and internet and get a bunch of people to play nonstop for awhile. That's the only thing that will matter.

I think it'd be interesting to have a room of computers like alphawhale said, but have coaches there as well. Some people could benefit more from talking to someone right next to them? I dunno still sounds kinda weird ;P
lol no one said there wouldn't be booze, but this is just an idea. I was wondering if it was feasible like to do it for a charity or something. A SC2 marathon would probably be more feasible lol.
Yea I agree with Phoenix. With an event so big, not only do you need a lot of materials and $$$, but how do you grab people's attention? You'll need great advertisements from Blizzard itself or promotions throughout the world to do something that big. It is definitely a good call though. If you are looking to do that sort of thing, start off in Singapore. I'd fly my way from Hong Kong to attend something like that. I think a event like this needs experience in organizing, and not only do you just game and get better, you also need to have schedules for people and also have the daily-life agendas set up - not just fully gaming. I mean if you look at GSL, they have to set up houses, dorms for players to go to - and provide many other things besides just bringing them to play Sc2. So I definitely will support this type of thing! Keep workin' at it
how about a starcraft 2 reality show centered around a gaming house with 8 of the world's best players.. and tournaments every week to see who gets eliminated!

There would have to be some trashy drama to get the normals interested. Perhaps a diary room or elimination by torch passing.

I think its a great IDEA, but i think in reality would be much to hard to pull off and way to many variables and logistical ideas. However in saying that, if one in Australia did end up being run would definitely attend I dont really see how its creepy? :S

I had a similar idea a few days ago, but with an open qualifier and/or some other way of applying to get onto the show. Personally I think it would be great! Heck, once I get some media experience under my belt I might even do it myself.
held in SG? I AM IN! both the getaway or the show! though i prefer to be filming the show den part of it.. the drama mamas! lol... imagine all the politics that comes out from SC2 just like survivor~ woot... epic!
Yeah, like you could have 4v4 with unlocked teams.
DUN DUN DUN!
If you are weak your team might sell out on you. The horror!
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE
But I think for the most part this idea is a bit daft. Paying to go somewhere to play sc2? I love the idea of a gaming house and would greatly endeavour to be in one if Australia ever got to that stage (possibility of success = 0). But why go to all that trouble when there are coaches!
Yes, wonderful coaches! Perhaps you should go request coaching from the coaches!
