SEA Stars at FXOpen Invitational Series #6!
Last weekend saw the beginning of the group stages of the FXOpen Invitational Series #6 featuring some of the best of Starcraft 2 players in the world. The tournament spans from the 28th July through until the finals being played on the 9th of September. With a prize pool of $5000 including a 1st prize of $2500, many of the very best players are present. As an added bonus, SEA players are featuring with seven of our finest participating in the group stages.
The quality of players in the tournament means that there is no easy group for any of our SEA heroes. Groups A-H have already been played, with the results of our SEA players below.
The former Xeria Gaming star and recently free agent iaguz battled it out in Group E against Grubby, ST_Squirtle and viOLet. Unfortunately, iaguz suffered a similar fate to YoonYJ, going down 0-2 to Grubby and viOLet.
Fenner was up against ST_PartinG, QuanticTheStC and former member of Team SlayerS, Crank in Group F. Despite also falling 0-2 in his group, Fenner played well and did manage to take a game off of Crank.
With eight groups still to play, there are still a host of SEA stars yet to play. In Group K, Team Immunity’s yang will battle it out against SlayerSMMA, TSL_HyuN and the Chinese Protoss LoveCD. There are high hopes for Team Immunity’s Mafia after recently achieving Korean Grandmaster, and qualifying as the Australian representative for the Tokyo Game Show. He will play in Group L against MaruPrime, LG-IMYongHwa and FXOasd. Meanwhile, It’s Gosu eSports’ tgun features in Group O, and will play against CreatorPrime, mTwSuperNoVa and the American Zerg player coLGoswser. The venerable star of the SEA scene, Team Gamecom Nv’s mOOnGLaDe, is also participating. Glade will play in Group P, and is up against LG-IMLosirA, MVPsC and coLTriMaster.
