I'm interested to know what is the composition of gamers (enthusiast gamers that is). So my questions are as follows:
1. How old are you?
2. Your occupation?
3. How much many hours of games do you play a week?
4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc).
5. Woudl you consider quiting your job to become a progamer?
The reason i ask is because i get the gut feeling that there is now a larger community out there.
For myself the answers are as follows:
1. 24
2. Solicitor (Lawyer)
3. probably 16 hrs.
4. Just full time study as well (doing my masters)
5. Probably not, cos i like my job =P.
1. How old are you? 22
2. Your occupation? Student, undergraduate
3. How much many hours of games do you play a week? about 2 hours/day on weekdays, and anywhere up to 8-10 hours/day on weekends (sometimes 0, depends if I have any activity on). So.. I would say average 21 hours?
4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc). play guitar, drums, and basketball
5. Woudl you consider quiting your job to become a progamer? Nah, don't have the talent for it. Also, can't earn much unless you're really top level. And probably early retirement + carpal tunnel syndrome LOL.
@Dox - arakan martial arts?!?! what on earth is that lol.
1. How old are you?

Student 3. How much many hours of games do you play a week?
6-12 hours 4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc).

1. 22
2. Credit analyst (banker)
3. 0-20. There are weeks I can't play at all, or weeks I have loads of free time.
4. Long-distance hiking. 2-3 days out in the wild make me feel good. I also play guitar, love acoustic blues.
5. No.
Progaming is not job. Can't be sure, but I don't think a single progamer comes from a low-income background. The only example that comes to mind - WhiteRa. But as far as I know, he used to run a cyber cafe until he could afford to play professionally. A lot of progamers are full-time students, supported at the moment by student loans or parents.
1. MID TWENTYS
2. Equity Analyst now dabbling in some web development
3. 8hrs atm, when im hardcore laddering could be 30+ for 2 weeks then i completely stop.

5. never!
1. How old are you? 27
2. Your occupation? Financial adviser / Internet marketing
3. How much many hours of games do you play a week? 15 on average.
4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc). Married, continuing education.
5. Woudl you consider quiting your job to become a progamer? I doubt it. I'd lose passion for it fast, a lot of pressure and stress and not a lot of return compared to other career paths.
6. Skill level? Silver.

God I have no idea. Taking into account Dox's assumption of "you have the skill to do so", then my instinctive answer is **** YES. But then you take into account social stigma, lack of prospects in Australia, amount of time spent staring at a screen/sitting down, impact on future career if you don't sort out your current job first, personal laziness... not sure!
On the other hand if I wind up in America, can fix myself up to stay motivated in everything I do and work out a steady exercise routine then SEA REPRESENT!

3 or 4 . Girlfriend and organizing events killed my SC2 player career. Never had any talent in gaming but still trying to improve the few games i play every week. 4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc).
I played rugby for many years. I stopped playing since i got injured in Phuket 10's last year. Never played again since that tournament. I am playing role playing games, and have a bunch of friends in Singapore that plays Warhammer Quest 5. Would you consider quitting your job to become a pro-gamer?
It's very very hard to be a pro-gamer, it required a lot of hard work, dedication and talent to succeed. I don't have what it takes. Pro-gamers must be respected as they work more than anyone else for a mere salary.
1. How old are you?

Even if I was good enough I just don't see myself making a career out of it. It takes a whole new level of dedication and skill to play amongst the top.
2. Student, studying BSc. Laboratory Medicine/Laboratory Assistant at a Pathology Lab (hopefully moving on to a Lab Tech/Scientist once I graduate).
3. 4-5 hours on average every day. Maybe 30+ hours a week, depends on work and uni.
4. I enjoy working on my Silvia.
5. Not sure really. If I were much better at the game I'd probably have a different perspective, but I don't think I could play Starcraft like a job, I would lose my interest. Being a progamer doesn't mean you'll be paid a decent income anyway, even working full time at McDonalds nets you more money than most members of pro-teams right now. Up until SC2 (and even then only the best get decent salaries), unless you were Flash there was very little chance of making 6 figures.

Thought I'd jump in too, fun to see all the different ages, bg's and jobs.
1) I am 22, male, Australian.
2) I work in online and offline marketing, writing, website development and eSports (all self-employed as is my way).
3) 1-2 hours a day playing games. Though sometimes I watch streams while I write etc. My day is pretty all over the place doing different things to make money and have fun.
4) As I mentioned in 2) I love to write and work on a lot of different projects in eSports and in other areas. I develop extra websites and passive income in my spare time. I cycle to keep fit and sometimes train in Aikido (martial art). The rest of the time I spend with my gf @gilbertamie and my dog, Tychus. ^^
5) Yes, I would. Well I don't have a 'job' but I would become a progamer. But not in the traditional 'compete in tourneys and win money sort of way' I would earn money through coaching, team management and content creation (writing and videos) if I could (somtimes I already do but not at the 'pro' level yet).

3. How much many hours of games do you play a week?
No where near what I should, I am far too social and spend too much of my time talking to people or dicking around in chatbox/photoshop/reddit..
4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc).
Hmm not so much anymore, unless you count drinking. I guess I like watching movies and going to concerts and stuff, but since moving back to Auckland last year I have only really starting meeting people in the last month so haven't been out much.
5. Would you consider quiting your job to become a progamer?
Hmmm I dunno, maybe not to play because I don't ever think I would be at the level where I could make money from it, but would definately quit studying sciences for a job in eSports whether it be managing, casting or an organisational role.
1. 17
2. I study
3. Depends , if its summer i play 14 hours per day, so do the math. If I have to go to school and all that then its 60 hours per week?

5. Would be a dream. I would say yes, if i can get what i would get on another job, just by playing videogames i would right away.
3. How much many hours of games do you play a week?
3-4
4. Do you have any other activities (such as sports, music etc).
I play a lot of basketball, listen to a lot of trance =P. Also enjoy chilling with friends and watching sport (esp. NBA and AFL).
5. Would you consider quiting your job to become a progamer?
Nope. Would get disowned by the family T_T. I can see my parents being all like 'You have brought dis-honour to our family, all our money goes to your sister.' Nah, seriously I wouldn't. Sure SC2 is fun, but I wouldn't want to do it as a living.

4. Ultimate Frisbee, indoor soccer (outdoor is boring), family (wife and 2 kids), I can play brass to a professional level but havent really done much playing since finishing uni
5. Doubt it, too much pressure and no assurance. If you look at physical sporting organisations they have periods of time off (off season). e-Sports don't really get a chance to "break", if they do it takes WAY too long to get back into the swing and "catch up". That combined with the strain, physical vs. mental and every study ever performed has shown that mental is always more straining then physical. Basically progamers are time limited and there can only be so many casters. Though I do beleive there is great possibilities in e-sports where I would be interested in dipping my, and my companies, toes.
