So since we have played 5 of our 11 matches for the season, I feel we now have enough games played that we can look at the numbers and get some cool info, and celebrate some our our achievements so far as a team (and also, get motivated to improve on them!). So here we go
ToRmentors - Half Season Results
10 players have represented ToR in Tier 5 this season...
Race Matchups
Our most commonly faced race is
Protoss
- we've played a combined 28 matches vs Protoss
vs has also been our greatest challenge - we've managed only 13 wins for 15 losses
vs , we've played 21 matches, with a record of 10-11
vs is far rarer to see, and who says Terran imba? In 7 appearances, we've beaten Terrans 4 times for only 3 losses.
vs has happened once, but the races have been included in the above numbers - our opponent drew Zerg and then Terran in his two matches
Peculiar Matches
In Week 4, we played league leaders
TAEdarus & Friends
. Despite winning more matches (7 to 6), we came away with a loss (2 to 4)
There will be more added to this as I continue working on it between games

Don't mean to whine but the inclusion of platinums in the league has really hampered our efforts in ace matches since we were just fielding BSG.
Also, the lack of practice is probably not helping us play our best.

This is true, but given this is a "lower" league, it's all about improvement, so I don't mind. We still have half a season to turn it around (and now we have some plats, and hopefully more just around the corner).
And I mean, even if we don't earn ourselves that promotion this season, we can make sure we put ourselves in the best spot to grab it in Season 3

Also, I'm working on it (bit more serious statistics involved) but the strength of the teams we have played should be taken into account. We've played mostly top of the table opponents so far - the tail end of the season might not be easy, but we have had a tough run so far.
We were talking last night about goals for the season. Maybe we can use this to base our goals on.
Like, since we only won just under 50% of our games, our goal for the 2nd half is to win 60% of our games. Maybe individually, we can try to top each other's records. Switch our focus to internal goals rather than external (external being we want to be placed higher than teams X, Y and Z)

Inclusion of platinums you say? include me in T5 then

Come join us, Dj! With only 2 plats, I think we're one of the teams who'll hold up the expansion of the 2 plats per week rule. Maybe we can convince the MaynMann!
According to Blizzard, the next patch will be released on SEA on the 27th of Feb, however the NA patch will be live on the 21st.
This is important as if you log onto NA with your client after the 21st but before the 27th, you will update your game and be unable to play on SEA for those 6 days.
I mention this as I can just imagine players updating their clients, messing up our ability to play SEACL, SEACC as well as other SEA events over the next week, which is something perfectly avoidable.
If you use a separate client (such as a Taiwan or Korean client) you are fine to update that one when the patch is live on those servers. This only really matters for the SEA/NA client as both servers are accessed from the 1 client through the region button on the login page.
I want to add to this a little something about where we are and what our road to the finals looks like from here on.
We want to win all our remaining games
Our opponents for the rest of the season are Zerocraft, FaDe and Fusion Slugs. Zerocraft are sitting above us on the ladder so the win is probably the most crucial (reason below). FaDe are hot on our heels and a win here will give us some much needed distance between us and 7th spot. It's not enough to guarantee a top 5 finish (assuming finals will in fact be top 5)
No matter how well we play, we can't guarantee a top 5 finish
That is, even if we win all our games, we can still place 6th. It requires strong showings from Krrn & Co, AsG and Zerocraft to do so - they all need to beat the higher placed teams QED Mixed Lollies and TA, while Mixed Lollies and TA have to also beat their other opponents outside the top 5. This scenario is unlikely, but it's also reliant on us winning all matches, which will be a tough road, so we can't exactly breathe easy.
We want league leaders to keep winning
3 of TA's 4 remaining matches are against teams above us on the ladder. The more the nearly uncatchable TA wins, the more points the current 3rd-5th placed teams miss out on, and the more likely we are to pip them at the post. QED also plays an important match against fellow QEDers Krrn & co - we want Mixed Lollies to take them out of course. If TA and Mixed Lollies both beat Krrn and we win all our games, we are through
TCP might be the most important team in the competition for us
If TCP, fresh from a bye this week, can topple both QED Krrn & Co and AsG, we will be in a strong position. TCP are due some wins on the board and we definitely need to get behind them to do so!
ZeroCraft vs AsG is awesome, no matter what
Current 3rd and 4th placed teams ZC and AsG are sitting even currently (pending the outcome of the currently 2-2 ZC match this week). Only one can win, which means one of them must necessarily have a blemish in their record. If the team that loses that match also loses another, that puts us in a strong position as long as we can win all our matches. If ZC wins their in progress game, we definitely want them to lose this match, but either way if we win all our matches, we force BOTH ZC and AsG to win all their matches to stay safe.
So there we have it. We can only give it our best and we are still in a tight spot. By no means are we out of contention if we drop our match vs ZeroCraft next week, but the difficulty increases and we will rely more on others' results. So cheer TA & QED Mixed Lollies, cheer TCP, and most importantly, play hard
