This month is a big month for fans of the hack and slash genre. Not one, but two hugely anticipated games will be launched over the next 2 days. The genre and launch dates are not all they have in common, both games are sequels to their critically acclaimed and well loved predecessors. For gamers who always love playing the latest major game releases, read on! Torchlight 2

Release Date: 21st September 2012

For a long time Diablo 3 detractors have been singing praises of this game to the high heavens. The game features specifically aim to fix many things that was heavily criticised in Diablo 3 and bring back what people loved in the original series. Skill point customization, character customization, single player offline mode and an all new multiplayer mode up to 6 players which was not present in the original. No RMAH. No surprise that the people behind this game were the original Diablo series creators from Blizzard North.

Borderlands 2

Release Date: 20th September 2012

A spin on the hack and slash, this game is more of a shoot and loot. Like Torchlight 2 it also features the magic number of 4 playable classes you can play with friends. Reviews say the random loot, skill trees and hilarious writing make this an improvement over the original in every way. For me, graphics and gameplay wise it feels a lot more polished than Torchlight 2 and this will be the game I'm getting!

Actually the Torchlight II bundle is actually pretty damn worth it.

I'll hold off on Torchlight for a while, still got waaaaaaaay too many games to play. I'll save it for a quiet weekend next year sometime. Keen for Borderlands 2 though, pre-ordered it a while back when it was on special for $30.

Really keen for borderlands 2, although I'm going to leave it till after exams. This is mostly because I'll be heading home from uni then and will be able to play it co-op.
