Next up in our "Getting to Know" academy members series is none other than the esteemed coach JunO. Only 18 years of age, JunO has had a remarkable history in Starcraft. He has amazing strategic knowledge, game sense and scene awareness. He's a well respected member of the Starcraft 2 Community and it's an honour to have him on Team Exile5 coaching our Academy together with PiG.
Enjoy
Q: So who are you:
My name is Juno Kwon, 18 years old, Korean Australian, Zerg main but mostly a random player!
Q: What's your background in Starcraft
I've been involved with Starcraft for majority of my life, back track to the days I played campaign? 14 years ago, all the way back to the day my dad brought in a computer with Starcraft installed. But mostly I was a competitive Broodwar player from the age of 11 and been playing Starcraft as a whole ever since.
Q: What else do you do?
I've recently finished highschool, so at the moment my time is back to Starcraft. Other than that, I really enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning, a brilliant game of chess and long walks on the beach with RunaMoK.
Q: What do you go great?
I play a lot of other "games" in high levels that are mostly disregarded. I played Pokemon, the battles not the card game, in a website called "Pokemon Showdown" where I took rank 4 in my peak. I also play Yugioh, in an online server called DevPro where I took 7th rank last format with 80% winratio. Apart from this, some rhythm games, chess at a decent level and others here and there.
Q: What's your most memorable moment in SC2
Without question, watching JulyZerg vs GooDFrienD live in EVER OSL 2005. Watching him walk out of the storm of confetti and headlight was what attracted me into the wide world of eSports. July is my idol to this day, I used to be JulyZergFan before I stuck to just using my real name.
Q: What are your goals
As a whole, I'd like to be involved in eSports in every form. As a player, a coach and a personality, a positive influence in the scene. As for this year, to step further into that goal, I look to give away at least 100 hours of free coaching to strangers as well as coach at least one person in the Exile 5 academy into Grandmaster league. Of course, to account for this reliability, I'll be aiming to get Grandmaster league this season with Random.
Q: Tell us something that no one knows about you
I wanted to main Terran before I played further into the original Starcraft campaign, when I changed to Zerg. This all happened because my young heart had a "fictional character crush" on Kerrigan.
Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?
I'd like to firstly thank Exile 5 for this wonderful opportunity and I'd like to thank Elison from SCS for always being supportive of me. I'll take a page out of Cameron's book here, GUYS FOLLOW ME ON TWITCH and TWITTER
