I'm pretty much terrible in PvT compared to my other matchups, and it sucks. I've been using SaSe's double gas opener, and I can't seem to get a working followup for it. There's always a timing window where the terran is 20 or more supply up on me, and if he attacks me, I die, if he doesn't I'm fine.
I just have no idea what to do - change my opener, be more aggressive/more passive?
http://drop.sc/218006 - There's an example replay, I could probably get many more like this.
I play really defensive and have no trouble with Terran really aslong as you get some tech out to defend. Then just get more bases through some minor aggression make sure to leave defense for drops. scout with obs. I find a very safe solid opener is 1gate expand into 3gate then get robo 2 obs twilight and warp prism 2 more gates and a forge constant probes unless you see them all inning you get DT's and when the terran goes to be aggressive drop dt's in their base or immortals. Use forcefields back at home to cut their army and take it down. you can transition into collosi or archons if need be. Also keeps your upgrades up to par with theirs. from that you just get 3rd base more tech macro up and hold him on 2 base and win.

I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
well normally they hit a 2 medivac timing which is either 9 mins or 11 minutes so u have to scout then react like by 11 mins normally u would have 6 gates depending what ur doing tho if ur doing 5-8 gates depending what builds ur doing
first off, i think placing your forges at the natural is a bad idea since they're so exposed if he does an elevator with the medivacs. That didn't happen here, but it could in another game.
The reason that "if he attacks you die, if he doesn't you win" is because you're playing very greedily, leaving yourself vulnerable now in exchange for an advantage later in the game. Instead of making units you are investing in tech and upgrades, which will help you later, but not now. This is why your army is smaller. That's not bad macro, it's just the way your build works. You have lots of money invested into double forge, twilight, templar tech, extra gates, which will help you later, but not now.
This isn't bad. All protoss do this, it's just how the game works now, and to be honest your build is fine and I might steal it. It was just a slip of macro in this game - you didn't react to your opponent moving out fast enough, you didn't warp in units constantly enough earlier. You had about 700 minerals 600 gas just as he hit you, if those were 5 zealots and an archon you would have crushed the army and been able to take a third easily. Furthermore, your forcefields/guardian shield were too slow and he just pushed up and killed all of your zealots before you could do anything about it.
So, don't change your opener, don't be more aggressive, don't be more passive (you can't be more passive, since you're already 100% passive in this game besides the early pressure - which was effective). Just need that extra warp in of units to crush his army.
