Main Story: The GLaDe Fairytale mOOnGLaDe aka the "Hope of SEA" who is now in Korea, continues on his magical run and defeats aLtAaron 3-1 in the SEA IEM Finals. He then goes on to defeat WE.Loner 3-1 in the SEA vs CHN/TW final match and therefore earns the right to represent Asia in the IEM Finals in Germany. Amazing stuff!
He then goes on to obtain CODE A status, along with Ret, Huk and Haypro, so we can look forward to watching him on GSL next month, how awesome is that?
Other scene happenings
In other SEA news, inF takes the #1 Top 200 spot this week, MSSPhoenix releases a cool tribute video for SSL#3 Champ aLtOxygeN, and skybreaker comes up with an awesome guide for BSGers sharing the skills he learnt to move from Bronze to Silver.
JesseTheKING releases a brilliant replay pack featuring clever innovative play against the top tier of SEA. ddengster has done an amazing writeup "Air Force Jesse" of his game vs aLtAaron.
altKingJesse(red) spawns at the bottom, altAaron(light blue) spawns at the top.
Aaron starts off with a standard one gate-core into stargate, while Jesse opts for an early 2nd gas even before his barracks completes.
2nd gas even before the barracks completes
Aaron then gets a 2nd gate, and uses the new void ray and some stalkers to apply some pressure onto Jesse's front. Except that Jesse is more than ready for the incoming pressure. A bunker, a marine and a stalker are the only casualties before Aaron backs off.
This smells of 3warpgate stargate all in - except that it isn't.
Meanwhile, Jesse has his 1-1-1 base up already, as well as a second orbital command. A single banshee, and vikings are being pumped out and cloak is being researched. And back in protoss land, a robotics facility has warped in followed by a robotics bay. Jesse uses his banshee to do some harrassment, netting a total of 4 probe kills.
A lil early for a robo bay don't you think?
The banshee manages to escape, and Aaron throws down his expansion nexus at his natural. Meanwhile, Jesse throws down a few starports and barracks while taking his natural expansion. He attempts to harrass with his banshee again but loses it.
Concerned with the increasing banshee count, Aaron pumps out a few phoenixes while pumping out colossus. Jesse attempts to harrass with a 2nd banshee, but is deflected easily.
Epic save!
Thanks to Jesse's high starport count, he is able to pump out a great number of banshees along with a raven, backed up with marines, 2 tanks and 2 vikings. Both players take out their gold rocks, and clash at Aaron's gold base.
Fyi, Jesse cut svcs to do this unique 2base all-inish push.
Aaron's phoenixes arrive late to the battle only to see the protoss ground forces being eradicated. They take their frustrations on the banshees. Fortunately, he is able to warp in units to save his gold base. Meanwhile, Jesse takes his own gold base and Aaron attempts to harass it with his army, but is forced back by a banshee at his gold base and another banshee at the outskirts of his main base.
2 pronged harass.
Yet another attempt at dropping marines in Aaron's main nets a grand total a 2 pylons and more time for Jesse to gather his forces. During this time, Jesse takes the opportunity to harass Aaron's gold mineral line yet again.
2 pronged harass redux.
Aaron tries to get a 4th base up and Jesse tries to drop it with marines.
The light blue dots at Aaron's backdoor ridge are cannons
Realizing that he could not allow his opponent to take a 4th base, Jesse pushes to Aaron's 4th base.
Note that there are no more marines to kill.
Thanks to Jesse's ridiculous air force, Aaron finds himself winning the ground battle but losing the air battle, and eventually loses the war and the game.
- It's absurd how long Jesse managed to stay afloat on 41 scvs 20+ minutes into the game.
- Aaron played a little too defensively and was fearful of banshees. Note that at ~12mins he had observers stuck in both his bases - an indication of his fear of banshee harassment. Throughout the game, he didn't try to find out what direction his opponent's army was taking, mostly due to the fact that Jesse was constantly applying pressure on him.
- The banshees within Jesse's game plan were used to great effect. The amount of attack power the banshee has and what it forces your opponent to do should not be overlooked.
