[Pics]Singapore's TGX 2011, Some thoughts, photos and lots of good memories. By Mezza
*WARNING, LONG and IMAGE INTENSIVE POST* Skip to the end of the text to click on the spoilers if all you want are the photos.
Before I start on my thoughts about the event, I'd like to give thanks to the following people. Because without these fellas, we wouldn't have such an awesome community, and this event would have been as much fun for me as it would have been without the help of these guys (and girl).
1. Bryan "aLtnirvAnA" Choo
All around fantastic guy really. The guy who put in tons of effort into this website and building up such an awesome SEA based SC2 community. And on top of that, an awesome player and such a mannered guy irl. This guy has been a huge driving force behind everything SC2 in Singapore. Also, he can drift one second from an absolutely ruthless all-iner during a game, to a top class goof. For example, this quote broadcasted from nirvana's sc2 account while on stage
"1st SC1 WCG Singapore winner, now SC2 also! The legend of nirvana continues"
-aLtnirvAnA
2. Supersecret Ninja - JacziE
The awesome ninja who got me this gig casting at TGX. Mad, mad thanks to you Jaczie. Also, I'd like to tell you guys about the amount of effort she puts in off the limelight with regards to eSports. She does so much work behind the scenes single handedly that you guys don't know about, but she's there, and she's doing it for the community. Sorta like your SC2 guardian angel, with a pinoy accent. Who's often decked in black, like a ninja. And has the cutest dimples.
3. Alex aka Frogmite
First time I ever worked with this dude and GAWD HE'S GOT SO FRICKING MUCH FUCKTON OF ENERGY ITS INFECTIOUS! If you guys were watching the stream on twitch.tv/tgx2011, THIS is the guy who almost singlehanded kept it going for large proportions of both days. So yeah, mad, MAD props to him. Did I mention he's got SO FRICKING MUCH ENERGY ITS INFECTIOUS!? Frogmite is an awesome dude. I'm going incoherent, but really. Thanks dude. You held it together when the bloody competition/organization was going tits up. Yeah, he's got the same unstoppable energy as this song. Crazy awesome.
I'm gonna begin on a sombre note and state that I wish that the organization for the tournament could have been much better. For the guys that made it down to try to catch a glimpse of our local and regional heroes in action and had to return home disappointed, I'm as disappointed as you are about the arrangement of the playing area and the lack of opportunities for spectators to watch the matches that are going on. Nevertheless though, I hope you guys managed to soak up some of the atmosphere of a LAN event and had a blast all the same, because I did.
The next issue was basically the lack of a coordinated and publicly available scorekeeping system for the brackets and results. Basically the results were on a hand drawn piece of paper that the head marshall had that no one else could easily have access to. Lots of people were asking for results on the stream chat, on SC2 itself and skype. I couldn't have gotten to all of you guys all at once because of 1. there was just a lack of info, 2. it was impossible to get info out to you guys all at once. So really, most of the results were going out by word of mouth, so thanks to the guys who were updating me with the scores.
Next, for the guys who haven't been down to a LAN event before, or haven't participated in one as a competitor, I strongly urge you guys to try at least once. Because LANs are where its at for competitions. The energy you feel there is palpable. And what better way to play the game than right across the table from your opponent and shaking his hand after the GG. Sitting at home and laddering it up definitely pales in comparison. So all you lurkers out there, delurk and attend LAN events!
Lastly, I'm strongly urging anyone and everyone who's passionate about the game to chip in a contribute to the community in some way or another. Especially at such events. It doesn't have to be in terms of cash but more like time and effort. It's a daunting task covering the event/running the stream/taking photos etc. So if everyone chips in a little, we'll have a much much better coverage. So all you guys with photos and who wanna share something, go ahead an post it up on the site.
Before I forget, for the guys who attended the event and thought that stuff could have been improved, stick a suggestion up in the thread, I'll read all of the, I promise and I'll compile it and try to feedback to the organizers to try to make stuff better in future. Please do remember however to keep it constructive!
I'm done with my rants, mad props to you if you actually read all of the text above and made it here, and without further ado, here are the photos!
iceiceice (looking badass) and his DOTA team getting interviewed, and ice obviously getting distracted by me
from near to far, Parkson, nirvana, railgun, ? muse
FlashRevz!
Muse brought his own monitor down! And yeah they were playing on the small Alienware laptops, and nirvana lost one game cos he couldn't find his observer on the small screen!
rLsEscapist
The Flash Brothers! Don't they look alike? Lancelot and Revz

Watching the IeSF finals from the front row of the stage!
***end of day one*** more photos to follow for tomorrow
rLsEscapist, now aLtEscapist! On stage for the WCG Finals
aLtnirvAnA on stage for the WCG Finals and looking goofy
Tired nirvAna ON STAGE DURING WCG finals, zomg.
Ever wondered what the casters view was like from the stage? This is it
Photo of the tournament area, There's RA and Ender somewhere in the photo, Ender with his hand on the side of his head and RA next to him, just above the Razer sign at the bottom right. Due to this unfortunate sitting position, the SC2 games totally couldn't be observed by any of the spectators who went down to TGX, which was a huge disappointment for lots of them.
RedArchon and nirvAnA
RedArchon looking badass and serious
ThuocLao aka OopsXilitlol (I may have mispelled his on stage nickname), the Vietnamese rep to TGX Regionals!
ExoMskiEnder, champion of TGX Regionals
nirvAnA and Cobo, from Malaysia
Raziel, India's rep for the TGX Regionals
RA concentrates, while Revz watches pensively, and nirvAnA goofs off
MskiEnder, on stage during the finals of the TGX Regionals
The SC2 Streaming and Casting production crew! JacziE, Frogmite and Mezza!
Thanks to Ned aka Leonard from WSWG too, for helping me take some of the photos for the first day while I was on stage!
Its super late now, and I've had an insanely long weekend and am totally pooped from running all around. So peace out and see you guys at the next LAN event!

i think day1 had the most issue with the stream.
the off-stage stream wasn't properly set-up.
barely any audio earlier on.
and casters were limited to what they can say as the players can hear them.
i'm pretty sure it will be okay next year.
props to that guy frogmite as well!
casters were great. im pretty sure it was crazy tiring casting the whole weekend and long hours.... i can feel your pain.
i heard that 100k people came by the event. pretty amazing stuff!
