Tutorial: Buying / Setting up your Korean Starcraft 2 account
Setting up your Korean Starcraft 2 account
Tutorial by nirvAnA
20th Feb 2013 Update: Since the introduction of Global Play, the KR and SEA accounts serve as standalone WoL accounts too that can play on any region. They are available for just $39.90 AUD. Be sure to create a NEW account and apply the code to it.
(Video tutorial is longer then the text version below so only watch it if you hate reading. Thanks System for doing it!)
Buy a TW/KR account from our store rightHERE!!
(If you are looking for the SEA/NA version instead please go here.)
Sc2sea.com is the only English website that allows you to buy "Korean" Starcraft 2 accounts legally. To start playing on the Korean server you can simply buy Starcraft 2 from our shop now. These "Korean" accounts are actually Taiwanese accounts but because Taiwan accounts have access to the Korean servers, they are nearly identical to the Korean ones. Not only are they alot cheaper, the most important benefit is you are not required to enter a Korean social security number to activate your account (which is required by Korean law for all online games in Korea) which you would need if using a Korean account. Previously the only way to play on Korea was to obtain a Korean resident's identification number and use it, which is actually against the law. Once you have bought from our shop and received your code in your PM inbox, you can start playing on Korea legally in just two easy steps!
Please follow these instructions carefully to avoid disappointment.
Disclaimer: this is a guide I personally I created after going through the process myself, to help players get started playing on Korea as quickly as possible. As such, neither me or sc2sea.com will not be held liable for potential damages in any way, shape or form. This guide and the accompanying screen shots are not allowed to be replicated anywhere else without permission.
Step 1: Activate your Starcraft 2 TW/Korean license in less than 1 minute
Follow one of these this direct links that take you to the "Add a game/Activate your code" page on Blizzards Site. If you are an NA / EU user you can use the NA / EU Site to add the game, it doesn't matter which region site you go to as its all connected to the Blizzard global DB and they do the same thing.
It will prompt you to log in first. Your blizzard sc2 account works globally on all the region sites so just enter the userid/password you normally use to connect to battle.net. DO NOT create a new account as you will be asked for a Taiwan ID and that is not recommended. It is infinitely easier to just add your TW key to your existing account.
After logging it, it will take you to the "Activate code" page directly. All you need to do is enter the activation code given to you in your sc2sea inbox!!
They will prompt you to confirm and so click continue. Make sure the region shows Taiwan (Well of course it will show Taiwan!)
Success! You are now the proud owner of a Taiwan/KR account, and look you even have a free name change yay! Best of all you obtained it 100% legally, without fear of violating Blizzard's TOS. You can now download the appropriate installer for your operating system.
Aright so you have an account, what now? You have two options, download the official client on the page you are at now, or use a relocaliser.
The official client is 6GB and will take a few hours to download. However, with this method you won't have to worry about reinstall issues and corrupt versions that the relocalizer is notorious for, especially after patch changes. If you have the time and internet bandwidth I highly recommend this way of installing a new version of the TW Starcraft 2 client on your computer. I will only cover the official client install. Use of relocalizers falls into a "grey area" but I have provided some information to point you in the right direction if that is what you are after (or you lack in the internet bandwidth, have download issues, etc.) and it is covered at the bottom of this post.
Official Client Install:
Important: After patch 1.5 a few customers have mentioned Blizzard is directing them to download the KR client. This is WRONG. You need to download the Taiwan Client instead. Here are the official Blizzard links to download the client directly, you do not need to be logged in or buy the account yet and anyone can download it. Please use these links to ensure you download the right version.
After you save the region version you want, click Win or Mac. The file you download should end with zhTW.exe
Note that a clean install generally takes at least 1-2 hours to set up depending on your internet speed. The steps are self explanatory after being translated. Note: I've updated the key areas with screenshots for the new UI after patch 1.5 but some of them are with the old interface. However, they are more or less the same and are easy to follow.
This is the most important step of the install:
Remember to choose a different folder to install Starcraft 2. Do this by clicking on the button, which will take you to a place where you can choose the directory to install it to. Right click on a blank area in the directory tree to create a new folder, and rename it to something for e.g "Starcraft KR" After that highlight that new directory and click select folder. If you forget to do this step the starcraft installation will overwrite your existing starcraft directory and corrupt your SEA/NA/EU installation. So CHANGE the installation folder!!!
Click the bottom button. Basically it says you need a battle.net account to play starcraft 2. The first button just says go to battle.net if you dont have an account yet to apply your code. Second button says continue if you have your account activated already (you should have if you followed step 1 right) so click that.
Lastly, once you log on to the Taiwan client just agree to everything (left button) to continue. Great success! The end!
Note: Once logged in on Korea, when you go under multiplayer the practice league is the left button at the bottom and "skip practice league" is the right button.
For those getting the "You need an authorized language pack" error
Open up this file in your documents folder with notepad
e.g
User\My Documents\Starcraft II\Variables.txt
Change the two locale variables to the appropriate client language e.g zhTW or enSG or enUS depending on which client you are using, Taiwan, SEA or NA.
Code:
localeidassets=zhTW
localeiddata=zhTW
Alternatively instead of putting "zhTW" put "????" and it will automatically detect which client u are using and use the appropriate language pack, really useful if u are using 2 clients so you don't have to keep switching.
Fix 1: Without bootcamp - Credit to sfaf for the solution)
Go to (your username)>Library>Application Support>Blizzard>Starcraft II>Variables.txt
From there you can change these to:
localeidassets=zhTW
localeiddata=zhTW
or
localeidassets=????
localeiddata=????
The question marks is the better way imo and is tested and works for macs. Make sure you save the file.
Fix 2: Use a new account or bootcamp. - Credit to NoxGamer for alerting me to this and providing the solution
The language pack problem is a little more problematic on Mac. The Variable.txt is located under each account rather than the client (as it is on windows). Because the two clients are on the same account, the language packs conflict and it doesnt recognize the TW language pack.
This can be fixed my making a brand new SEA/NA account to apply your key to or by using bootcamp (more recommended). Bootcamp if you don't know allows you to run windows on a Mac and will also be very useful when encountering other programs that do not support Mac formats.
These errors are not common and you should not have to worry about them. But here they are in case, basically its all the errors our customers have ever run into.
"Failed to download patch, please make sure you are connected to the internet"
You likely have your firewall still up for this blocking access to the game as its not dectecting the games network connection to the internet.
"this is going to take a long time (15-60 mins), once it starts don't cancel it".
Basically the client needs to be patched / optimized. Left button to continue, right button to close. If you get another window with only one button after it's probably the one which says not enough free disk space; you need ~8/9 GB free for it to install the patch (just for the optimising process, you get it back afterward.credit: paperclip)
For this error, the official custom support has been unable to help either and its likely patch 1.5 related so here is a work around method.
Work around method
(This assumes your current SC2 NA/SEA/EU client works perfectly.)
Step 1: Copy your whole working SC2 directory somewhere else, so you always have the original as a back up that works perfectly.
Step 2: With the new directory you created, try using the relocaliser here and applying the relocaiser to it
Q: My SC2 installer gets stuck during the install at 1% and won't move anymore! Help!
This is because your SC2 CD is still in the CD-ROM drive and the installer is unsure if it should read from the CD or your hard drive. Simply take out the SC2 CD from your CD-ROM drive and try again.
Will I lag on the Korean server? First test your ping!
Before you decide to buy an account make sure to test your ping. If you're gonna lag hard on Korea, it simply won't be worth it to get an account. Although this is unlikely it is better to be safe than sorry! In most cases theres nothing to worry about because this isnt the era of 56kbps modems anymore and most of us have high speed internet! To begin, Click on Start (Windows Button) then type in CMD in the run box
It doesn't matter which directory you are in, just type in "tracert us.battle.net", "tracert eu.battle.net" or "tracert sea.battle.net" depending on which server YOU are from to find out your current ping to your current server. For e.g if you're from the US, to make comparisons with the Korean and NA servers just type in "tracert kr.logon.battle.net" and "tracert us.battle.net" respectively. The simple way of interpreting tracert results is to look at the last few hops and compare them to each other. Generally anything under 250ms is playable but it also depends on your tolerance to lag. As a guideline you would want a relatively similar ping values from US/KR (so latency is similar as well) and to not exceed 300ms. But hey if you built up your lag tolerance and are used to playing at 300ms and get a similar result on KR it just means that you will be playing with the same level of latency there.
Note: For those unsure, the most accurate way to test your lag will be by requesting a free KR Guest Pass from us, the steps can be found at the bottom of this guide.
My case is slightly different because the SEA server is located in Singapore so all Singaporeans get about 12ms which is similar to LAN latency haha My ping to Korea is very acceptable at about 220ms. My ping to NA (not shown) is about 210ms so there is very little difference for me in playing on NA and KR, and both KR and NA latencies are definitely playable as they are quite far under 300ms. A cute story to share is xGkingnMafia laddered on SEA with a 350ms latency for the whole of last year. This is why his LAN tournament results (where uses a better ISP) are so much better than his online tournament results! Lag is an important factor for any competitive game
Q: I'm new to the site where is my PM inbox? How do I receive the code?
Your inbox is found at the top left hand corner of the site. In addition, when your code gets send you will be notified of the message through your email as well.
Q: I'm waiting for my keys to be in my inbox and i'm really bored! What can I do now?
To ensure minimum waiting time, my advice to you is to start downloading and patching the TW client from the official blizzard site right away by following this link. You do not need the Taiwan account to download the file so it makes sense to just download and patch the client first. The account activation will take less than 1 minute once you get your key
Q: I got threw the installer part, but when it got too showing the patches and stuff it was still in TW and then it displayed the patch notes in english help?! Aka when i start patching the client the language turns into English. Is this something i should worry about ?
Not to worry, it retrieves the battle.net news reads based on Internet cookies from the battle.net portal you visit, so its likely to display in English. If you installed it right the client will be in chinese after you install all the patches.
Q: I can't log in, is the Korean server up?
TL has an awesome thread where they keep track of the status here. Check it here first before PMing me. Obviously if the KR server happens to be down for maintenance you won't be able to log in, but it doesn't happen often and it lasts for a few hours when it does go down.
Q: Why not just buy if off the tw.battle.net site?
That's because you can't! Digital licenses work differently for the TW region and you need something called "MyCard points", which are extremely hard to find because you have to buy them in Taiwan Shops or only through giving out your credit card and identification documents to Chinese websites you have never heard off. We at sc2sea.com make it extremely easy by going to the official distributor directly.
Q: How will it be shipped to me?
It won't. This is the digital version. You will be PMed on sc2sea your unique key which will allow you to activate the region on your account and download the game, like how all digital versions work.
Q: I bought my account but still have not received my order. Help!
Please allow one day for payment verification purposes. You will receive a PM when your order has been processed so refresh sc2sea every few hours. If for some reason so you have not received your key after 2 working days, contact me here. and you will be compensated adequately.
Q: Do I need a new account?
No, you can have multiple regions / games activated on a single battle.net account, e.g an NA and a Taiwan license is fine. That was the "Revolution" of Bnet 2.0 to make it easy for users to keep track of their games. However, you can only have a single license per region. So if you want to have TWO Taiwan accounts for yourself, you need two battle.net accounts as well.
Q: Do I need a Korean or Taiwan ID?
Nope, as long as you have an existing account all you need to do is add your Taiwan account to it. If you wish to make a brand new account, make it on the NA/SEA website first as a new account rather than the TW website and from there just follow the tutorial.
Q: Do I need to reprogram my custom key set up?
Nope, if you bind the TW client to your main account, your custom hotkey setup follows you there.
Q: How do I change the Taiwan SC2 client to English?
That is not possible, and that is one of the limitations of the different Starcraft clients. It is in Traditional Chinese but based on your past experience, everything should be intuitive enough and easy to navigate, all hotkeys are the same, etc! If this is your first copy of SC2 i strongly recommend buying the NA/SEA one instead to get familiar with the game first then move on when you're ready for the land of Korea!
Update: Gerlan came up with a set of screen shots / tutorials if you plan to do keybinding/gfx control customization and need help with navigating the menus - check it out here!
Q: Can I use this account with a KR client?
Nope this is basically a Taiwan account so you will need to download and install the TW client and log in through it as well. So it will not work in Korea PC Bangs unless you bring your own USB drive and play from it. But once logged in, it shares the exact same server as the KR client.
Q: I still have questions! How can I get Customer Support? I need help!
Not to worry, contact me here or here and I will save the day.
The tracert guide as above should be accurate enough, but if you are still unsure of the latency and want a 7 hour / 14 day guest pass to test your connection out, simply fill up korean guest pass request form!
Note: To prevent abuse you would need a minimum of 10 posts and they have to be of a decent quality to be given a free guest pass. If you cannot access the form it means you do not meet the minimum post requirements. If you make 10 worthless posts with one line gibberish your request will be ignored. We are handing out free passes so c'mon, the least you should do is write proper stuff.
Optional: Playing with Korean sounds in patch 1.5!
Basically this makes your TW Client have Korean game sounds without violating any of Blizzard's TOS or using any third party applications. Credit goes to KAiZ3R who discovered this and made a thread about it on TL. I have tested it myself and it works as intended, but only adds the Korean SOUNDS and not the menu changes. The fantastic thing about it is it doesn't use any third party applications. This guide here will be heavily based on KAiZ3R's guide. Although it allows you to have any language sounds for any installation, we will only cover the way to let you have Korean sounds for the TW client installation because thats what we want here!
Step 1: Install the TW client as explained in this guide. Step 2:Download this file - koKR.txt (Windows users: Right click on the words > save link as. Mac users: Command click on the link (hold the button with the apple, on the keyboard and click > save link as/ target as) and place it in the folder "versions" of the Starcraft2 directory you installed it in. i.e it should look like this
Windows Folder: C:\Program Files\StarCraft II TW\Versions\ Mac Folder: /Applications/StarCraft II TW
It should be in the same place as the folders named Base15405, Base16561, etc.
Step 3: Go back to your SC2 directory and this time to go to the support folder i.e C:\Program Files\StarCraft II TW\Support\ and run Repair.exe. If you did everything correctly, the main window will show that it has detected an extra locale and begin checking game files. Basically this tricks in game into thinking you have a Korean version of SC2 which was identified by the .txt file and it now begins downloading the sounds for it. The whole repair procedure will take about 2 hours to run. For me, the progress bar did not even come up till after 10 mins, so if it "hangs" just be patient and wait it out. It will look like this.
Step 4: Final step would be to edit your Variables.txt file.
On PC, it should be located within your My Documents folder at: C:\Users\YourNameXXX\Documents\StarCraft II\Variables.txt On MAC, it will be at ~/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/StarCraft II/Variables.txt
Look for the line localeidassets=xxXX (If you're from NA xxXX will be called enUS, etc) and replace it with localeidassets=koKR.
The cool thing is this will not affect your other installations, whenever you run SC2 it will check the directory its running from so since there is no koKR.txt file in your NA/SEA/EU installation folder it will still have English voices and of course if you want them to have it just follow the same steps.
Step 1: Copy your whole working SC2 directory somewhere else, so you always have the original as a back up that works perfectly.
Step 2: With the new directory you created, try using the relocaliser here and applying the relocaiser to it
People have played with this reloaciser already so its confirmed and tested to be working.
Pre-Patch 1.5
Basically a relocalizer allows you to have just "one" copy of Starcraft 2 installed on your computer. Each time you want to play on a different server, you run the relocalizer, which configured the files in that installation automatically for you, into those that suit the server you wish to play on.
Warning: We officially do not support the use of a relocalizer as it might be violating Blizzard's TOS so use it at your own risk and do not ask questions about it in this thread, they will be ignored. This relocalizer was last tested and found to be working by PurpleChef on 15th Feb 2012.
This is the relocailizer that LiquidJinro uses. Primadog does a very good writeup of it on TL here which has everything you need to know about it.
Before you begin - First step you should take is to copy and paste your current SC2 directory and call the new duplicate folder (SC2 relocalized). This way you will always have perfectly fine working backup to go back to should anything go wrong.
You should only be using this if
You have problems downloading the client.
Your have internet bandwidth / diskspace constraints.
You are prepared to reconfigure it every patch.
Remember that a new install with the official client will take longer but in the LONG-term it will save you a lot more time, whereas the relocalizer might be a "quick-fix" but every now and then you have to do the annoying process of updating or reinstalling SC2 as well as running it every time you wanna switch regions.
I hope your activation has been much easier with the help of this guide.
Feel free to use this thread to ask questions or to share your Korean account ID information with each other.
PMing ensures I get notified faster. Please do NOT make a new thread, if i'm not online at that moment ask in the chatbox or post in this thread and someone will likely reply quickly.
Thank you for posting this detailed outline. I have been looking for a week on how to do this. I just purchased it from the site. I am going to do this when I get home from work tonight.

Managed to get my client all sorted before your post (wish I saw it before), oddly enough patching the TW client took longer than downloading the client and installing the game combined.
The internet does weird things sometimes.
Note that you should probably add:
If you have the Starcraft 2 DVD with the SEA / NA version on it, the TW client will NOT INSTALL. Took me ages to figure it out, I had the DVD in there so I could see the install options in English and make sure I hit the right buttons. Left the DVD in the drive and just scratched my head for hours over why the TW client wasn't installing past %1 completion.
Thanks to your post they have a translation of all the installer's buttons unlike my experience
Tried Tracert to KR and was quite happy to see that it was around 150-160ms from Thailand.
Downloading rate for the client was around 200-350 KB/Sec, so it took around 8 hours until finish. ^__^
I bought the TW KR Version from the Store, everything was going by smoothly as far as the Battle.net instructions, then when the Blizzard Downloader comes up it gives me a ridiculous amount of time for estimation completion (something like 48 hours to 100 even at times) my internet connection slows down abruptly. But as soon as I cancel the download, everything back to normal. I test my connection at speedtest.net and as of right now I get an average of ->
hey soulja, that is unfortunate but i'm glad there was nothing wrong on our side as you got your key activated and working perfectly!
your problem appears to be a downloading issue using the blizzard downloader. you could try to follow these instructions for "Slow download speeds using the Blizzard Downloader"
remember to off any p2p you may have in the background, also if you have a firewall, be sure that it is set up to allow for incoming connections on Ports 6881-6999 for the TCP (also called TCP/IP) protocol. http://us.blizzard.com/support/artic...rticleId=21065
if that still doesn't work, blizzard will be more than happy to help through their customer support form. https://us.battle.net/support/en/ticket/submit We are basically like a game store that provides a perfectly working game so if its a download/blizzard related issue and not a activation issue you would have to ask them as that's how things normally happen in game stores too. But i hope this has helped point you in the right direction!
Is it possible to download and use the Korean client instead of the TW one?
nope. it is essentially a taiwan account with korean server access so you have to go through their client. unlike na/sea the servers arent kept separate so theres no choice of sever, they are now a combined one but each with their own different account/id verification process.
However, just want to check whether any of you have this similar problem,
After I install the Taiwanese client, my Starcraft would hang when it reaches the logon screen. I would have to open it offline, then plug in my internet then logon. And the same problem for my SEA version.
Maybe it's just a coincidence and has nothing to do with the taiwanese client, but it's just super annoying to open starcraft in that manner.
if your sc2 was already crashing for your sea version then the problem can't be the TW version, its probably some underlying MAC compatibility issue! I suggest following this check list of common problems mac users face
Added two testimonials to the product page. Thanks guys!
Zanko: This how to guide by Nirvana on getting set up on the KR / TW server was amazing. When I purchased my game code from the online store I received it almost instantly. As for the walkthrough since I only speak English I was able to simply follow the pictures provided and be done with process in a matter of 5 minutes. Thanks again, as this would have taken me a lot more work and time if I had to do it completely on my own.
newbieta: I did follow your tracert note and found that I got a good control on KR server as the result was around around 150-160ms. Upon installing, I only referred to your tutorial page and found that it was very informative and helpful. No difficulties. So from my experience above, I want to happily tell everyone who is interested in getting KR account that SC2 Store will not disappoint you at all. I myself never play SC1 but got SC2 a month ago, joined SC2SEA a couple of weeks ago, subscribed TGM few weeks ago and finally got KR account from SC2SEA few days ago - I am sure all of you guys love SC2 and 99% are here much much longer than me. I mean now, as a complete newbie, I know SC2SEA.com is the site of quality but not only you guys already know that but also you all "Feel and Believe It", right? I now really enjoy playing on KR/TW server so much, listening to in-game Chinese sound made me feel more relaxing as I have no idea what she is telling. I have to pay more attention to mini map and that helps improve my SC2 basic. I will of course be better but only after I lose, lose and lose much enough. I will come back to SEA when I am in Gold or Platinum. Please keep doing the great contents and products for SC2SEA, Bryan.
korendir you have to go through the store, sorry Paypal will help you auto convert. Best to convert and pay in USD because SGD is strong vs USD at the moment. To check the ping follow the instructions at the top of the guide
new testimonial added.
Xenomorph: "The KR server is very challenging and I was very impressed with how fast I got my key, which was within an hour. I have had zero issues with my account and am enjoying it very much. "
Yeap James thats in the FAQ actually lol, cant change it to english unless u hack the sc2 files or smth
Q: How do I change the Taiwan SC2 client to english?
That is not possible, and that is one of the limitations of the different Starcraft clients. It is in Traditional Chinese but based on your past experience, everything should be intuitive enough and easy to navigate.
The TW server has been combined with the KR server so yes it is the "kr" server just that you use the TW client to access it. And if u get lonely remember to hang out in channel "sc2sea" the guys started a practise/imnotalone channel there haha.
im from aus and did the ping test for the 3 servers and got 200 NA, 400 SEA, 400 korea. when i play on sea and NA i dont see any difference in delay but korea could be different so im not sure if i should get it or not.
any thoughts?

post a screenshot of your tracerT results and ill try to help.
I am no expert in reading them but if your NA and KR pings are similar, and you dont feel lag on NA, then you shouldn't feel lag on kr as well. The weird thing here is you don't feel a difference in lag in SEA / NA although the pings to the servers are quite different.
Disclaimer: Based on my limited knowledge of tracert, i believe the following.
The first few hop values are your router / settings, then next the isp and the host's router and the final values are the the ping to the actual host server.
US shows a ping of 200ish MS
SEA shows a ping of 400ish MS
KR shows a ping of 400ish MS
Based on the results shown, the best server to use in terms of the least lag appears to be the US server. SEA should lag quite abit more than the US server, and KR should be similar to SEA in terms of the lag. Can you double confirm that there is no difference in lag between SEA and US for you? (play some test games with the computer and spam the worker rally point at different locations to see delay) This is the part that puzzles me.
Conclusion: Although not 100% conclusive, it is my opinion that you should NOT play on KR unless you can stand playing on 400ms lag / on SEA. Hope that helps
I don't know where else i can post this, the general forum seemed like the most appropriate one so here it goes!
I just made a new account today and i believe it said that i will not have access to private messaging until my account is 1 week old. However i bought the Starcraft II Tw/Kr pack for 59.90 AUD. Does this new account thing mean that i can't recieve PM's as well? If so how would i go about getting my item? Would i have to wait a whole week or what?
Not to worry, although you don't have access to PMs yet you will still be able to see the msg through your email. We have had many people with 0 posts who have been able to check their msg and get their account activated right away.
Also, the maximum waiting time to receive your code is 12 hours. Most are done within 30 mins. I have just sent you your activation code. Have a look in your email and if you require anything else do let me know. Thanks
Just bought it, thanks for the guide looking forward to playing on these servers . Thank you for taking the time to write this, and help the customers out NirVana, wouldn't have bought it without this guide.
Awaiting the code can't wait :P.

Ok so i'm having a little trouble now. I did everything as you did and then when i open my TW SCII. It starts to update, but when it gets to 50% it just closes and the blizzard update app comes up in english. Now everytime i try to open my TW SCII, it just opens my NA SCII. My NA SCII isn't completely updated/patched, but that shouldn't exactly effect my TW SCII right?
thefritz make sure your CD is not inside the CD-Rom drive during the install. That is the exact cause that stops the install at 1% every time!
tate2j your code has been sent to your email / pm.
aasian your existing NA version should not affect the install. I believe its because you did not change directory as mentioned in the guide. Please try changing the directory to a fresh one (just add TW behind e.g C:\Starcraft II TW) and give it a go again
The most probable reason why the shortcuts are opening the same file is because they were installed in the same directory, perhaps by mistake when you first installed the TW client. To confirm this, what you need to do is right click on your shortcut icon, go to "properties" and look at the information path under "target".
If it was installed under separate directories correctly, it would appear different like this.
But if you see them pointing to the same identical target link, it could be because of one of two reasons.
Reason 1: You correctly installed in the same directory but the shortcut key points to the same folder (unlikely)
If this is the case just change the target to point to the actual taiwan installation directory.
Reason 2: You have made separate folders for the shortcuts instead of a separate installation directories during the client install.
Make sure you have changed the installation folder as shown in this step. If you didn't you probably installed the TW client into your NA client's directory which corrupted the install, so Blizzard is unable to correctly determine your game version and thus cant patch.
To fix this problem i would recommend deleting all versions of SC2 from your computer. After that do a clean install of the Tw Client following the installation steps carefully from the beginning. (Just run the installer you already downloaded). And to play on NA you would need to install the NA client as well and in a SEPARATE directory.
I've got the key for the KR/TW account, and it works great, and better than I've expected. I'm already playing on the ladder and it's a blast, much different than the NA server everyone seems to do a lot of 1-base tactics xD. If anybody else who has purchased this wants to play / practice and what not add me IdrALisK.251 on the Taiwan account. I'm lonely on it so far xD.
Hi tutsi, to answer your question our store allows you to obtain it 100% legally as we get the keys straight from the official blizzard distributor for Taiwan.
Sure you might find it cheaper on some other chinese / warez/ cd-key resale sites, I cant vouch for their legitimacy and it would vary from site to site. Many of those sites require you to provide credit card / IC verification scanned in and sent to them, and they also allow you to sell your existing CD keys to them so they can resell it - which makes you wonder what you are paying for.
We are strictly against CD-Key resale and you can purchase your account here 100% legally without any fear of violating Blizzard's TOS or having your account suddenly closed.
Added testimonials from tate2j and Sidoney to the product page.
Sidoney: I ordered my Korean account on SC2.com at about 10pm one night. To my supprise the details were in my inbox by about 7am the next morning! Everything went smoothly following the instructions from nirvAnA. Would recomend this way to anyone who is thinking about playing on the KR server. Thank you SC2SEA!
Note for anyone who installs the TW client alongside their current client: if you uninstall the TW client, your original client will most likely be messed up too, due to things that are shared between both installations in the registry (I believe).
Personal experience when I recently uninstalled my TW client.
It may also mess up the file associations for replays (in that it will go to the TW client instead of your old one, due to it being installed more recently)
Our supplier has made it even easier for you to activate your account. You can now do so by simply entering your game key directly and it takes less than 20 seconds. No more having to go the "myPoints" process.
Also a testimonial from SkyBreaker has been added!
SkyBreaker: I recently purchased the TW/KR account from the SC2SEA store; and everything from the transaction to the delivery of the code was nothing short of amazing! I was also lucky enough to be the first to receive the code with this refined method - which made an already easy process, even easier! The TW/KR license is a great way to compete in a different region of the world; and see how things are played differently in the Mecca of StarCraft gaming! Big thanks to Nirvana for his efforts and I highly recommend purchasing a TW/KR account via SC2SEA! Good luck & have fun!
Can't recommend this enough guys! Go purchase one now, everything from the transaction to following this guide is impeccable! Nirvana for doing this for the community!
I believe it is actually possible to change the language back to english, there is a 3rd party program I saw on TL that changes the localization of the client so you can have it in a different language.
As specified in the installation instructions (Hope you followed it, i have also made this stand out more now) - you should have either used a relocaliser or installed in a separate directory, meaning you should have two different client installs on your CPU, one is your original one (SEA) and the other is the TW/KR one each with their own shortcuts and installation directories.
If you did not follow the instructions you probably would have to reinstall your games, or mess around with the relocaliser (since your sc2 is likely to be corrupt already anyway as you installed it in the same directory)
Can i install my english one via the disc but make that a different directory? I'm just gonna keep laddering on Korea for now but just in due time when i want to play on the sea server again, i wanna know exactly what i should do. Don't wanna spend so much time looking blankly at things.
Just posting to say that I received the activation code minutes after paying and I was able to add it to my b.net account without problems. Thanks so much!
Hello, thank you very much for the guide! I have been looking to play on the Korean servers but have been holding off because I heard it was a hassle. Your guide seems to have solved that problem. Just bought the TW sc2, excitedly waiting for key.
c_los your key has been sent! Yea I believe we are the only site where you can skip the whole "mypoints" ordeal and just activate your game code instantly. Why? Because we get it directly from the official distributor.
Q: I'm new to the site and can't read my PMs, how do I receive the code? Do I have to wait a week?
Absolutely not! Even though you are new to our site and don't have access to send PMs, you will still be able to read any PMs you get. In addition you will be notified of the message through your email. So not to worry, you will get your code quickly within one day.
Just set up my TW account on my b.net account and it was 100 times easier than this. It might need testing but I logged in under battle.net (as I am in north america) went to "Games and Codes" -> Add to Upgrade Game -> dropped in the key and it popped up.
Region is TW, game time is unlimited so it worked it seemed.
Oh so basically you took the code from our shop and it can be activated through the US region site as well? That would make it exactly the same as the instructions but that means you can also log in through any regional site to apply it, not just the TW region one so its slightly easier haha.

Thanks for the heads up nerfalisk!
Yep! Did it through the NA b.net site for my EU account as well and it went through seamlessly, hoped it would work for this one as well and it did so I am very happy!
Thanks again for offering us the keys so we can play against some of the best in the world!
Hey, I've downloaded the client and tried to login using TW starter edition. When I open the program and login using my username and password and click "login" or whaterver it says in chinese. It doesn't move on, it just shows that planet and the BC floating by. Anyone know what's wrong?
When I try to connect using my EU client it works fine.
Hi, I just purchased an account and I'm still waiting for a PM. It seems everybody in this post has gotten theirs right away but I'm going to be coming up to 2 hours and still haven't receieved mine, as far as I know.
I guess I'm just getting worried. Should I just wait it out and hope?
it is essentially a taiwan account with korean server access so i believe you have to go through the TW client. Well actually no one has ever tried lol, if anyone knows let us know too!
hey nirvana~ just want to give you props for this guide it helped me through so much!
i just got my game and am currently playin in the placement rounds!~ though its a little laggy...T_T and sometimes it will spike a bit but i think that is my internet connection by any chance would there be a program or something i can do to focus all my bandwidth or something towards the game to reduce the lags and spikes? just wondering if not ill just learn to deal with it haha~
but thanks heaps
hey Zula, i'm afraid i do not know. i know there are a ton of options for WoW that help reduce latency for e.g http://www.wowtunnels.com/ which also helps reduce sc2 lag. however, i have NOT tried any of these services and therefore can't comment further. they normally have subscription fees of a few dollars a month so IMO it is better to switch to a ISP with better connection to KR, perhaps call up customer support and ask them what their ping is to the kr server (same method as specified in the guide instructions), imo a longer but a guaranteed way to have a better long-term gaming experience.
Thanks so much! You've already helped me in getting the KR version and I'm already really thankful for that! I'll give each option a try hopefully things will work out~
thanks
Hi, i have just made payment. How long will i need to wait for my private key code to arrive? It shows that on my paypal account transactions has been succesfull.
However I have a question I have been apart of this site for over 1 week however I am not big on posting on threads or making threads. I purchased SC2 tw/kr game from your sc2sea shop however I cannot even access my Personal messages so how am I meant to get my code?
Any suggestions on what I should do? Will this effect the code if they try to send it to me or anything?

Nirvana, I got your pm about the store being out of keys. Being that I am a new member and can't respond to your pm, I'm just letting you know I am fine with waiting for the keys to come in. Just send me another pm whenever they are available, hopefully soon. Thanks.
Guys please read the OP, this question has been answered in the thread at least 5 times already, and is stated in the FAQ as well! And Myst your key has just been sent

also, do you have a starter edition? that might be causing it to display wrongly and it may be actually saying "do you want to upgrade your starter edition to the retail version of TW? ". That would make perfect sense.

it work perfectly !!, just kick in some game and very enjoy
something about tracert for me is so strange becuase i got like 300-500 ms, but when i try to play in kr server i feel like play with 150ms or something it not that much delay man very appriciate it
Hello, 1st of all wanted to say ty for the guide.
Now the question: i've tested my ping to the kr/sea servers and it was arround 300 ms, can any1 tell me how much would that be ingame ? Friend told me about 0,5 secs delay, can any1 confirm this?
Ty in advance
Ping test is not entirely accurate, and it also depends on your aversion to lag.
For the best assessment i recommend downloading the starter edition on TW and testing out the lag yourself. If you find it playable you can then purchase a key from our store to upgrade your starter account.

Sorry for the double post but i'm noticing I have a FREE NAME CHANGE. Not going to use it now but will in a couple of years when i'm IM_Bottles or SlayerS_Bottles. you know it!
Hey, the patch screen converts to the english patch server for whatever reason. I'm not sure if i should go through with the patch or not. Figured if I post here someone might give me the go ahead. Any problem?
Yea patch notes may appear in English which actually is good! Won't be a problem if you installed in separate folders as mentioned in the guide so don't worry!
I'm a new user to this site, but I'm very great-full for this guide, I'm patching the KR/TW account now, and am so happy to say that this was the cheapest, fastest, and most efficient way that I could find to do this. I've always wanted to play on the KR/TW server, and finally now, I get the chance to do so. Thank you, so very much!
I have an old battle.net account with WoW currently on it (inactive) that I wanted to use for this so I could share the account with friends or other people without compromising my main account. Would this work or would it prompt for for the "Taiwan ID" im reading about?
I really rather not have two SC2 accounts on one battle.net

How come this is supposed to be a korean account but I can't use the korean Client? I've got the TW client which works but when I try to use the korean client it won't let me log on. I thought the accounts were on the same server?
They are on the same server because the Taiwan server merged with the Korean one. But they are still subject to the laws according to their country so for e.g in Korea you need a korean social security number to play all online games.
And to avoid using an illegal fakeSSN people play with the TW client which is really the exact same thing except for the client. I believe if you want to the kr client interface so bad you can always use a relocaliser but thats a grey area so not something i recommend.
My account is sill shown as a 7 hour trial with the supposed real CD-key sent to me
I recently bought a TW account with papal over your site, and was went free trial accounts due to their providers not answering calls. I got sent my CD-key two days later, with multiple trial accounts as reimbursement. When I entered the real cd-key into my TW account, it still said 7hour free trial pass, Since I cannot sent private messages yet(o_0), I was wondering if there is any way I can gain some clarity on this. THank you in advanced.
Apologies its the first time we were out of stock for 1 day, this will probably not happen again I will make sure we are very well stocked in the future.
Please go to https://us.battle.net/account/management/add-game.html and put the code i gave you in. It will convert your guest pass into a full account. Make sure you log in with the same account that you used your guest pass. I gave you three codes, 1 full retail code and 2 complimentary guest pass codes, make sure you are using the RETAIL code (The first code at the top of the message) and not the guest passes.
Thank you, man. Worked like a charm. I've been enjoying this server for a few days. Latency aint that bad. Got used to it already. I'm from the us btw.
Fantastic. Got my key within a day, am getting excited now ^__^
Will post again when I finally get on. Why does the website have to be under maintenance just when i get my key :S
yeap whenever you make a new install, it starts at patch 0 so it has to download all the patches one by one. its normal and happens for every installation client.
Hi im new here but anyway... question coz I recently just bought a taiwan starcraft 2 from taiwan.. so can I use the same steps you said in your post but using the cd key provided in the box? Thanks and sorry if my questions is quite newbie lol
At what Korean times does the servers seem to be the least laggy? I'm playing from EU, and the lag from here is a bit of an issue, but i've been told that at good times it's just fine.
Superb guide by the way, followed the steps and it worked like a charm!
Skurpe I'm not sure about European timings but generally the time where its faster in most places of the world is during off-peak hours where your ISP gives you better speeds because theres less traffic demand from everyone.
I can't confirm but i don't think it has anything to do with korea, probably check with fellow swedish players what ISP they are using etc, there were quite a few who purchased them from here
This might work. Or else you could just copy over all the korean sounds or something, i think some people have done that
Oh okay.
So this could change my KR client to connect to the TW logon server instead of the KR logon server for my TW account?
Anyway, we'll see. Downloading the KR client atm. I haven't downloaded the TW client either.
By the way SC2 in TW (as well as NA and other places I assume) provides 'Starter' accounts so people can check out what its like on the TW/KR ladder before they buy a copy.
I also think your site should be a bit more clear that you're buying a TW (not KR) account, and playing the TW version of SC2, it just merely has the same ladder as KR.
But other than that, superb service and job you guys have done
Yo, I'd really like to get a KR account to ladder on but I have a Q real fast before I decide to buy. My ping to tracert sea.battle.net is atrocious. However, my ping to the korean server -- tracert kr.logon.battle.net -- is quite acceptable.
Will I be stuck with the same ms found w/ the sea.battle.net tracert if I buy a cd key here? Or can i play with the one to the kr.logon ?? thankss!~
Sweet! Installed perfectly (actually better than my SEA account which crashed on installing patches a couple of times). Now have to work up the courage to play placements! I will be recording my placements with fraps and uploading them to youtube
By the way, I read somewhere here that there was a chat room for SEA players on the korean server but I can't seem to find where it is, what is the chat room?
I just bought mine. Looking forward to playing. And although it's not a big issue I wish I could choose to have the client display in Hangul. Atleast then I'd eventually be able to read things when I know enough Korean.
I have this message during installation:
I don't know what it says and I'm not sure which one to hit. I don't want to **** up my other install, is anyone familiar with this message and/or can translate it?
taiwanese chinese is slightly different from singapore chinese but from what i can see its either
1) file directory being occupied, make sure u specified a different folder for installation of your sc2 than your original version, e.g d:\starcarft2 tw\
2) visit the battle.net site to read more about sc2
as long as you installed in a different directory you have nothing to worry about messing up your install.
Shellshock your payment was made at midnight when our office was closed. Thats why we say the time varies, because basically if its during working hours your key gets sent right away but if its during midnight it will get sent as soon as we open. Now that you entered a "paypal dispute" we can't give you the key until you close it, so please do so and we will send it right away. Arterial and the other orders last night please double check your email / inbox as your key was sent to you already. As you can see from over 100 comments here, no one is getting ripped off, just have a little patience
Update: Shellshock has closed the dispute and his key has been sent.
I have my own account installed in a mac but recently got pc and installed na and la version and wanted to instal the tw version and couldnt. The installation process is blocked at 16 and it never goes past that number any suggestions??
I am very satisfied customer. I received key bofore I downloaded TW client. I started finally playing Korean ladder and I am in Silver league (Plat on EU, Diamond on NA) xD
Got my key within the hour :] I am a bit surprised, because if I'm not mistaken it's pretty late in the evening over in your guys' time zone. Already got my first ladder game in, too; everything works fine.
Also, if you bind the TW client to your main account, your custom hotkey setup follows you there. Much gnashing of teeth and lamentations have been avoided...
Not to worry, thats totally normal. I believe the installer reads from your cookies stored from your browser from the NA/EU site you normally go to which is in english, and hence you see the latest battle.net news/patch notes in english too! After the patch notes the actual game will be in Taiwanese, unless you use a relocaliser.
Problem appears. When patcher gets to 25% its says "Finished" then there is nothing else to do than press play, but when i press it it gives me an error report.
I tried purchasing through paypal today but they would not allow my credit card to go through! and even stranger, they didnt give a reason. Only to say that it was not going to work, Im canadian is there any issues there?
Would like to help but theres nothing we can do on our end as paypal is the payment processor and they control the whole payment process. They dont seem to be accepting your card so you might have to configure the settings on your paypal account or manually add a debit/credit card to your paypal account first. As far as i know many Canadians have purchased from the store without issue so i'm sure you'll figure it out, being from Canada is not an issue. If you still cant i recommend sending paypal support an email, they usually reply really fast too and accurately. Hope that helps.
I am about to buy this, but I have one question. I just moved to Korea to teach English. I was wondering if I could log into my account through a Korean client? Just in case I want to go to a PC Bang and play.
halofreak your key has been sent, check your email.
Unfortunately Ares_Stark one of the limitations of the TW client is that you need to log in with the TW client and will be unable to use the Kr Client to log in.
so correct me if i am wrong, but it says to activate your TW client. however the server that i would like to play on is the korean server itself not the Taiwan one. so what is the deal with that, is there anything that is different if i want to play on the koeran one. one more question, how do i switch regions between NA and KR. so if i am playing NA and i want to start playing KR what would i do. how do i accomplish that?
1. The Taiwan and Korean servers have been merged. When you log in to the Taiwan server, you have complete access to the Korean one, so its basically the same as a Korean account apart from the client.
2. You need to download the TW client and install it in a different directory. All the popular questions are answered in the FAQ/guide btw!
I recommend reading them so you don't have to wait for my reply
Adding some testimonials which users have sent me through PMs. Appreciate it guys but please post in this thread instead so others can know about it too

how do i switch back to NA after playing on TW i open starcraft from the original folder and it just loads up the TW again do i have to use the blizzard relocolizer (seems like it takes hr+ )
Make sure you have installed the clients in 2 separate folders as instructed in the guide. If you didn't you have to reinstall because that would mean your installation overwrote your current installation and messed it up.
If you did follow the guide, you should see 2 different shortcuts on your desktop. If one of the shortcuts are not appearing, go to the respective folder and make a shortcut.
You MIGHT be able to use a recoliser to fix things faster but thats a temp "band-aid" thing because relocalisers are notorious for having issues especially when new patches are released. Having 2 perfectly working clients installed in separate directories means no problems ever again in the future.
I ordered it, and It came in about an hour, entirely worth it and awesome! I was very pleased when it came in the messages. I would say its a very good idea to download the client in advance, and to follow the instructions very closely because the client makes no sense to someone like me who speaks only English.
Wow! This is Great. Bought yesterday, got Activation Code in like 10 minutes. Downloading client took some time, but was expected. Then followed the step by step directions. Now I am playing on the TW/KR server! Playing from Pittsburgh, Pa. with no lag at all! GREAT WORK GUYS!!!!!!!!!

Directions were perfect. Super easy process. Nirvana is helpful and friendly. I completely recommend this service to anyone looking for a TW/KR server account!
I have to admin, I was confident I would get my code but being as I placed my order on Saturday, I didn't expect to get it until next week. I got it within a matter of hours Saturday!!!! The guide was flawless, worked perfectly, and I'm now all set to start doing my placement matches. This is truly a great guide and service to the SC2 community, worth every penny.
Also, I downloaded the client and connected to starter edition, did a 2v2 practice match and from Washington DC have no lag on the TW/KR server.
I was a little hesistant and skeptic but I decided what the hell and ordered figuring I would be that unlucky guy who waits 4 weeks or something for my code only for it to not work or something,,
But sure enough LESS THAN 30 MINUTES later, BAM pm'd the code and it works perfectly, thank you very much
haha no one has ever waited 4 weeks! the longest "wait" was 2 days when we were hit by a wave of orders 2 months ago and the keys ran out of stock and they were compensated with many free guest passes to use in the mean time And that only ever happened once!
Got my code within the hour!
Took a little bit of guessing due to having a mac :P
However, I got it all up and running... and was placed into gold ㅡ.ㅡ
Anyway, will definitely ladder more to get to masters!!!
Great purchase, highly recommended I also plan to do some sort of write up about my games on KR at some points, so look out for that
Bought an account earlier today, code had arrived within 15 minutes, already had the client so i was laddering straight away.
Really good service, GLHF all =)
Randomly decided to buy a key at 4am in the morning and received my key within about 5 minutes. The guide here made everything really simple and now I'm about to go get raped by a bunch of koreans
Came across the site while doing random google search and decided to try a Tai account ( Against my better judgement). The price is reasonable but still a good chunk of change, that I imagine may stop some some people. Don't worry though, I am here to tell you its worth it, if you want to play on Korean ladder that is. Nirvana sent me my code is about 7 hours, which was before the game client was even done downloading. The Tutorial doesn't leave anything out, it literally is just like the pictures, easy. AS FOR THE LAG: that was my main concern, was that I was gonna connect to Korea and have like a 500+ ping and have wasted $60+ on a game I cant play. Well that was not the case. My ping is less than 200 ( From California, USA) http://www.speedtest.net/result/1706452477.png That's my speed test to Seoul, I recommend trying that if your concerned about lag. AS FOR THE LADDER: It's very hard. On NA I am Gold/Plat, on Korean server I am being beat my Bronze and silver, and they are not all inning me or cheesing, so it really is a great place to practice. And whats more the majority don't speak English or don't have English keyboard, so there really isn't much Petty BM, which personally I find very tiring. Over all very pleased. Going to get some coaching from one of the Terran coaches on here and ladder up so I can go crush it on NA ^_^ Thanks Nirvana
Is there any way i can get a starter edition key or something to try if it lags? because i had some problems playing with my friends NA account (Im from europe) .
So the only way you can pay is through paypal? It says It would take 3-5 days to process the transfer from my bank account to paypal, so would I not receive the code until the payment is cleared in the next 3-5 days?

If you link your paypal to your bank account it should automatically pull funds from your bank account when there's not enough funds in the paypal balance. That's what I normally do, since I don't want to wait 3-5 days for it to process.

I got my TW code within 2 hours, activated it and downloading the TW client, did not even take 1 working day
Very quick service, and its even less expensive than buying a new SEA account than Blizzard, simply lovely
just finished downloading and installing the korean client. your instructions helped greatly. it works perfectly. just a note, when you click on where the "multiplayer" tab would be at the top, you're presented with two options. I believe this is for the 50 "practice league" matches. The left option is to accept the 50 practice league matches and the right is to decline. I'm not certain but I believe that's what that prompt is.
But again, this was excellent and I would recommend you to anyone who's interested in getting an account on the korean server.
I am from Edmonton,AB,Canada.
I already have a us starcraft2, and I am in platum league.
I just bought a tw starcraft2 from here and It went perfectly.
Thank you.
At this point of time I can't guarantee 100% that SC2SEA will be supplying SC2 HOTS digital licenses as well but theres a very very high chance of that happening. We will know more as the HOTS release date gets nearer.
But you will definitely be able to upgrade your SC2 account (perhaps other suppliers if not us) as your account functions just like a normal SC2 account, it doesn't matter if you buy it from Walmart or Harvery Norman - it works just the same and can be upgraded.
^ I have read and followed all instructions but i can't read Tawinese, but this came up when i am in the game, I can't seem to connect i think can anybody help? Or shed some light on it.

thanks for answering so fast.
i paid w/ a registered credit card on paypal in the afternoon from usa. received receipt a minute later. received a pm w/ my activation code a few minutes later. still waiting for client to finish. very fast service.

Much appreciated Laughing Man
It just means Blizzard can't detect your internet connection. Probably allow firewall exceptions for the .exe file and try again, it should work
Edit: its actually because the KR server is down now for maintenance LOL! You can check the status here.
Bought the game earlier today, within minutes (less than 5) received a reply with my key
Easy to setup/install just follow instructions closely.
Just waiting on patches now
i kustgot my sc2 tw/kr and im loving it and i have sc2sea to thank im so happy you guysare doing this and im so excited to play ill be alt 3in my heart out for you guys on the tw/kr server glhf gg and have fun playing on kr(seriously buy an account)
I bought the game then went straight away to download it. Took a few hrs to download 4hrs total and installed it. By the time it was finished I had my game key send to me. I added it to my account and started playing the SAME DAY, which was today!!! Thank you so much!!! Everyone should go this way if they want to get a TW SC2 account fast and easy.
That was really fast actually, i just decided to buy the code, and go and download the tw client, as soon as i was downloading it, i already received my code! thanks dude!
when trying to install i pressed all the right buttons and renamed the folder, then when I hit confirm it goes unresponsive. tried some basic things like restarting and running the application on admin, neither did anything.
What do you mean by unresponsive, it just hangs at 0% before anything comes up? Where exactly does it hang? Is there any error msg displayed? Have not encountered anyone with this problem before! U can also try updating your gfx drivers first

i press confirm and it immediately is "not responding". it doesn't load at all. the sound keeps playing but nothing happens, and if i close the window i cant even open it again. i checked, the disc isnt in, and my drivers are up to date
edit: no error message no nothing

I would suggest to first redownload the client from this link, it appears your installar got corrupted and is not functioning properly. If you're using windows dl the win version, otherwise mac.
If that still doesn't work, it is likely to be an error specific to your machine. Send a ticket in to blizzard via this link, they will probably ask you to run a systems diagnostic test to pin point what is causing this issue and they will be able to solve your problem.

hello i am thinking about purchasing a korean sc2 account but i have no na or sea account on it so i have a fresh and new account. on the tutorial it said it would be very hard and didn't know what that meant so could you clarify on that please
it wasn't that, but i got it working...lol i just kept trying then left came back and after not responding for about half an hour it just randomly started responding again and worked... stupid but w/e
is there any way for me to get a korean name on this account? i know korean and i tried typing it in directly and that didn't work, neither did pasting..is it possible?

A way around this is to create a new battle.net account through us.battle.net and then just apply the code you get sent.
I would recommend you to get the SEA version if its your very first time playing starcraft 2 so u can read and understand the units and how to play the game. Unless u can read traditional Chinese which is what the Taiwan server uses. Singaporeans use simplified Chinese which is written quite different!
Just bought the full game after playing a few hours using the guest pass. I received the PM about 5 minutes after I paid for it.
I was impressed by how fast did the PM came. Keep up the good work nirvana!
For those of you who are still considering about purchasing this, do it now. 64USD was worth it and playing in another server is a good experience imo.
I just wrote back to the person who sent me my code however I have had some very bad luck I was given a bad code ><. I get this error on the blizzard website "An error has occurred.
The game key you entered has already been claimed.
Each game key can only be redeemed once. If you’re sure you have not previously claimed this key, please double-check the spelling and enter it now.
For more information on game keys, please visit our Support Site."
Hey WPWP.Fitz, I apologize, it was my mistake, I copied the code wrongly so there were two of you who got the same code and hence "it was already claimed". (First time i made this mistake!)
Sorry for the trouble. I have sent you your new code. Please confirm if you have received it and if its working.
Thanks!
hey im a new member to the forum , ive been searching for places to buy a korean starcraft id so i can play in the korean ladder. im just wondering if it will be possible with such a great distance between korea and england. so im just wondering were i can check the ping and what amount of ping wll make the game unplayable. thanks alot.

It doesn't matter which directory you are in, just type in "tracert sea.battle.net" to find out your current ping to the SEA server. To make comparisons with the Korean and NA servers type "tracert kr.logon.battle.net" and "tracert us.battle.net" respectively. The simple way of interpreting tracert results is to look at the last few hops and compare them to the other servers. Generally anything under 250ms is playable but it also depends on your tolerance to lag. As a guideline you would want a relatively similar ping values from SEA/KR (so latency is similar as well) and to not exceed 300ms. But hey if you built up your lag tolerance and are used to playing at 300ms on SEA and get a similar result on KR it just means that you will be playing with the same level of latency there.
A cute story to share is nGenMaFia laddered on SEA with a 350ms latency for the whole of last year. This is why his LAN tournament results (where uses a better ISP) are so much better than his online tournament results! Lag is an important factor for any competitive game
It amazes me at how many people don't read at all...
Haha with the persistant reminder from NirvAnA I am here to talk about my experience. I bought through PayPal and I received my code in my email around 12 or so hours later. I then proceeded to try to add the code in Battle.Net. However, the code was apparently activated so I PMed him and he quickly maybe 6 to 12 hours I do not know exactly gave me a new code and now it works.
The community is great here and they will get you a copy of a taiwainese verson to play on the korean server!
I bought the game refreshed the page and bang , my key was there.
Btw just in case any of you guys play from Europe like me, you can add the TW/KR key at the EU Webpage too!
This guide was incredibly helpful. I think it is important to note though, that your original StarCraft II Disc CANNOT be in the drive when you install the TW client as it stalls the install at 1%. Otherwise, this guide, and the sale of the client on sc2sea.com is incredible and well executed. It is definitely worth the buy!
Did the transfer earlier today, and got my korea/taiwan account really fast!
My only problem is that blizzard downloader can't download "SC2-WingsOfLiberty-zhTW-Installer"
I get the message "The tracker is not responding." TT
If you run the .exe and there is still no response it means the Blizzard server is down, but that is very rare so just try again later.
Exogenesis: Australians usually have no issues with the latency, and its similar to what they get on SEA. I've sent you a free guest pass so you can test this for yourself just to be sure. Check your privaite message in your inbox!

Did try to download Warcraft 3, no problems!
Did even try "Full Game Client* Southeast Asia & ANZ / English (SG)"
and it workst at first try.
Seems like a Internet settings issue. Here are the common solutions for it.
Try this
Solution 1:
Go to the Control Panel and open up Internet Options.
Click on the Connections tab.
Click the button called "LAN Settings"
Uncheck all of the options on that screen.
Then try again.
If that does not work, go back in and check the box to "Automatically Detect Settings" and test once more.
Solution 2:
When you're in IE making sure you're not in a proxy, etc. etc., make sure you're cookie settings are set to at least medium.
Solution 3:
1. Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus\firewall, as simply allowing the downloader sometimes doesn't cut it.
2. Make sure you're running the download as an Administrator.
Look over your firewall and security software to be sure they're allowing the Downloader access to the Internet. What types of security software do you have?

Thanks for this Nirv Note that you should probably add:
If you have the Starcraft 2 DVD with the SEA / NA version on it, the TW client will NOT INSTALL. Took me ages to figure it out, I had the DVD in there so I could see the install options in English and make sure I hit the right buttons. Left the DVD in the drive and just scratched my head for hours over why the TW client wasn't installing past %1 completion.
DAMN I SHOULD HAVE READ THIS BEFORE I WAS INSTALLING...
I had the same problem and figured out the problem 2 weeks later -,-
Heey awesome man thanks for the help. Just going to request a guest pass to see how the lag feels like and then decide if im going to buy a client. Already have the kr one installed.
Thanks!!
Edit: nvm i found out.

though paypal held my payment for what seemed like for ever this site did a great job and it works amazing for me almost no lag or anything well worth it
There are two buttons have you tried clicking on both? It appears to be the message saying that its going to override the document folder where replays are saved (which is ok)
Yeap to be more specific, its talking about your documents folder where replays are auto saved. Because your accounts have unique numbers, they each get saved to their own folder so nothing gets overwritten. Just make sure you chose a new folder for your installation of game files as mentioned in the earlier part of the guide
Hi the TW Client connects to the Korean server. Although you are using the TW client interface, you are playing on the Korean server because these servers have merged and now share the same players, ladders, and everything. Guys please read the OP!!
This was the most stress free purchase I have ever made. I got my key within an hour or less. Downloading the client now. Paying with paypal was good. All thumbs up Here. Now its just time to get dominated by Koreans.
Help! I installed sc2 kr/tw to test it out and now all the replays that I click off-game launches the kr/tw account instead of the sea one. how do I remap it so that the sea account launches instead? (
I have around 265ping on KR and 130 on SEA... The horrid 270 on NA :C - What?
How do I get similar ping on korea (kr.logon.battle.net) to NA? (us.battle.net).
Weird.
Is there a way to reduce my ping? Or is it only if I change my provider?
right click on a replay > open with > tick always use this program to open > navigate to the SEA .exe for starcraft 2
Sadly this doesn't work.. I've installed both of my Sc2 in drive C, I Just put the TW version under a folder named "Starcraft 2 TW"...is this an issue?
i got threw the installer part, but when it got too showing the patches and stuff it was still in TW and then it switched too english for some reason im not sure if it will still come out with a tw client then?
pedsky: im not sure why thats happening, that would be a windows issue i believe!! cant help u further
sublime: not to worry, it gets the battle.net news reads based on Internet cookies of the battle.net portal you visit, so its likely to display in english. if you installed it right the client will be in chinese.
So (sorry I'm probably the last person to get this) I've bought and installed the client and patchet it and all now all I have to do is log on and I'm playing on the Taiwanese server which is shared with the Koreans?
Just a follow up post, I've been playing on Tw/Kr for almost a week now and I love it!
Zero issues with the code or the download and it's excellent for training! Nothing but quality from the sc2 sea team keep up the good work guys!
Do u guys still have free guest passes? because for some reason i cant fill up the formula it says i have no Permission or so. I would really appreciate it too test it first before i buy one i live in Germany so i dont know what my latency will be there

I bought a KR key from the store, and it works exactly as described! Planning on buying a EU account soon thanks much! Would recommend this website to anyone I know!
Thank you so much for this guide, I plan on purchasing soon.
And just to clarify, can the Korean client be used with the account key purchased here? Because I would far prefer to use the Korean client as I am avidly studying the Korean language.
hey tycoon, unfortunately not you have to use the tw client. an alternative to get korean sounds is to use the relocaliser that we recommended in the OP, that might work.
Since im a new member and wont be able to read my PMs or thats what i understood from reading some posts. to what email will the code be mailed to? my paypal mail or the mail i used to register sc2sea on?
If i understood correct i will be able to read the PM in the email?
It will be sent to both your sc2sea inbox and your email address linked to your account, both of which you can read. In your case it has being sent already. Thank you for your kind words and enjoy!
Wow that was so easy! Purchasing a Korean server account was so easy from this website. I didn't expect to receive my activation code so quickly but I got it around the time my download was done for the KR/TW client. I'm really happy that i chose this site!
Purchase was easy and took no time at all too receive my key, easy process and would recommend to anyone who is looking to start playing the KR server!
Added this to the OP. For some reason lately theres been
1. A bunch of people buying from other sites then coming here for support (lol)
2. People making new threads to ask simple questions covered in the guide already
3. Stuff which they could have asked through the chatbox / PM.
Need Customer Support? Please PM me
(I get notified faster too. Please do NOT make a new thread, if i'm not online at that moment ask in the chatbox or post here and someone will reply.
We strictly DO NOT provide support for accounts purchased ELSEWHERE, as other sites can have very complicated steps especially with the mypoints method.
Please check with the support staff from those respective sites and if they do not reply please do not ask us for help, we only provide support to our customers.)
Well, for once i didn't need to wait for 9000 days for something i've purchased online. I got my activation code on the same day, sick speed, if nirvana didn't play protoss i'd really love him.
Nope this is for the TW client. The KR client has the need for SSID, which is the whole point why we wanna avoid it with this method, and yet play on the same server.
First post here on SC2SEA, paid for the taiwan account and had the code in my inbox before i could even finish downloading the client, very happy, thank you SC2SEA!
I was kinda wondering if i should go for this at first and if it was thrustworthy after i read about all the comments, i could see that this was a very friendly and helpfull people i was dealing with here.. so i bought the TW/KR account, and im downloading client right this moment, and i also got a really fast reply from them. +10 points from me.
I am SO happy to see this.... I have some questions though.
1. The lag. Just how bad is it? If it is not much....then I dont mind. Right now I have ok broadband anyway and I play in SEA server with lag.... lol
2. I just did some research. They say that if you want to play in Korean server, you need some kind of Korean SSN (Citizenship number) or something like that. How come with this tutorial, you dont need to? But this method is legal, correct?
1) Do the ping test! Compare it with your ping to SEA. If you really want to be sure just PM me and I will send you a guest pass so you can test it out
2) This is because its actually for the Taiwan server. BUT because the Taiwan server has merged with the KR server they share the same player pool / ladders / channels etc. So basically Taiwan server = Korean server but without the need for a korean SSN.
I've put a darker blue square around the numbers of concern. ms means millisecond so you can see that Nirvana here has roughly a 220ms ping which is to say just over 1/5th of a second.
Obviously the lower the number the better your latency. In short the lower the number the better. You probably don't want to be playing with 300ms or more.
You will notice in the latter rows the ms starts to level out... less change... that's why I chose those numbers. Whereas the first several rows you will notice significant difference between ms.
Doesn't really matter though... if you take the 13th or latter row you'll probably have your answer
Thanks for the key! Got it within 30 minutes! I'm definitely recommending this method to others. I tried purchasing with the other MyCard method via Paypal, even was on the phone with them and with PayPal and they couldn't make it work
1. am I going to be buying from sc2sea's own website store?
2. Once HoTS comes out....will you guys make it so we, SEA players, can play Korea too? Or maybe I am thinking too far? :P
3. Sorry if I have asked this previously, but, basically the taiwan and korean servers have now merged, so being able to play in Korea server is now available to everyone, right? Which means if I buy a Korean version of SC2 I can play? Just asking, my plan is to buy from this site.

1. Yes
2. Maybe (Nirvana will know for sure) but I expect so.
3. A TW account is the same as a KR (for all intents and purposes) so having a license for the TW account will allow you to play with people who have a KR account and vice versa. However the TW/KR version is completely separate from the SEA, NA, EU, etc... versions all of which will require a separate purchase of HotS to play. TLR you have to purchase the expansion for each server you play on.
Wow.....if KR and TW are merged, the Taiwanese people must be really good then!
I am surprised actually, in a good way :P Everybody knows koreans are so good, but since they share the same ladder as Taiwans, the Taiwanese must be really good too!
OK, practicing more to get good and buy the KR account from here
I've got a few problems.... please forgive me if theyre in the FAQ or something x.x
1. I entered the code given to me and on the website, it says i have the full TW account. Whenever i try to log in to the TW server, however, it just starts up a free trial. I am using a relocalizer, perhaps that is what is causing the problem?
2. Not that important, but im missing a lot of chinese characters on a lot of buttons, is this a known problem and is there any way to fix it?
Use a relocaliser mentioned in the OP that changes the client language to english. Support for that is not offered though but that would be a step in the right direction.
I am half way through updating my Taiwanese client and have come across a message all in chinese (except I can see "15-60") with 2 buttons at the bottom. (Yes and cancels is my guess)
I suspect it might be saying something like do you want to install in a different directory, or I could be way off. Either way I dunno which button to press lol.)
I get the same window, but neither button does anything useful. One button makes the window go away, the other pops up another window that says something else, with only one button, which then goes away if I click it, and it won't continue patching.
More or less says "this is going to take a long time (15-60 mins), once it starts don't cancel it". Left button to continue, right button to close.
If you get another window with only one button after it's probably the one which says not enough free disk space; you need ~8/9 GB free for it to install the patch (just for the optimising process, you get it back afterward).
The renowned R1ch from teamliquid has created a simple app that automates some of the manual renaming of variables.txt files issue caused by patch 1.5. This application allows you to switch between clients easily and also allows you to use Korean sounds on your client. You can download it from the TL link here.

i still getting the same error with every region switcher program i get trying to switch to TW, it says i cannot connect to patch server, even though my sc2 is up to date.
Code:
localeidassets=zhTW
localeiddata=zhTW
Alternatively instead of putting "zhTW" put "????" and it will automatically detect which client u are using and use the appropriate language pack, really useful if u are using 2 clients so you don't have to keep switching.
This is not common but for those of you who see this particular error message.
The official custom support has been unable to help so far but here is a work around method.
Work around method
(This assumes your current SC2 NA/SEA/EU client works perfectly.)
Step 1: Copy your whole working SC2 directory somewhere else, so you always have the original as a back up that works perfectly.
Step 2: With the new directory you created, try using the relocaliser here and applying the relocaiser to it
For creating such an esay to follow guide that walks you through EVERY step of the process.
For Selling the product.
And
For the awesome support you showed through the buying process.
I wouldn't have ever imagined buying and installing could this this easy.
Problem:
"Every time I play a game on SEA/NA now the game just drops as soon as I finish loading and says tie. I can play games on KR perfectly but yeah not SEA/NA, do you have any ideas for solutions?"
I can also make a custom game with just me in it and play it on SEA/NA but nobody else otherwise it just drops.
Solution:
Turns out it was a problem with the r1ch relocaliser. for reference if anyone asks here's the solution
For some reason Blizzard decided to redirect you to the KR client download after activating the key. You should not download the KR client but the TW client instead.
Hi, so I´ve bought one of these accounts a lot of months ago, and now i want to play on the ladder to get my mmr higher for next season but everytime i search for a match when its loading it automaticly quits the match and its a tie for me , now i have like 6 ties in a row but I wasnt able to play...
Anyone knows how to fix this? It only happens with my KR/TW account.

have you used rich's region switcher? if so refer to that thread on teamliquid theres a fix found there
NEED HELP PLEASE. im having trouble installing the tw client. This is what happens. When i click the setup file for the tw version it doesn't say install or anything but the play button comes. When i click this play button, the game starts loading and it leads to my current version of starcraft which is sea. So how do i get past this? so that i can install the tw version.
Its likely you forgot to specify a new folder during the TW install and ended up installing it over your SEA client. I would recommend un-installing and reinstalling both clients again.
If you still have issues add me on skype i'll walk you through it.
From EU am i supposed to have like a 1 second delay on TW/KR server?
I have fiber optic internet and its realy fast.. All other server doesn't lag for me but korea i get this 1 second delay.. Can i fix it somehow? Im willing to try out theese proxy application u pay for per month to make it work.. Just give me some advice.
it says "there is an error reading a required file. please close all other programs and deactivate your antivirus and try again."
The cause is unknown and it affects only a minority of computers. Thankfully, the English equivalent and various solutions can be found in this thread. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6607191971
1. Close any Blizzard programs (Agent, game launcher, and game installer).
2. Configure Windows to Show Hidden Files and Folders.
3. Navigate to the folder containing the cache directory:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
Windows Vista/7: C:\ProgramData\
4. If a Battle.net folder exists in the directory, right-click it and choose Delete.
5. If a Blizzard Entertainment folder exists in the directory, right-click it and choose Delete.
6. Relaunch the game using its normal shortcut or launcher.
Thanks for the fast reply, but it still isnt working. For my TW client I now get an error that says the same thing as the picture posted previously, and for my NA client I now get something along the line of "An internal error occured. please restart", which I looked up on battle.net on how to resolve it, which I attempted to do but the problem still remains the same.
And trying the various solutions one by one, as these are people who had the same problem as you and managed to solve them. One of them definitely will be the solution to your problem. You should be able to resolve your NA issue too after the launcher starts downloading stuff once you delete certain files. Let me know how it goes.
Hey nirvAnA I have been getting this error since the 1.5.0 patch and I just gave up until now. I've tried clean installing the client without SEA/NA on my computer. I've tried redownloading the client. The version I have now is a friends folder I copied over so I had up to patch 1.5.3. I've tried changing the variables.txt, I've tried deleting the cache as well.
Some guys who could read a little chinese said that the error said something about a network connection error?
The error message is "failure to download patch and asks you to check your internet connection".
This usually happens when you have not granted the program access through your firewall. When patches are, a pop up appears and you usually have to tick off the boxes and you may have missed this step. If you did, you usually end up getting that error.
"allow this program to connect from your home network (private)"
"allow this program to connect from your work and other networks (public)"
To manually activate the program through your firewall, go here.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall and click "Allow a program or feature through windows firewall"
And click the home/work (private) for everything that looks like SC2 / battle.net and "allow another program" and point to your TW client.
I've allowed, didn't work. I turned off my firewall (well it was off the first time) and that didn't work. I also disabled my antivirus and it still didn't work. Same error still :S
This is really strange but as its not a Taiwan account registration error but an error with the Starcraft 2 client and your computer, so you should submit a Blizzard customer support. They have more expertise and would surely be able to help you. Do let us know the solution too once they fix it!
You should include all the information such as
The error you are getting is "failure to download patch please check your internet connection". It only happens for your Taiwan client, but your SEA client works fine.
You have already
1) Deleted the Battle.net Cache Folder - You tried this already.
2) Download New Setup Files - You reintalled.
3) Temporarily Disable Security Software - You disabled it.
4) Enabled access through firewall settings - You double confirmed its allowed (The Chinese characters)
I know of a work around solution, that is to copy n paste your folder and then apply the relocaliser to it but in the long run that is not a healthy method. So I do recommend you follow it up with Blizzard support.
Also, one last solution. I doubt it will work but hey you never know because it worked for somebody who had this problem before.
Internet Explorer -> File, then make sure Work Offline isn't checked. Also check Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Connection -> LAN Settings and make sure your proxy information is correct. If you don't use a proxy, make sure that everything is unchecked and hit OK. If that doesn't work, go back there and try toggling your Automatically detect settings box, then hit OK. Try the game again. If you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may have to right-click the game and start it up as an administrator to get write access.
does this key work in canada?
Edit: Also would it be possible to get a guest pass, as im new to this website i dont have the required 10 posts. I will be buying the key, as soon as i know that i have little to no lag on the taiwan/korean server.
EDIT EDIT: Nvm bout the guest pass, bout the actual game key anyways cant wait to get key.
Thanks nirvAnA
