On the 11th day on the 11th month of the 11th year the most excited hyped up super candy coated game was released.
However, on the afternoon of the 10th I receive a text from EB games telling me that I could come down and collect the game. Of course I went straight there, slammed it into my CD drive and clicked install, thinking that I was mere minutes away from the game of my dreams. Alas I get this
So I waited until 12 midnight with the game files already installed on my computer. At the turn of the hour I click play and lo and behold, steam wants to download an update FOR THE GAME. I got it just hours ago and already an update. So I took it like a man and for the next 50 MINUTES I waited for 20 MB to download. Just like the 2000 people that clogging up the server. So at 12:50 I finally started playing even though I had to be speaking in front of over a thousand people in less than 8 hours.
Now it is two days later and I'm 13 hours into the best game I have ever played. It looks, plays and feels just amazing. Here is my two cents.
First off, If you liked Oblivion then you will LOVE Skyrim. It feels like the same game but don't be fooled, it is lots better. Improvements and new features will make this game all the more satisfying than it's prequel.
The most noticeable thing that changes is the magic and the weapons system. Instead of equipping weapons and casting spells, you now equip everything. You can put a spell in one hand and a sword in the other, two swords, shield and anything. But the best thing is when you use two spells they combine and cast a overcharged spell. It's effect is better and it is more magica efficient than just casting two normal spells. The shield has cool new effect, if you are hiding behind it then you can do a small attack to knock your opponent off balance then attack them.
The next thing is Dragons and shouts. The cool new opponents are everything that you want them to be. Landing and breathing fire and just being so damn awesome. Shouts are casted abilities that use your voice to have epic effects. Sprinting really fast or pushing people to the ground.
The best improvement though is just the general advances in graphics and smooth game play and overall awesomeness. The detail in items and monsters are exquisite in detail and the scripting makes the game feel so real.
Overall this game is all it has been hyped up to be and more. I suggest everyone play it at least once as soon as they can.
Scores:
Graphics 9/10 - The detail is great but some of the scenery is a bit off
Gameplay 10/10 - I cannot ask for more.
Story 9/10 - Great narraitve with many twists and turns
Overall 28/30

Skyrim's my first RPG of this type, and a good one it is. Its just an experience to play it, that's all I can say, but that may be because I don't play anything like it prior to this.
The shield has cool new effect, if you are hiding behind it then you can do a small attack to knock your opponent off balance then attack them.
in oblivion when you reach i think like master of shield skill you have a percentage chance to do a knockback which stuns and pushes the enemy npc back
other than that, im actually looking forward to playing skyrim once i buy both a new laptop and the game itself
that and i loved oblivion but didn't finish it cause I had to make space for more RPG-esque games (I blame oblivion and fallout for getting me into the rpg genre :P)

Graphics 9/10 - OMG FKING DRAGONS OMG OMG THEY ARE SO BADASS. OMG EVERYTHING IS MORE REALISTIC THAN OBLIVION HOW WTF ... But you do now and then notice a tree which is a metre above the ground, or a hill which you can see through a part of, or... your face disappears... Yeah, with the one selection of clothing I chose, my body actually disappeared, but the only part where you can see my skin is my face, so I just look headless. Although that IS kinda badass...
Gameplay 6/10 - Although they made improvements, I also feel like they took a lot away from the magic department... If I was playing an archer or a figther currently, then it'd probably be a higher score, but as of right now, I only ever use one lightning spell, because the rest other suck, use too much magicka and are useless with their extra effects (Chain lightning never seems to do what I want it to, and when it does, it does minimal damage) or aren't specialised for the spells Im teching to via perks. I definitely will replay the game as a different class, because I feel like Im missing out on a lot, but others would probably feel at home if its your first elder scrolls game.
Story 7/10 - Feels really similar to previous elder scrolls stories, and pretty predictable...
I got a free copy from Atomicon on the weekend and have played the first couple of minutes so far.
I have found a few glitches and bugs a long the way so far. A fair few people have commented about them but I'm sure Bethesda will patch the annoying ones sooner rather than later. A few I've noticed:
- My character has like 4 arrows stuck in him, and I can't seem to get rid of them - however other people have managed to so maybe I'm doing something wrong.
- When a giant hits me and kills me I go flying like a million miles into the air lol
I have the PC version and my friend who also has it has come across a problem with one of the missions near the beginning, a bug won't let him progress so he may have to start again.. after 5+ hours that would be damn annoying.
I'm a Morrowind fanboy, and i absolutely hated Oblivion. Here's why. The storyline was so bland, predictable and short. I don't care that there were expansions. I finished Oblivions main story in about 10 hours... thats just crap for an open world RPG. Secondly, i hated it because it seemed like they had dumbed it down for the masses. Polearms were out, crafting was easy, if you were a battlemage, by about 5 hours into the game you were unstoppable. Pointless. Absolutely pointless game, waste of space and should be retracted from ever being an Elder Scrolls game.
1. Randomly coded dragons. 'nuff said.
2. The crafting is complex. Damn complex. It's like they've gone "You know what, **** the masses. We're going to make a good game, the way we want to." YAAAY BETHESDA!
3. The storyline is long, there is actually a point to doing side quests and they get you involved in them so that you enjoy doing them. The storyline is also interesting and never gets dull (so far).
4. Dual wielding spells... 'nuff said.
5. Classes are out, skill points system is in. I like it. Moving forwards in terms of RPG class definitions.
Just a short 5 reasons why i think Skyrim is almost as good as Morrowind, and of course we can all agree (those of us that were older than 10 when we played it), that Morrowind is the best of the Elder Scrolls games. I will reserve my judgement on whether Skyrim is better for when i finish it.

Some Ling-Roach-All-in-Fake-Expo-10-pooling from Jerry there - Dox's bauss casting
- When you equip the quiver, you cannot remove it (or it stays on your model or something)
- When there is a scene that fades in my screen or a menu popup, I can actually see a sliver around the edges.. lol
- It doesnt work well with my dual screens, sometimes it will make my mouse go on the 2nd screen, I will click and it will alt-tab
- Alt-tabbing back in requires a technique. You need to alt tab in, alt tab out then alt tab back in again.

I found this with 1 and 4 of the above haven't seen the other yet.
Graphics are decent but I am also playing a mage and find it rather boring firebolt / fireball kills all... With alt tabing I find on windows 7 if i alt tab then quickly alt ctrl delete and cancel it , it does that windows splash screen and then my game is back up behind it.

Yeah I tried a mage, got bored of just spamming spells. Decided to remake as a berserk nord with a 2handed mace. I wholly recommend the Companion questline (Skyrim's Fighters Guild), very interesting and not just "go smash this".
Also: I punched a dragon in the face whilst my horse was (literally) kicking his ass. This is the second best $80 I've ever spent.
First time I've seen a review score out of 30 hehe. But yeah this game is amazing, I don't know when I'll ever be able to drag myself back to sc2. Like all bethesda games it's full of glitches and bugs, but is worth more than the sum of it's parts. For all the technical glitches and weaknesses of the graphics engine, I find it so stunning that I keep finding myself stopping mid gameplay just to look at the view as rainbows pour out of my eyes.
Loving the game so far. Although I have no idea why I get one shotted a lot. =/ But yeah, I love the fact that you can just wander around without advancing the main plot. Let's me explore caves and other stuff as well as random quests.
My computer though, is struggling to keep up with the game. Barely runs it although it set my graphics to high. Had to downgrade it to medium and set the priority for the program to high so that it doesn't freeze up. >.<
Finally got skyrim! God, looking at all the reviews, it does looks crazy exciting. Apparently I could run the game at ultra high settings, definitely improves the feeling of the game! And I especially love the fact that I could just go around doing weird stuff when I'm bored, prolly thats why GTA is so fun anyway as well xD
