I hosted a few events at iBisQ several years ago and I have to say, it was a nice venue.
One thing to note is that the cash prizes are nothing staggering, and most of the prize value comes from sponsor-donated gear. But as long as they get a good turnout, they'll continue to support bigger and better events in the future, so if you live in Melbourne, try to show up to these events! From my recollection, it's a very short walk from the train station.
I recall it being right next to glenferrie(?), but not all the trains stop there - door was a bit tricky to find as well if it's your first time there.

tbh all I remember was going to Luke's place and watching Pirates of the Caribbean whilst tripping over his giant dog.
And he said he lived "inner city" yet it was like a 40 minute train to his house lol.
awesome cant wait . Out of curiosity how is there 2 grand of prizes per tournament? theres 525 in cash, then all the other prizes combined (including girls) is worth 690 = 1215?

Beats me, probably just exaggerated prize values to build more hype. I'm not behind the event, I'm just copy/pasting their advertisement. :P
lol yeah a lil weird... but they shouldnt false advertising, just increase the prize money having said that tho im still gonna be playing in all 3 of them ahaha
Actually I think we all need to learn how to read. I just noticed it says,

We don't actually know what the goodies will be, but I guess it's feasible that they'll be giving away $700 worth of free stuff as well.
Went to Starcraft 2 Open Tournament #3 earlier this year at a different venue. Was good, i didn't play very well though. I'd like to think i'm a better player now however :P
Might have to work all 3 Saturdays, that would be bad, but i'll ask my boss if i can swap weekends, fingers crossed...
Seems quite strange that you'd have 3 tournies instead of just one as it kinda sucks for folks going interstate ><
$300 first place hardly seems worth the trip. Wouldn't even pay for itself! :P
I can see how multiple events would be guaranteed to pull a bigger overall crowd as you're less likely to run into a conflict of schedules. It's pretty clear that they're still relying on these events as a promotional step to bigger events.
Don't think i'll be good enough for these, so i might try and get my skills up and attempt to sign up for the last one! It's a short train ride from me, i live just next to parliment station
question about the map pool, maps are ok but scrap, slag and delta are questionable, I dont think any tournaments have these in their pool given their imbalances. Also will meta, shattered, shakuras follow all the other big tournies and not allow close positions?
Yes - I play zerg, and use close positions is stupid.
