Update: We now have a dedicated thread here which you can use for people looking for clans! If you want to join a clan you can post there or PM the leaders on sc2sea, posting in the clans recruitment thread (if they have any, plenty of new clans do) or hanging out in their channel and Pming their leaders on bnet.
Most important is your suitability for your intended clan. You should try to find a clan around your skill levels where you're not the best nor the worse but somewhere in the middle. It also helps to get along well with the members and be friends with them first. If you're a Diamond league player its no use spamming Roz the leader of inFi if you can join their clan everyday. The best clans always get spammed by join requests and have to result to ignoring requests so dont be offended or think they are arrogant/stuck up etc, this isn't personal they just get spammed to death and have no choice.
However, if you worked yourself up the ladders to GM, started doing well in tournaments and began playing practise games with their members and formed friendships with them then the transition to become a clan member even for the top clans becomes very natural. This method of joining applies to clans at all levels and generally the less competitive I.e more casual and easy going the clan is, the easier it will be is to join. If you're a BSG player, aim to join a BSG clan, a GPD player, a GPD clan! I hope the following database and tips provided above will help you find a suitable clan of your liking
People normally underestimate the dedication required to run a successful clan and its for this very reason that a lot of clans start off well then slowly die, the leaders lack the commitment required. If you're the type who dislikes organising or putting aside 3-4 hours every week of admin time please do not even consider creating a clan, you could always join one clan instead! If you feel you are dedicated enough and want to start a clan, make sure you already have a few friends who would like to start it with you as it is hard to run everything by yourself and with a few friends the clan starts off with a strong bond in place and friendly clan environment.
Lastly submit your clan to our database so more people know about your clan and make your own recruitment threads in the community forum if you like. I would highly recommend not investing in a website until your clan becomes much bigger so you don't pay for hosting costs. Clan sites generally don't get used much as although it provides a “Homepage” the content there is mostly static and people have no reason to return or post actively in it. Having a big clan with a strong reputation would solve this problem, but that would also require constant generation of new content so thats another commitment.
To list your clan in our database, simply follow the instructions here. Teams that wish to update their information should first update their group page then post in this thread with the link to it and i will copy n paste the new information in.
It is popular agreement that these are the 4 strongest clans on SEA. Because being a member would automatically associate you with a certain level of skill and reputation, most of these clans are very popular and therefore have a strict recruitment policy and almost always only invite players to join their clans. You cannot “apply” to join as recruitment is usually closed. The exception is nGen who hold public recruitment drives on sc2sea from time to time but still you do not have much chance unless you are a “top” player yourself in the Grandmasters League already. TA used to recruit players from any league but have recently closed their doors. If you are looking to join a clan and you're not in GM, you are better of spending time trying to join a more suitable one below, although some of the other top clans have tight recruitment policies too.

A legendary Singaporean based clan. We have been around since 2000 starting with starcraft and we are all pretty good freinds IRL too. We are now all older and are more of a bunch of friends playing together for fun, semi-competitively i guess. Finished #2 in the first ever SEACL.

By invitation! As a guideline, if you are around our skill level and more importantly are able to get along great with us, we will invite you! As you can see we only have 4 new Starcraft 2 members. Most of our members are existing members who have been in our clan for many, many years, so we rarely recruit but once you're in, you're in for life!
Clan NewGeneration, our clan has many of the top players, everyone with SC2 skills are welcomed. Finished top 4 in the first ever SEACL.

As a base...Good manner at all time, Passion to improve your skill, Effort to make changes, ability to get along with people And addtionally, 1. Has to be over 2000+ diamond (you can still trial if u are around there) 2. There will be a test, test games unlimited.. depends on how it goes 3. Need our Tag so you will need a name changer.
The stronger clans are listed at the top and the clans that aren't so well known yet at the bottom. This is important to note as almost always there is a relationship between the clans strength and recruitment policy. The clans at the top generally have stricted recruitment policies than the clans at the bottom.
Although relatively new to the RTS scene we have had strong showings in both the individual and team tournaments. We are very dedicated and certain that we will become a far stronger team in the near future. We are based in Singapore primarily. Small but a close knit team which recently boosted its strength by joining forces and incorporating the whole of clan GeNeSiS, another strong SEA clan!

Clan infiniti aims "To create the absolute most EPIC online gaming community!".We believe that players of all levels should be part of a community where they have freedom of choice: whether they purely play custome games or thrive to become the elitist master league players. All we ask is that our members are active, friendly players.

BSG Clans are a fantastic starting place for new or casual players to enjoy the game. With a clan you will be able to make friends and find partners fast and also be able to rapidly increase your skill. Clans usually have their own events too and recently sc2sea has been providing many events for BSG-only players to enjoy.

QED
Currrently recruiting T or Z players (no preference of nationality whatsoever, just need to be friendly and fun to be with!) since we have a lot of protosses in our clan already.
Pro teams are the closest thing to eSports we have in the region. However, because eSports is still largely undeveloped in the region getting an actual paid monthly salary is a rare privilege only the very best players get. I believe the only two players in SEA on a paid salary are mOOnGLaDe and YoonYJ. FXO is the only professional team that pays their team a salary regularly. Still, other sponsored teams normally help provide the players with free products to use and occasionally will help pay for entrance and air ticket fees as well, encouraging their growth as player. It is common for players to belong to both clans and pro teams but they naturally feel closer to their clan of friends. As part of their contractual obligations it is almost always that they wear their pro team tag instead of their clan tag.

Personally i think joining a clan for starcraft2 is not like MMORP Games.
You need to click with one group, get a leader. Listen to him/her, agree with him/her.
He/she say rush = rush. He/she say 3O'clock, all your units better be there.
Once inside the enemy base, know who's suppose to attack command centre, who suppose to break down the supply and who suppose to chew those SCV.
Back in base, who is defensing, who should be scouting, who should tech.
When the counter counts down to start .. it's not just another game... it's serious biz.... :O
