So yea... tagline is Breaking the Meta and as someone who has never played DoTA2 seriously or even looked at LoL... its a really good breath of fresh air

Anyways, I posted this thread back in July. In that time, I had played Dawngate somewhat how people played SC2 or DoTA2 or even LoL, frequently and passionately. Mind I am not the best of gamers but I will be damn passionate of the game if I enjoy it.
Most will say, "LoL CLONE LOL BAD GAME GET REKT". To you, I say give the game a chance. Do not judge a game by the few screenshots you see or the videos you watch.
The game is unique cause it tries to get away from heroes/champions having predefined role. An example would be whenever I play DoTA2, I would play a Support hero and most of the time all I do is spam buffs/debuffs and buy whatever I can afford while my Carries would be like "n00b HURRY UP WITH MY BUFF FEGGET" or "WHY U HVNT BUY WARD (yes, I know its my job... you try buying wards and still not be useless in fights)"
In DG, the Role system means you can play your hero how you want. An example is I could pick a hero meant to be a carry but decide not to CS and just opt for the role where I get to be a pseudoSupport. Or pick a Tanky character and go around being an Assassin (course, you better have good DPS or CC or just a metricton of HP/DEF ).
And that brings me to the other thing. The gold (or vim) income. CSing is not the only way to earn "gold". The whole team can power up at a reasonable pace together because of the role system. An example would be Supports just poking away at other heroes would gain a net amount of gold WHILE protecting whoever is in lane CSing. Each role has a unique way to earn more gold in addition to the passive income.
Which brings me to the passive income. You get to mess with the other teams passive income by murdering their workers at their or capturing their worker wells. Need a boost in income? Think you can do it? Go ahead, capture that resource well. Bamn, more gold for you less gold for them.
And the characters and lore. Few games have had characters and lore that breathe its own life. If you are one who occasionally enjoys good lore, DG has it. It has lore that players influence through votes that are earned ingame. I cannot remember the last game that I played that did that.
And do not get me started on the community interaction. Any good game needs its devs to listen to its community. And that is what Waystone game has done.
At this point I am rambling. I don't even know why I'm necroing. Dawngate is that game that reminded me MOBAs can be fun, you just need the right mix (whenever I play DoTA2 with friends or pubbing it, I get very stressed; never trying LoL cause I'd rather not suffer acidosis).
When I found out DG was going to shutdown, it's kinda like finding out one of your friends whom you enjoy your time with but sometimes could never meet up is dying. And now you're just trying to deny it and try to spend as much time with him.
I'm sure we all have that one game we enjoyed but everyone else is like "WTF is this". Though, I hope you all will try this game before it goes down. At least for a few games. The devs unlocked all the content so there is no harm to you.
