StarCraft II 1v1 Prizes: First Place – Free flights and accommodation to National Finals + $600 cash + $1000 in prizes Second Place – Free flights and accommodation to National Finals + $300 cash + $500 in prizes Third Place – Free flights and accommodation to National Finals + $100 cash + $250 in prizes Fourth Place – Free flights and accommodation to National Finals + $250 in prizes
Entry Cost: $40 (Yes its high, I did make comment on it, but I guess its to deter players that have little hope in winning to make the tournament progress faster)
There will also be LOL, HON, FIFA11, COD4, CS and CF (But we really don't care about these )
The event will start at 10am and is expected to last until 3-5am (yes I know, quite long)
I am talking to them about setting up a Livestream of some sort.
WCG staff will also be onsite.
All this information has been passed to me, i've simply rewritten it here for you (with my notes in brackets). Feel free to comment on prices and such. Want to note that WCG is hiring out Cityhunter for the event, and its WCG collecting money from the entry fee, just so you know who is pulling the strings
Amazing how one of the qualifying Australian state's prizes alone exceeds the Singapore final national prizes! And free flights to gold coast wow imba! How many people from au qualify for world finals?
Entry cost is a way too high though, not sure the can get too many participants. $20 would be more reasonable imo.
The general idea is that TLS wants to encourage people to participate in these events even if you feel that you have no chance in the AU finals. But I'll talk to Dave about the entry fee once I get over this cold. I'm due to catch up with him in Sydney next week anyway.
No information has been released on the Melb or Bris events. I imagine you would be able to travel to Syd to attempt to qualify, are you sure its worth the travel however?

Sure a $70 flight for ~$1,600 in cash and prizes, makes sense to me :P
If you win ofc, and with players like Light, PiG, YYJ, iaguz etc from Sydney, could be quite difficult to.
This is true, but played vs most of them on the ladder with my smurf and had decent results.
And if i stay in for the Brisbane one I feel like I have less chance of winning, as per glade being there and i lost vs him 1-2 in last GO4sc2 and my pvz is weakest m/u.
Will be fun =)
