Have you all noticed that our SC2 scene is dying? Especially in Sydney.
This was an epic community, and still has the potential to again become the biggest hub for SC2 in our area.
Weekend Warriors Sydney would like to contribute to that, but we need your help.
Starting on April 22nd, 2017, Weekend Warriors Sydney will be hosting a gamers meet EVERY ( Yes Every ) Sataday morning form 8am - 12pm, or later!?
We will be offering a multitude of activities, from friendly games, KOTH, Coaching, Streaming/Casting, Arcade games, tournaments, and what we are personally looking forward to is launching our own LEAGUE ( yes, with cash/pc gear prizes ) in early May.
While we are still ironing out the fine print ( We still have 6-7 weeks to go ), feel free to check out the facebook, website and youtube pages in the meantime. {{[ Please feel free to confirm your interest in attending the event on the facebook page, the venue we are going to use is in a very central location, but only has around 150-200 pc's. By booking early ( we can help you with this ) you are ensuring you have a spot, and we would love to have you!! ]}}
Breaking it down...
The Facebook page will: ( https://www.facebook.com/WeekendWarriors.Sydney/ )
- Be the main organisation for community events
- Main source of Photo's of events
- Contain links back to SC2SEA.com to help stimulate the community
- Contain links of partnered caster's, clan pages, and sponsors ( cross our fingers to get a few! )
The Website will: ( https://w33k3ndw4rr10rssyd.wixsite.com/weekendwarriors )
- Keep tabs on weekend action and results
- Keep tabs on league placings
- Keep tabs on tournament results
- Have links back to SC2SEA.com to help stimulate the community
- Have photo's from weekend action
The Youtube Channel will: ( update to channel link on website )
- Have recorded gaming video's with commentary to view ( hoping to gain multiple sources )
- Have recorded stream sessions from weekend action
- Have helpful playlists to assist new and veteran players in staying up to date with current meta
- Contain links to other SC2 caster's/streaming channels
- Have links back to SC2SEA.com to help stimulate the community
Help us help you to make our community strong again. We feel that what we are going to implement will be dynamic enough to keep players of all skill levels interested, but stable in a way that will promote learning and competitive advancement and achievement!
Looking forward to meeting a lot of you sydneysider's, thank you for taking the time to read through the essay haha.
Would be cool to rebuild the Sydney scene and SC2 scene in Australia in general but I don't think you would get many people with that time slot (it's very early). I'd recommend trying to get like an 11am-12pm start at the earliest if possible. Keep in mind that PiGSty Cups run from 11:30am-late if you want a guideline for time slots.

Yes we understand it is early, however here in Sydney a lot of venue's are actually 75% full by 11:30am-12pm. To get a group in at that time and attempt to get a cohesive set of PC's ( basically, peak hour ) is not only difficult but to actually reserve those seats will be costing the group more money than if they got up earlier. To simply walk in and reserve a PC for an hour is $2 per pc. We are offering to do this for anyone who confirms they are coming, on the basis they will pay on arrival.
Since we are just in start up, have no signed sponsor's or a member base, any cost towards holding pc's at this point of time for an unspecified turn up is unfortunately not a good business practice. We would like to keep cost's down for everyone until we have hit a sufficient level of growth.
The time session is just when we are planning on being there, holding seat's. We might even run past that time, since we already have the pc's!
Early bird gets the worm, and whilst this wont be appealing to ALL players, we wont be able to budge on time until we get a solid member base participating every Saturday.
Once we have a solid member base ( around 35-50 ), We can open the meeting times up to a later period in the morning, as we can guarantee the seats to the venue at a lower cost.
Hope that clear's up the reason's behind the morning schedule!

Hopefully I'll be able to attend. My involvement in the scene has been nil since moving to, and then returning from the US. Once the thesis is submitted I'll be hopefully be throwing myself back into the deep end.
