I want to apologies for appearing like an ass with the intention to troll on your forum. This is not my ultimate intention by any means, and to prove it, I will only be typing out this one post and one post alone unless the Admin/Moderators allow me to reply.
I would like to happily announce that as of 5 minutes ago, my soul now rests in peace as I have realized how obvious the answer to fixing zerg's design actually is, to remove from them what is both underpowered and overpowered to bring things in to a sense of balance.
I will start with a quote to support my point.
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." - Einstein
Baneling's Role: Offensive Aggressor (Can be Proxied Near the Opponent)
Roaches Role: Defensive Reactor
How is the Roach not fulfilling the role of defensive reaction?
Fix.
1. Zerglings now mutate in to roaches, not larvae.
2. Can only be done on the creep (Fall back with lings to retaliate with roach)
3. The gas cost of roach is removed, mineral cost increased, gas price placed on roach warren.
What I am least certain about is change 3, but at least the first and right step can be taken to make the roach a defensive macro reactor unit so that zerg can keep their macro going...
Last second thought: Either that or the roach remains the same and the zergling falls back to mutate in to zerg's defensive structures, spine/spore.
I know that either the zergling should be able to fall back and mutate in to something that can only be done on creep, either the roach has gas price removed and zergling mutates in to roach on creep, or the zergling comes the unit that mutates in to their defensive structures.
