Marine Tank Banshe raven 1 base push how to hold as a protoss?
Had a quick game just then on metal. Got owned by a 1 base terran play.
Tank with siege, Marine, Banshee and raven. I have attached the replay.
Please look over . i have been occurring this a lot on ladder. i am still unsure as to what to do .
Im assuming you mean a 1-1-1 all in as a 1 basing Terran. The build is designed to be very good against protoss so I will refrain from giving help so the high level protoss can give their advice
A robo will help (immortals own siege tanks), early pressure will help (catch his marines unbunkers with your stalkers is definitely in your favour) but really, I think this is a challenge for all levels of protoss to hold.
That's why we Terrans do it! muahaha
The marines are the true core DPS of this build, the tanks are just annoying for being able to take out your buildings from a distance and tipping the battle in terran's favour. PDD sucks for you if you are stalker heavy.
You need to:
#1 do a build with a good economy, ie. 1gate expand/nexus first.
#2 You need to go up to 3 gates + robo (gates earlier, robo no later than 6:00)
#3 You need to scout that he has no expansion at ~7:00
#4 You need to add another gateway and cut probes at 32-34
You defend this push with the following composition, 2 stalkers per banshee, a couple sentrys, as many immortals and zealots as you can get before his push.
Something like 1 base colossus won't work as you can get contained by a terran who knows what he's doing. 2 base colossus CAN work but it's extremely finicky and coin-flippy, ie if he pushes before you have colossus you lose.
With 1-1-1, once you learn this, if you lose no probes to any banshee/hellion/marine variation harrass, you will hold this 100%
^ just to add to yangs amazing advice there, the key point of the build is cutting probes and chrono'ing out as MANY zealots and immortals as you can. I usually add a 4th AND 5th gateway as soon as I realise he's doing 1/1/1 and use all my chrono on gateways.
The good thing about 5 gateways is even if you don't have the ground army to deal with the banshees in the initial engagement, the sheer number of zealots/immortals target firing tanks overwhelm his ground army, then you can warp in stalkers after to clear up the banshees that have no ground support. As long as you don't take economic damage, 99 times out of 100 he hasn't expanded, brought a lot of scv's and the game is over.

you just have to be really careful not to lose anything to initial harass, because this build is already hard to hold off even if he doesn't try any harass at all, let alone if you take damage.
There is also a build that is a hard counter to 1-1-1, which is 2-gate stargate robo. There are two reasons it works. First, it's doable on 1 base, which means you will have more zealots and less harass options for terrans. Second, instead of squishy stalkers, you get phoenixes that wtfroll banshees, ravens and can lift tanks. Otherwise, it's same concept of immortals and zealots, and same rules apply - engage in the open, don't let them siege up, don't lose probes, etc..
You can really only do it when you 100% know your opponent will be going 1-1-1, because you commit a lot of gas into stargate, and any transition from it will put you behind. I first saw this build in one of MC's GSL games, I'm sure there are plenty of examples from high level players.

lol. I see puzzle do on his stream alot times and he lost alot times too. As long as the terran scouts ur 'stargate', he can just add in barracks and make mass marines and hit at a slightly later timing since u are at 1 base. If you expand, he can just kill you. And u have blind open this build against 1-1-1 and it sucks against any bio FE build.. you can't even allin them.
I saw on grubby's stream today he dealt with a 1-1-1 buy getting Zealot Immo High Templar, Used feedback on the bahsees and strom on well everything else, was a tad micro intesinve but worked really well, and he scouted it quite late as well.
I have found (in the mid to low leauges) if you know it is coming you can 1 base coli and catch them before they siege and that works well also

I've tried rushing HT many times against 1-1-1, sometimes it doesn't work. I guess for Grubby, it was a late timing variation of 1-1-1, so he had the time to tech up. But yeah, HT is very good against the raven marine banshee one, as there will be no or late siege, and you can just feedback the PDD and the banshees. Besides, archons wtfroll things.

Lol what yang and lost said is the most effective way to defend the 111. To me, any other build has a much lesser chance in defending it. So please just listen to what yang and lost said.

Yeah i think it was late, he was harrassing with a stalker for awhile picked off a few mareins and scv's with it, maybe that did not, wasnt paying full attention, only strated once i noticed it was a 1-1-1 and rembered this post xD
