Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series
Season 2 Finals Countdown
The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series (OSC) is the Oceanic, South East Asian and Chinese regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments. (Only around the top 10-25% gain points from each tournament). The top 32 players ranked via the OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the 2 day minimum $3000+ Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion!
Season 2 has now concluded!!! No more points of offer for 2014. Congratulations to everyone who has qualified for the yearly Grand Finale on Dec 20 + 21.
In 2014 OSC Partnered tournaments have given away $26191 combined prizepool! We have shown 159% growth with 358 individual players with points earned (up from 138 in 2013), and 154 completed partnered tournaments, up from 77 last year, which equates to 100% growth.
We're aiming to make this years finals even bigger and better
Championship Weekend/Finals:
20 December 2014 12:00 PM AEDTCountdown to 20th December 12pm!
The finals will be played over 2 days, December 20 + 21st (Kr/Aest timezone)
Prizepool
Our season 1 Finals had a $2100 prizepool, distrubted between 1st - 16th. Our aim is to build on that for this years finals! $3000+
Blizzard ANZ will help out, and i'll chip in a decent amount too. Sponsors contracts are in the process of re-negotiation for a new year, so we may require some community help to build this event up to the high level it deserves, and a true reflection on the years season! We are hoping some of those who can spare a few dollars will give back to these guys. A spare $10, $20 all adds up! In addition any donation of $25 AUD or more will have exclusive access to all replays from the seasons finals. Donations are open now, and will close on Dec 16th.

We will hopefully run a 24hr special community fun day/fundraiser featuring several SEA pro players and personalities closer to the seasons conclusion, like we did in 2013.
Format
Day One (20th December) will be group stage, for players ranked 9th-32nd. Players ranked 1st-8th will be pre-seeded into Day Two's Double Elim Championship bracket (Season 2013 example).
There will be 4 groups of 6 players on Day One. Everyone in a group players each other once. The top 3 players from each group will join the top 8 season seeds in a 20 player Double Elimination bracket on the Sunday.
All series are best of 3. Map score will be used if there is a tie on equal series wins. If players are still tied on map score, the player who won their series in the group advances.
This is the same format as last year.
What's new is players ranked 9-16th will be able to select a player to join their group. 9th will be paired with 16th (Group A), 10th with 15th (Group B), etc to begin with. They can select anyone ranked 17-32nd. The remaining 8 players unselected at the end will be disturbed via admin discretion.
Massive thanks to our 2013-14 Sponsors Silicon Sports + digitalanvil, Tt eSPORTS, Blizzard ANZ and eSports SG + Xmashed Gear. Without these companies contributing to our tournament it's fair to say the prizepool would be far smaller. But it's not just about the $'s. All these companies have a long history of supporting Starcraft 2 and esports in SEA. They care about the scene and our community. So many thanks to them all! If you esports fans, players etc can send them some love and thanks for supporting SC2 + the Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series it would be appreciated in return. They all are leaders in their industry, so if it comes down to a choice between brands, pick these guys who support esports!
*Some of these contracts expire in November, but hopefully they decide to come back and support the season finals and season 3 (2015). eSports SG + Xmashed Gear wont be recommitting again however, so thanks to them for their help for 2013-14.
Silicon Sports are a Melbourne based company, responsible for the succesful Melbourne Barcrafts. They also have a quality SC2 team and academy, plus a dedicated casting team. They also do a lot of work in the DOTA community.

What do you guys think about players selecting opponents for their group?
That'd be sick. This is once in a year, and I assume 9th - 14th gets to choose? That'll motivate those who are 15th and below to fight for more points.
Will there be like 24h relay streams to raise funds for this? I think it'd be great, all the more with some SEAtizens in ROOT they could raise awareness about this and people out of SEA might end up contributing to the prize pool!

9th-16th can choose, so we are rewarding the next highest 8 seeds (1-8 seeded into day 2 already).
So they'll select 8 players (1 each), leaving 8 remaining, which will be randomised/allocated to groups depending on race distribution/teamkills, etc.

Announcing that at a minimum, the top 20 players will be paid in this years finals, up from top 16 in 2013.
We shall also have a dedicated production budget, which will enable us to get world class commentators, improved sponsor promotion, graphics, etc
We are proud to state that even with 2 months left to go, we have shown 100% growth with 275 individual players with points earned (up from 138 in 2013), and 84 completed partnered tournaments ($15545 combined prizepool*), so we estimate a total of 100 for this season, which will equate to 32% growth on last year.
*Excludes Grand Finale + Invitationals, and is largely inflated by WCS, but still awesome work by all involved

Thus far we have shown 118% growth with 301 individual players with points earned (up from 138 in 2013), and 95 completed partnered tournaments, up from 77 last year, which equates to 23% growth already with 50 days to come.

There I met australian player PiG from Team Exile5, not only a creative and entertaining Zerg master, but also a cool guy to chat and to drink a beer with. So I looked for information on the Starcraft 2 scene in Australia and, by PiG's manager's indication, found this incredible online tournament which will feature high caliber players from abroad as well as some korean stars, including the Dreamhack Stockholm 2014 champion ( http://www.pbase.com/saulovh5150/dh_open_2014 for pictures).
As an additional bonus prize, Saulo will be donating one of his amazing prints/photo's to the winner of this years finals!
I am personally really excited about this partnership, as i'm a massive fan of art and photography, and think it's great that we can branch out from traditional gaming industry sponsors. Plus Saulo obviously shares our passion and love of starcraft so it's great to welcome him into our community!
Don't think he's on twitter atm, but be sure to check out his various albums (especially dreamhack!)
For our second piece of news, i'd like to introduce and welcome a new member to the OSC admin team, Andrew ‘Namakaye’ Gosney. For those who don't know him, he's a Protoss player from Brisbane, recently picked up by the x5 academy, but he also does most of the Liquipedia updates and coding for sc2sea tournaments. He's one of those guys who puts in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to help out the sc2sea community, aka a champion!
I'm planning on hopefully travelling for a few months overseas next year, so my sc2 time will be extremely limited during that time frame, so it will be good to have one or two trusted community members to run the growing OSC league in my absence.
He can be contacted via his twitter, sc2sea PM or skype if there are any OSC related questions or concerns if i can't be contacted.
Season 2 will conclude on Monday 1st December

Good evening, everybody. This is Saulo Silva here.
First of all, a big thank you to Eddie for letting me join SC2SEA.
I reside in Norway and, in addition to PC gaming, I have a passion for photography (and motorcycling). My first contact with Starcraft dates back from 1998, when it was first released, so it is with great enthusiasm that I come to the community not only as a supporter, but also as someone who loves the game. And as a side note, I am a much better watcher than a player.
My commitment is to do what is within my reach to help players do their job, develop, be busy, grow to fight for the greater glory and, most importantly, to show that I am grateful for all the entertainment they provide.
This is just the beginning, I hope that by bringing an "additional drone" I can assist SC2SEA be more successful than what it already is.
In the near future I will build a site that is more adequate to link photography and Starcraft 2 together. There you will be updated with whatever I bring from tournaments that I attend and, of course, other trips to hunt beautiful pictures. For now, reach me at www.pbase.com/saulovh5150
As Eddie mentioned, the champion will take not only the prize money, but also one of my prints of his/her choice, and these are in very limited runs to make it more exclusive and valuable.
Good luck to all participants. See you in Jönköping if you go to DH Winter.
Saulo Silva
