So in the interests of new players to the community I thought it worth while trying to get some response in relation to everyones CLANS. I myself have never been in a clan and to be honest do not really know how it all rolls.
You have the BIG BOYS who are made up of some serious gamers taking on the rest of the world right down to the casual clans made up of a wide mix of players there for some fun and maybe some tournaments.
For all the players out there (like myself) can someone PLEASE explain what YOUR clan does and how you opperate. This info would be greatly appreciated and may help out some of us so we know what were are in for and other thinking of starting a new clan.
Some basic questions:
1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members?
2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin?
3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps?
4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters?
5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
There would obviously be many other things you do that I'm sure the community would love to hear... and you never know. It just might help us out.
This is basically what the looking for clan thread and the clan database is for. If you just look in those places they'll tell you there usually and if not, link to the clan's website and be there (most of the time).
1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members?
minimum of 5 with one being in house (between memebers)
2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin?
have a manager head of each race and im an overall type coach as clan leader everyone does help each other though
3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps?
everyone picks there own i personally try to do CO and ESl + clan wars.
4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters?
we met fellow clan members at events chat about the game and occasionally will just have a massive ffa / team game if enough people are tired / dnt wana play seriously
5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
currently we arnt sponsored and atm i don't think we are good enough for them will probably aim to start looking for some once we can beat the big clans Alt & infi
il add something etc I do is i send emails out about once a fortnight about what we are doing who needs what help etc. such as ive given every member of the clan an aim for the SEA server for the season and every season it'll be more difficult so that players have to keep pushing themselves and the other team mates to improve.
hope this helps the players who don't really know what clans do but this in gernal is what crux does anyway
The thread wasnt just intended for me btw... Im sure there are many others with very similar questions. Given the wide variety of clans out there Im betting they could all use the knowledge gained to better manage their clans. It also gives as all a great insight into the effort many of the leaders / managers are going through.
As an added bonus it shows me who is active on the forums when I get to GM...
PS - Pig... I have an awsome DP because I am such an all round nice guy!
yes i gathered itd help people who didnt have an idea since that was the aim of post i assume so if theres anything else just yell out and il answer what i do etc i dnt think theres much more tho :P and PiG its the new 100 post thing although ive only seen me infesa and some1 else with it who all played toss so could be one per race??? :P
Thanks for telling me stallion. (About the avatar haha)
My clan is iRL. 1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members? Everyone put in at least 2 hours practice a week. We dont have a minimum hours that we require our members to put in but you must be active(SEE YOU ONLINE). 2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin? Not really MUST but we normally practice with each other quite alot. We have coaches for every race. We have a head coach iRLKyzersoze who is also the race coach for zerg. We have a terran coach iRLdrake, protoss coach GGBinu and me myself.
We have manager who plans events such as offline trainings and online ladder targets that we have to meet. 3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps? We try to attend ALL Lan tournaments that are available. (Sadly, Singapore doesnt has many). Everyone is recommended to attend. As for online competitions, we understand that not everyone is free all the time and it is not compulsory to join them. For clan wars, we just pick whoever that wants to play and are online at the time of clan war. In the event more than 1 player who wants to play, the person in charge of the clan war (the coaches) would pick the player. 4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters? We often offrace against each other to have some laughs. Our zerg coach iRLKyzersoze LOVES to offrace as terran and proxy 2 11-11 rax to bunker rush a zerg and show them TERRAN IMBA. At our offline meetings we often go steamboat or just have dinner eating AYAM PANGGANG 5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
We are currently not sponsored. For our offline trainings, we normally share the cost between every person who attends.
I can’t believe the min practice time is only 2 hrs. Thought you guys would be 20+ (at least)... although this is only a min, I sure some of you put in a hell of a lot more (I would spend 20+ hrs per week but have yet to improve...lol!)
Your coach set up sounds really good. I’m sure having dedicated coaches for each race gives you both an incite into your race and your opposition’s weaknesses.
The ladder targets are interesting. Are you targets based on games played or position required? This sounds like a good challenge to set the players, which can be increased over time as required. NICE.
I would have guessed you attended the LAN comps but thought you may also need to represent certain online tournaments to ensure positive advertising for the clan etc.
Surly you don’t let the coaches win the off race shenanigans? You would never hear the end of it… lol!
It’s a pity there isn’t a little more sponsorship going around to help grease the wheels…

Not really 2 hours. That's just me LOL. The rest of my team are ladder monsters. If we are free (Holidays) We can play up to 40 hours a week. If we are busy then 2 hours. The ladder targets are just realistic target that we can. For example, my leader will set 50 random wins so that you try to get experience playing all the races, most of us just drop 20 ranks doing it LOL.
1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members?
We don't really have a specific time for practice, we just practice when most of the members are online. All the peoples are welcomed to join "Winter Nights" channel for practice games .
2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin?
No, we don't really have a head coach in my opinion I don't think its a necessary to have any head coach we usually just give each other opinions for improvements. But, we do have admins who're managing the clan wars, and activities.
3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps?
We usually join online tournaments, due to the fact that most of us are from different countries mainly Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and others. But we use team speak 3 to communicate to each other sometimes.
4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters?
Custom games, team games, chill lax at the channel attempt to proof which race is most imba and etc
5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
No, we currently do not have any financial issue because we got "*^.^* cute *^.^*"(Clan leader) who's currently sponsoring our clan for events such as winter nights tournaments that is open for public and etc.

Do you guys really want to know what TA gets up to :P
Anyways not all the questions are answered but there is a lot of information about our history at. http://www.sc2sea.com/view_clantaaboutus.htm

The Chad is great!
Im sure there's alot of dirty little secrets that the big boys get up to but arent willing to share.
Have most of you all stuck with the same clans or is there alot of poaching between clans? What are some of the do's and dont's betweem rivals? Do you intergame...
If I was to join a casual lower level clan and with time got better would it be kosher to go to a bigger clan or is that just BM and forever to be rubbished from your old clan?
1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members?
Everyone puts in how many hours they want. We don't force any of our players to train but we do insist that they should be active.
2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin?
We have coaches in our clan but most of the time a few players would play each other and discuss the games played. I'm technically the leader of TA but Del is kind of also the leader. We have TAScarlet/TAFourby looking after our PDCL players with TAEdarus looking after our BSGCL players. All our players make an effort to help manage the clan so that we run smoothly.
3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps?
I personally don't play in as many tournaments as I should but I do go to most Lans in Sydney. Our players decide on whether or not they want to play in competitions. All of our top tier players are in sponsored teams so it's up to their teams to decide if they can travel interstate for huge lans. But overall if there's
4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters?
Starcraft 2 is my fun time =). Other than that it's chilling on teamspeak, watching TV shows, watching streams, hanging out with mates etcetc.
5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
Finances?? We really don't have any money coming into TA unless its certain TA members paying for stuff like GSL/GSTL passes or sponsoring tournaments. Like before, all of our top tier players are part of teams so they get financial help from them.
1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members?
Roz forces us to play atleast 40 hours a week
2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin?
Roz is our manager and Revenant is the head coach, all the other members are not allowed to criticize them, but they are allowed to criticize us and our gameplay.
3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps?
We have to participate in every tournament there is, unless Roz doesnt like the tournament admin, then we cant participate.
4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters?
We sleep for fun
5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
We have to give all our winnings to Roz, and if we don't win anything, we have to pay Roz 500$.
"Roz is our manager and Revenant is the head coach, all the other members are not allowed to criticize them, but they are allowed to criticize us and our gameplay."

LOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL! Ohh my god thats funny.... Roz mate you sound like one of those bosses from HELL!
..."we have to pay him $500".... hard task master or what! Haha!
1) How many hours per week does everyone put in? Is there a min you want from your members?
We're a casual clan so there's no minimum, but applicants have to play enough for us to get to know them. 2) You must practice / coach each other but who does what? Is there a manager / admin?
We have a leadership group that deals with admin stuff. 3) Compititions, how many do you play? Who picks them? Do you travel to comps or is it online comps?
People are free to play what they want but we will push some tournaments, especially clan leagues. 4) Fun stuff... what do you all do for some laughs? Any barcrafters?
Absolutely. As a casual clan the clan forums/chat channel are the focus. We did get a little crew out to barcraft Sydney. 5) Finances, Im sure this is an issue for some of the serious clans. How do you manage this?
As a non-serious clan we don't have huge costs. Website hosting/voice server are paid for by a generous leader (Slayer for the most part), with a bit of help form donations.
Even the smallest donations help keep sc2sea running! All donations go towards helping our site run including our monthly server hosting fees and sc2sea sponsored community tournaments we host. Find out more here.
