[SEA News]SEA Stars at FXOpen Invitational Series #6 - Update 2
SEA Stars at FXOpen Invitiational Series #6
So after a couple of weekends of internet issues, including a patch issue, the progress of the FXOpen Invitational has been slowed to almost a halt. However, there have still been some progress since our last update, including some impressive efforts from some of our best.
iM.yang had a tough group featuring former GSL champion SlayerS_MMA, along with TSL_HyuN and Chinese Protoss player from team World Elite, LoveCD. Up first against LoveCD, yang lost on Entombed Valley, before levelling the series at 1-1 on Cloud Kingdom. Unfortunately, LoveCD managed to secure the final set on Ohana, taking the series 2-1. yang’s next match was against Slayers_MMA who had fallen 2-1 to HyuN, and despite fighting valiantly, yang fell 2-0.
In a stacked tournament such as this, there is no such thing as an easy group. Unfortunately for MaFia, Group L was no exception. With the likes of FXOasd, LG-IMYongHwa and MaruPrime, it was always going to be difficult for our Korean Grandmaster hero. MaFia unfortunately fell 0-2 to MaruPrime, before being knocked out 0-2 by YongHwa.
The always entertaining tgun also had a difficult group to manoeuvre through. With the likes of CreatorPrime, mTwSuperNova and Complexity Gaming’s Goswser to deal with, tgun would need to be at his best…and indeed he was. tgun started strongly, coming back from 1 game down, to defeat CreatorPrime 2-1. Let me repeat that. Tgun beat probably the best player in Korea right now - WCS Korea Champion CreatorPrime 2-1!!!! He then crushed Goswser 2-0 in emphatic fashion to advance from his group in 1st place.
In the final group of the tournament, the venerable stalwart of South East Asian eSports would go to battle with LG-IMLosirA, Complexity Gaming’s TriMaster and MVPsC. Hopes were high for Glade, who had demonstrated his superb ZvT matchup defeating ST_Bomber 2-0 at IEM Cologne. Glade took a setback early falling 0-2 to TriMaster. This would prove to be a blessing in disguise as it would avoid a showdown with Zerg powerhouse LosirA. Instead, Glade would defeat MVPsC 2-1 before meeting TriMaster once again. Despite losing the first game, Glade battled back to take the series 2-1, and advanced from his group in second place.
Nv.mOOnGLaDe advances to Round of 32!
Round of 32:
In the Round of 32 which is scheduled to have already been played, but has been put on hold due to ISP issues with the broadcasting, Team Gamecom Nv’s mOOnGLaDe will face up against FXOLucky in a battle of ZvZ, for the chance to play the winner of BabyKnight and CreatorPrime.
Its GoSu eSports’ tgun will face off in a series of ZvZ matchups starting with TSL_Symbol, for the chance to play either LG-IMLosirA or MVPSniper.
More updates will follow. Cheer on our SEA heroes!
