ZvT: A guide to 3 Base roach baneling AKA chobosniper’s guide to sniping chobos
This roach baneling build takes a normally timed third (6:00) and punishes Terrans that rely too heavily on third timings to scout for all-ins. The third base is not only a source for larvae that fuels the attack, but also allows you to transition from this all-in.
15 supply: hatch 16 supply: pool 17 supply: gas 17 supply: OL
This is simply a standard gas opening. A 12-15 scout is necessary to see if your opponent is going for reapers. If he is, stop at 17 drones and make 2 queens and 6 lings. The two lings at your natural should be rallied to your opponents natural to deny the cc, while the four in your main stops protects your drones. Well microed reapers are a pain to deal with, but by sending two lings towards the natural of your opponent, you force them back and take very little damage. If he isn't going for reapers, simply drone up.
The first reaper sees nothing at the natural and is forced into the main....
...where four zerglings prevent it from getting any kills
Meanwhile, the two lings at your natural sneak past the reaper to catch the building cc. Worst case scenario is that he pulls his reapers back to deal with it, which stops him from getting any drone kills.
@100 gas: metabolic boost + pull 2 drones off gas @100% Queens: 3rd queen - spread creep
44 supply: 3rd hatch 44 supply: 2nd gas + put workers back into gas @ 100% 2nd gas: roach warren 3rd gas @~75% Roach warren: Baneling Nest
Make sure to separate your baneling nest and roach warren so that your opponent cannot see both of them with one scan. You should be up to two base saturation with three gasses well before the RW finishes. For your remaining larvae, first make ~4 OLs to prepare for the mass of roaches, then add lings with your remaining larvae. As your RW finishes, build one inject worth of roaches (10-12), and then follow it up with pure lings. Push out with your roaches immediately and follow with lings, morph a round of banelings. These should finish with as speedlings are rallied towards the terran's natural.
[The terran player tries to deal with this attack with an abnormal amount of widow mines
But without additional bunkers + enough bio, this was simply not enough
This is the majority of the build; the game is usually decided by whether or not your opponent is prepared for it. At this point you have to rely on intuition over build orders. Often, you can simply kill your opponent by continuously rallying zerglings and morphing banelings. At other times it’ll be more beneficial to pull back once you've dealt enough damage (eg. in the first picture, the banshees of the opponent will pick off morphing banes, such that the second wave will become quite inefficient). Once you’ve decided that it’s no longer worth it to continue making units, you add a lair, 2 evos and drone up your third. Upgrade +1 ranged, +1 carapace, OL speed, roach speed and baneling speed to while hitting 3 base saturation. Make about 20 roaches and as many banes as you can and attack as all your upgrades finish, leading with your OLs.
This is probably the best one of these contest posts I've seen so far. You actually put effort into it, though Elusorys and crAzerk's (smelly LoL) look pretty impressive too.
