ToR brings you a tournament for the whole community to be able to play in. Date
To be announced as we will have to work out numbers and i will have to pair people up, cut off day for signups will be Friday the 29th.
each round of the bracket will most likely be played over 2 nights to ensure people can get there to play there games. The format?
Teams of 2, double elimination. Bo3
How it will work
A high league player will be placed with a lower league player, First game the high league player will be coaching the lower league player through skype, mumble, or chat (if you dont have a mic)
second game it will be lower league player coaching the higher league player telling him what builds to do when to attack and such. (you will be the same race)
Price
First place price will be $50 to split between the 2 players
Second place price will be $20 to split between the 2 players.
and Third place price will be $10 to split between the 2 players
Rules
Both coaches will be spectating and will not be allowed to tell there player what the other player is doing, there will be someone from the ToR clan in the game to make sure that no one is doing this as then your team will be disqualified.
So if you want to play, post your name and league, and race in this thread, you dont need to have a partner i will put you into groups as we are getting more people to sign up
ToR fighting
dante it is like first game the high league player will be telling the lower league player what to do, the second game, the higher league player plays, and the lower leaguer gets to tell him what to do.
and venom when we get more people signing up i will be posting random partners up from what league and all people are.
This sounds interesting. We do this a decent amount in private practice, but having it as a tournament sounds intriguing. I think the hardest part of this would be to actually do what they tell you if you play a very different play style to them. How does the speccing work? Will it effectively be that both coaches are spectators, and can therefore see the entire game?
Personally I think that each coach should be ONLY allowed to view the camera of the player. The ToR official can then look at player and coach cam and make sure they match. IF there is any difference, the team should just have to be disqualified. Realistically the coach shouldnt need to do much more than click the players name, press "c" and then worry about the game.
Is it possible that i(high league player) go to my friend(lower league player) house and guide him from behind and vice-versa so there wont be the problem of having obs watching?

Just a thought
There's no way to ensure that though!
But interestingly the matchup could become such that both 'coaches' know what the opponent is doing and to win, the player has to be spot on with timings and micro They are no longer coaches in a way.
yes you can sign up zoom, and yes each coach will only be allowed to look at there players camera or only allowed to view theres, and with the production tab we trust that coaches will do the right thing and will not tell there players what the other team is doing its called respect fairness and honestly, and proan i think that could work but we would have to make sure its not you playing all the games :P

How will you prevent someone from looking at the observer panel -_-
While this tournament approach is fresh, there's no way to actually enforce this
Can u clarify on what u mean by lower league and higher league? As in lower league meaning from bsg and higher league from plat --> gm? Or is a diamond and gm match also considered a lower-higher league pair(just an example)?
U also mentioned that the organizers would be doing the pairing? Does that mean that if aplayer prefers a certain partner (meeting the expectations ofc), is it allowed for a pair entry?
Just some thoughts that crossed my mind when reading this
thxs
TBH I think the low level player coaching the high level player will work great from a spectator perspective, and the other way round is maybe a bit less cool spectator-wise, but good player development-wise
I can't wait to see the counters some of the lower players come up with (battlecruisers counter banelings)
Having both players set to busy and having obs set to ref should suffice this way if anythingnisnsaid in game all players can see it. Aside it just comes down to trust that the player coach combo dont have chat boxes open or telling them exactly whats going on through VOIP.
I like the idea though, maybe think of a way tomake it easier to confirm if players are following the rules or not. Regardless i will enter :-) should be interesting.
