Last week there were so many epic matches at MLG Columbus - Idra lost to a new imba Terran Strat called bombing the command centre; Naniwa showed off some nice disco moves he taught his zealots and then losing the game, and of course again Moon who finally redeemed himself with a bling bomb against Slush. Have you forgotten all these? If so, then head back to the previous Recap with Cute @ http://www.sc2sea.com/showthread.php?t=1542.
A new week brings even more exciting events and games, certainly there is no MLG, but there have been so many other events, with super epic games too!
1. DAY9 IS BACK FOR HIS DAILIES!
Day9, who casted at MLG, is finally back to his house, and therefore we have our dailies to watch again! From Funday Monday to hardcore analysis, it is a show that all of us should certainly check out when we have the time! Prior to kicking off the daily on Monday, Day9 shared with the audience his experience at MLG, and in it he gave his reaction to the GG from Idra.. it's a daily worth checking out @ http://blip.tv/day9tv/the-story-of-mlg-try-3-5253308
For all ZERG players, doesn't it feel like FML when hellions run into the main and kill drones, or when a cloaked banshee appears and kills all the queens and then drones?? There are so so many openings that can mess with zerg at the start in a ZvT, and Day9 to the rescue again!
In the daily, he examines the play of RootSlush, whos a top player in NA, and the idea about larva management. players, do check it out if you can spare the time! The VOD is at http://blip.tv/day9tv/day-9-daily-31...gement-5260805.
2. GSL Super Tournament
After a slight delay due to MLG, the Super tournament is back! There are three races in SC2, the swarming , the proud , and lastly the enigmatic , each with their own special abilities. However, in the Super tournament, the last 4 standing in the semi finals are all ! So much so that Tasteless has referred it to GomTvT on stream. Two time GSL Champion Nestea fall to Top, and after Line was unable to take out Top in five exciting games, it basically sealed an all Terran top 4. Do we smell Terran imba?? First we witnessed MMA take MLG, and now this! For the games, do check out www.gomtv.net!
3. Gigabyte StarsWar tournament
In the GSL, it might be TvT, but in this tournament organised by Gigabyte, it is PvP! This tournament had top players from all over the world, including Korea, and it has already progressed to the semi finals, where there are 4 Protosses left standing. However, three of them are Chinese, and the last one is two time GSL winner oGsMC! Aww how epic, PvP in the semi finals and the finals! Certainly with the recent patch where the warp gate time has gotten nerfed, PvP has becoming more interesting.. For those of you hearing about this tournament for the first time, do check out http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/view...opic_id=213951 for more information!
That's all for this week, and see you guys again next week! With exciting new matches in the NASL, where Idra meets legendary Boxer, maybe a repeat of MMA vs Idra? And who will prevail in the GSL Super tournament, and we await some epic TvTs, especially between MKP and MMA!
POST EDIT:
Before we could post this, the much hyped Idra vs Boxer match was played! How did the series go? Click to read more!
Game 1
The map was Crevasse, and while Idra opened with a standard Hatch first, Boxer pulled out the cheese with a proxy 2 Rax! And instead of Bunkering at Idra's expo, he bunkered Idra's MAIN with 3 bunkers!
Idra reacted far too late to deal with this, only putting down a Spine which was easily taken out by marines mid-construction. Idra GGs out immediately, recognizing that he had failed to defend this rush early enough, and would not be able to break it.
Game 2
Game 2 of this BO3 series was on Typhon Peaks, with them spawning in close rocks spawn (i.e. Idra on top, Boxer below)
Boxer once again tries to cheese by proxying 2 Barracks within the shrubs of the watchtower, and it looked like Idra was going to miss it when he sent his first drone towards the right - but Idra was probably wary after G1 as he made his way to the watchtower first and spotted the SCV path and probably guessed Boxer's spawn location based on timing? So when he ran to the other Watchtower he saw the 2 Barracks!
Boxer scouts Idra's pool first opener this time, and gives up on the bunker rush and lifts both barracks up and flies them back while expanding.
Soon after, Boxer hit with a timing marine blueflame-hellions push, with took out a Queen as well as alot of lings.
In the meantime, Idra teched to Mutas and tried to do some harass but Boxer was well prepared with turrets and marines. Idra expanded twice to a 3rd and a 4th but never quite saturated the 3rd base, while Boxer successfully expands to a 3rd even with Idra's mutas trying to deny it.
After getting a strong ball of tanks, thors and marines, Boxer hammers through the rocks for the direct route into Idra's expo, and made a siege slow push from there, leapfrogging his tanks perfectly.
Idra had no choice but to engage (or lose his expansion and probably his main), flooding in with ling/bling/mutas and even Neural Parasite with Infestors - but the tight choke meant it favored the Terran army and despite the NPs, Boxer's army + constant reinforcement was too much for Idra and the zerg force was cleaned up.
All this while, Idra had Broodlords morphing in as well, and perhaps he would have been better off waiting for them to complete before engaging. (But that would also mean he would probably lose his expo)
Boxer was wise to this as he advances forward quickly and stimmed Marines forwards to clear up the Cocoons.
With the Terran force encroaching on his main, Idra GGs out and Boxer takes the series 2-0!
