This is only open to Clan Leaders for the moment. As there has been alot of feedback for more clan wars, we are now in the progress of planning more competitions but need more feedback from you as to what you want your clan to play in.
Two important formats to settle.
1) Competition format. Which one out of the 3? Clan League, Clan Ladder or Clan Tournament.
2) Match format. 5 Sets of Bo3 (4 1v1s 1 2v2) or Winner Stays. If you have any other suggestions post here.
More on Competition Format
Clan League: - Similar to the SEA Nation League but for clans. Every weekend teams play each other at a dedicated time.
Scores are tallied up in a league table format and the winning clan is the team with the most points at the end of all the games.
Pros:
No ladder abuse,
At least one match gets played a week aka no dodging to stay on top.
Dedicated live stream and something pple can look foward to every week. Cons:
Dedicated time every weekend.
Maximum one clan war per week.
Clan Ladder: A new concept. Clans can play with each other anytime they want as long as they are free. Score format will be a ladder and as the matches are flexible and they can play other clans as often as they like.
Pros:
Play as many games as many times as they want as long as they find opponents online.
No limit of number of clans. Multiple clans or multiple teams per clan can join so everyone in the clan can play.
More flexible, no dedicated time to set aside every week.
Less admin work for everyone, managers dont have to ensure their players are free.
Cons:
Dodging - Clans might avoid playing stronger clans or stop playing once they reach certain points, tho we could make some rules to prevent this.
Abuse - Similar to above, clans can just pick on weaker clans. Rules can prevent this.
No dedicated time so no streamers unless you have one online at that time.
Clan Tournament: - A new concept, similar to World Cup. We seperate the teams into pools, they all play each other than the top two teams advance and then Pool A and Pool B combine make a new 4 team pool same things happens, you get the idea.
Pros: Could create a fixed schedule like Pool A B on Saturday, C D on Sunday something like that.
Cons: Once teams get knocked out leaves them without games for quite a while.
We could make like during the final weekend last COTH vs winner of clan competition winner for the SUPER CLAN CUP trophy football style lol

I personally like Clan Ladder as the competition format.
Match format i like Winners style with teams of 3 so there can be multiple teams per clan and for big clans everyone has a chance to play. Also there will be tons of teams so the ladder will be very active and all clans can play in it.
Feel free to share what you prefer, we will use majority vote of course
clan league, but dont have to fix time to play, make fixtures for the clan and give them the entire week to finish the games and submit the replays&results by the end of the week?
like week 1: ngen vs pro,ta vs gg, infi vs alt
week 2: pro vs ta, gg vs alt, infi vs ngen
Thanks for replying guys. We also are looking for input in regards to match format as well.
5 Sets of Bo3 (4 1v1s 1 2v2) or Winner Stays.
I suppose in regards to fixed time as it doesnt seem all that popular if the trend continues maybe something we can look at is casting replays at a set time. Or just yeah casting when they are played. Would need some input from Mezza and Unstable in that regard.

In regards to casting the whole thing. I think mezza would agree that casting live would always be preffered, but then again if we want to attract sponsors to the events, we will need a set schedule.
Say for example(all details made up), Clan war games played on teusday and wednesday of each week at 6pm.
If the teams can play then AWESOME! but if they cant we can at least cast the replays on those times and days to keep some kind of structure.
- clan league (like WC3L) - when there are more clans we do invite/relegation/qualifiers to the main league
- if there's no shoutcasters, you can do just people who don't cast audio but show the game on stream (like WTV/obs)
My suggestions, I've got 2gazbillionjilliontrillion ideas running around and kept deleting and rewriting the post so instead of a 3 chapter thesis, i'm gonna list out my suggestions in point form.
My suggested tournament format - KO tournament, perhaps qualifiers, ro64,32,16,etc. hard to sustain interest for players in a league when you know there's nothing to play for, especially late in the season, same for ladder. also, frees up players commitment time to play in other stuff/train/ladder etc. because there's just too much commitment for everyone in for a massive league
if you've been KOed that basically frees up time for you to do other stuff, or play in the next round's qualifier, etc. and keep it going or just participate in a myriad of other activities that are SURE to pop up. Streaming/Casting - Need consistent pair/pool of casters as well as common TV channel we're not doing this full time, like tastosis, so it'll be good to pool resources, draw up a roster, have people fill in whenever they can - Need consistent time slots to make sure people know when to tune in, sponsors need to know that we're drawing consistent crowds.
however there's competition from GOMTV that broadcasts at 6pm KST~ish which i suppose we will be in direct competition in, and no way in hell are we gonna win, so we either target their offseasons, or work on weekends, saturday afternoons till evenings, or sunday afternoons till evenings. weekday nights are gonna be hard. - Need consistent quality
this is perhaps the simplest or the hardest part, we're gonna have to standardize all the stuff, quality of casted material, stream quality, etc. to make sure the quality of the product isn't affected when different people are streaming/casting so that sponsors will want in - Casting live
agree fully with unstable. casting live > all. no doubt about it. but casting replays at a consistent time slot is the second option. - Cast duration
casting duration should be around 2 hours ish. mainly because of our timezone. I can't imagine the NA or EU players being the bulk of our viewers. but we should aim to capture as much of SEA as possible. that being said, anything stretching past 3 hours with a SEA time zone span of 5 hours, is gonna make it end up past midnight for NZ/AU if the cast goes on for too long. that in the long duration is just not sustainable. this point being made
Tournament Format - 3/4 players per team, allow multiple teams from each clans to compete, etc. nGen.alpha nGen.beta, GGteamA, GGteamB, etc. there are big clans and small clans, ones with so many members they're capable of forming multiple teams, and to populate the initial KO tournament brackets, we should keep team size small. - keep it to ~ 6-8 games a night so cast timing will be ~2 hours. so we could either go for the all kill system, like COTH is having, or a point system, like clan A player 1 vs clan B's player 1 and make it a race to 2, so there's a chance one player might not need to play. we can compensate for this by having the starting players rotate, so everyone gets a runout, for early on in the KO system. Later on in the tournament, like GSL, we could increase the number of games, till the finals, we could have it on a weekend and a long 3-4 hour epic thing. The rest we could do on weekdays.
i'll add more as I start thinking of them.

I'll have to go with clan league just because of the games it will generate instead of leaving most clans out ..... which could lead to inactivity, plus better clan relations to organise future leagues/events!. Bo3 Ace Match
ichor gaming

Yo guys it looks like by the votes its gonna be Clan League so thats confirmed
How about match format? 5 bo3 or Winner Stays(like the coth)
Also what about the scheduling? 1 match every week like nation wars or say since there are like 12 clans, once the teams are posted clans can finish the games at their own pace as long as its within 2 months.
Also lets more active clans play more matches per week and we wont have to drag it out for 3 months cause 1 match per week is gonna take quite long
Alright so this is what im thinking. We have
- Clan League
- Five best of threes
- We have a set time like Friday night or Saturday night or something. Ideally we want to play as many games as we can on that chosen night which i need your guys feedback on. If we cant work out a time thats good between the two teams then they can agree to play at a earlier stage but you will have to work it out amongst yourselves. SAy something like if i dont have th replays in my inbox by Monday morning you dont get points.
- Maps im thinking start on Metal and loser picks. Or we can go a map pool something like COTH with a few Iccup maps.
I think that pretty much it so yeah need to get these things from you guys.
If you havent voted on the match format i need you guys to do that now as i want to get this sorted sooner rather than later so will be deciding in the next few days so this is your last chance.
Also if you agree with my idea in regards to when we play the matches.
Map pool as well but not really a huge concern for the moment. Lets just stick with match format and when the matches are played.
I have always been pretty interested in the idea of clan wars on Starcraft 2. Lately, myself following up on the recent SEA CoTH has given me a pretty good idea on how the format is like currently. Although the all-kills have been quite exciting and the games were of a high level, it always felt a little strange to me that only a few players in the clan gets to play and that some clans are obviously more dominant in particular races, which may result in an one-race lineup. Also, the possibility of one clan having the strongest player (regardless of the rest of the team's skill) which is able to all-kill every player somehow destroyed the team concept idea for me. This has got me thinking about a possible alternative format for clan waring, I call my current idea "The All-Matchup" format.
Basically the two clans going into this war with play a total of 10 games, and earn up to a possible 11 points.
PvZ PvP PvT
ZvP ZvZ ZvT
TvZ TvT TvP
Top Player vs Top Player
Each clan will send one representative for each of this matchup (maybe 2). "Top player vs top player" can be played by any player on the team regardless of how many matchups he has already played.
The winner of the first 9 games will receive 1 point whereas the the winner of the "top player vs top player" game will receive 2 points.
The flexible restriction is that one player cannot play in more than one/two of the first 9 games. Whereas the last "top player vs top player" can be played by any player on the team no matter how many games he has already played. This format will allow up to 5-10 players on each team to play, show their strength for the clan, and also display a diversity of skill between players and races in their respective clan.
Sure your best player can still carry your clan by earning up to 3/4 points, but with this format, it will also rely more importantly on the other clan members as well other than just one or two players.
Thoughts? Ideas? Discussion and feedback are all welcome.

Alright so this is something we have been throwing around the Staff forums for a little bit now. We have talked to most of the clan leaders finding out what they want and would suit them best. This is pretty much what i understand that will please the majority. So yeah feedback on it would be appreciated as id like ot get this off the ground sooner rather than later.

Thats pretty much a the basic idea of it. Thoughts?
In regards to Lights idea thats going to be very very long =/ Talking to the leaders that was one of their concerns already which is why ive had to go with a more flexible playing time. Most leaders were against the COTH style thing and all for the bo3 just so yeah teams dont get carried by one player. Basically im just going along the lines of majority rules so if thats something you want post here and ill see which is the most popular and go with that.
