Hey guys,
I'm just wondering how do you make a name for yourself? Where do you start?
I'm quite puzzled on this as I want to play in those tournaments on teamliquid, youtube etc.
getting top 20 or ranked high in blizzards top 200 list will get you very noticed imo
On US, top 20 is a pretty insane goal for the average player looking to rise up, on SEA i doubt you'd get that much respect since the majority of good SEA players have moved over to US now anyway.
As for getting a name for yourself:
Do well in tournaments, get to the point you're getting casted and show good matches.

Yeah, I'm stuck on whether to play on NA or SEA.
I'm in Diamond in SEA atm but not in my top 20 and Plat in NA which I can probably get promoted to diamond soon.
I guess it'd be better to get top 20 for tournaments in SEA and play NA?
actually bar none the easiet way to get recognised is by winning a tourney, small or big
so start joining yoz's sea opens every weekend! gonna be tough tho, glade always wins

dude, honestly, just play on NA ladder and jump on SEA whenever theres a tournament worth playing on, I cant think of a SEA tournament that's been invite online other than the blizzcon tourny, so it's not like you'll have trouble entering them as an 'unknown'.... Just enter tournaments and win games...

Yeah, I guess I might as well just play NA and get a name for myself and if there's a SEA tourny with a prerequisite, I'll just tell em to check my NA profile :-)
Join every tournament you can find online. Did you even sign up for PSI storm? Win one of those or at least get to the semis and play well. Why do you want to make a name for yourself? If you are looking for popularity then the path is not clear already.
Do you play starcraft II to be popular or to go pro? What is your goal? First you must find that out.
You say you want to play in team liquid and youtube tournaments, my question to you is have you even joined any of their open tournaments? I guess not. It does not come over night. Even players like nirvAnA korkor and GLaDe have been playing for years in Broodwar and WC3.
But then again, I'm just saying. What do I know?

I haven't played in any tournaments so far, I've only been playing sc2 for like 5 weeks? :P
I just want to make a name for myself so I can play against all those high tiered players, haha.
But I'm far away from playing them.
