He took a small part from a large post of mine in a thread that had a large amount of really long posts. I couldn't be bothered reading through every reply to the original poster, so I just wrote my own experience. Yet, instead of looking at the context, he misinterprets my meaning and then misquotes me with his own false meaning in an attempt to justify himself.
Is this common? If I have to deal with admins who have the perception of a frog in deciding what is right or wrong, I wont go to the one section of the TL forums I currently go to, the SC2 strategy section. Maybe I can just play the game instead.

TL grew to its current size because it is heavily moderated with the sole intention of promoting good discussion, not personal opinions. It is very much like ElitistJerks for WoW. Basically, any form of bashing or stating opinions not in the original poster context is frowned upon.
Its not your typical forum. I realize you had your points and opinions but if you state you didnt read what the original post was about, its consider de-railing and on TL, that qualifies for a warning/ban
Its strict, but personally I like it. Keeps things on track
Yeah, you dont know the whole context here or my entire post, so you're assuming I was going off-topic. After I said that small message, I put my opinion of the context towards the original poster. So I was helpful, but couldn't be bothered reading the other 20 messages. Its almost as if I would have achieved more out of not being honest.
Kinda funny to think that in a serious strategy forum, I would have gained something out of not being honest... :P
well we don't really know the context but chill is one of the hardest working admins setting up the streams and all, so cut him some slack. if you didn't mean anything bad, just chill, breathe and get on with life, everyone makes mistakes.
i'm not saying he's entirely right in what he does, but its hard being an admin, speaking from personal experience, and hey, since when was everything nice and rosy, just hope it won't put you off hanging out on TL.net, cos on a whole its still an awesome place. here too btw.

TL admins are superb and TL has a great track record in moderation because they are fully willing to slap you for doing something out of line.
Going into a thread and saying 'well I'm not actually going to read' is not a good thing. It's not a habit that should be cultivated or something that should be proliferated. You deserved the warning.
Most threads develop beyond the OP. It's reasonable to read through to see the course of the discussion, or at least not say something as blatant as what amounts to 'tl;dr'.
continuing on Xeen's train of thought, I've read a post where they've warned people severely not to try to be funny on the site and just be good mannered. and they're known to just ban people for starting off on the wrong foot, and it don't really matter if you're morally right or wrong.
but just a word of caution, don't use the words you did. sometimes there's just too much muck to read through, and even if taken out of context, if you rub off an admin in the wrong way, you'll have a banhammer in your face. after all, they're a big site, they won't lose out if its one more or less of you, but hell, you'd be losing out if you're banned on the site altogether.

It's not a nice place, it's where the ugly anal side of sc community congregate and the Admins are random assholes, sc2sea.com is a much healthier community.
Yea TL is really strict but its good in that way, keeps lots of idiots/trollers/flamers/lamers away and the content stays clean/good. I dont know the full story in this case but invariably along the way some well meaning posts will become misunderstood/misconstrued.
TL admins do alot of work imo, so yea it could have just been an honest mistake, just shrug if off and dont take it personally.
I disagree with you ManCannon, i think TL is super awesome for the Sc2 community (check out TSL 30k SC2 prize pool!). Yea maybe you have exepreinced the unpleasent side of the site with bad admins or something but i guess you were just unlucky to face those minority of situations. On the whole i love TL and i hope sc2sea one days becomes something like that. Well i think we are already the SEA version of it without the strict moderation enforced yet cause there havent really been anyone out of line apart from 2 people who i was close to banning.
The site is about 4 months old now and I havent actually banned anyone here yet altho i sent out my first warning ever to some1 for some offensive/racist comments in the chatbox yesterday, whereas in TL it would have been an auto ban for life! We are still a small community tho so i hope that players who are warned change their bad posting habits and become decent posters at least.
Xeen nailed it - the reason it was a warning and not a ban is actually to help you improve as a poster, and there are countless examples of somoene not reading the context of the thread and posting some absolute rubbish. Warnings are a way of letting you know how things work around there without punishing you for ignorance so you should count yourself lucky!
I usually get bad reputations in any community I enter for critising things I apparently should not be. I was only wondering if the admins were always like this, and from what I've seen, yes, they are. I do not intend to gain anything out of saying this, it was more of my own curiosity.
I dont know how the strategy section follows a train of thought with a progressive discussion either. Usually its a bunch of posters saying achieve X by doing Y. Really, thats what it ends up being like in the game too. You dont 6pool because a group of people spent their time to develop a fast aggressive strategy, you do it because someone decided it was a cool rush. Yet again, they achieved X by doing Y.
Also, Kaz, I dont want to be called a troll already. I think I submit valid opinions to discussions, although this discussion may seem biased.
Your first mistake was looking at the TL strategy section, unfortunatly ive seen it filled with worse and worse things lately ive stopped looking at it.

To be honest, there are a LOT of people who post with little to no experience, then the diamond level players have to clean it up afterwards and sort right from wrong. A lot of people dont really want to experiment either, and keep to their own styles.
I was shocked to see how many people disagreed with the guy who came up with the 11overpool build and transitions from it. Everyone was picking on the possibilities and how the build could be countered, instead of the many strengths of it. Although it is kinda back and forth between economy and defence, it IS a safer opening. You could be screwed later on though.
Anyway, nice signature.
Them: "u2"
Me: "is a band"
I do that in game heaps for a reason :P
Theres always those people on ladder who dont bother to say gl hf, and then when you eventually go ahead and say it, they just say TWO FKING LETTERS. What better way to to settle the score than to make them type some more about how funny what I just said is.

I use it for strategy still, I read what people post and do the complete opposite, works wonders!

I have never had an account there because i know i would butt heads with the admins straight away, not saying they are all bad but i have seen quite a few threads where they abuse\berate people and do exactly what they did to the OP, they nitpick over very small things then grow a huge tampon up their ass and go on a crusade.

Most of the time that would be true, but the OP wasn't doing anything stupid and i seen em do it to others. There was a really nasty one where the admin kept attacking this guy's article, it was just a what i like about Protoss type thing, he was just attacking his writing style and being a real **** for no reason.
I guess like you guys have said, trolls\flame\turds don't last very long there, if a few admins abuse or make mistakes it's a small price to pay, it's a forum for a certain type of person and easy to avoid if it doesn't suit you.
