For the Amateur players I'll try to include up-coming players representation from all clans such as mGG, FaDe, OS, etc as well as a total mix of unknown bronze/diamond/master players. Zoom is supposed to be representing ToR and taking a Pro Player slot but he won't be available to come.
Pro Player invites, match formats and more news on the HOTS key giveaway will be announced shortly. Much thanks to UHF for the wicked design.
It was always going to be a two day event and its going to follow the same format as the other international Alienware Pro-Am tournaments i.e Pros vs Ams in Ro16. I managed to tweak it so Amateurs get to play more on Day 1 and have more feel of playing in a competition environment. So no one will be going home after 1 match!
Day 1 will be two separate group stages done GSL style.
4 Groups of 4 players in each "Pro" and "Am" category
Top 2 from each group selected
Top 16 Pros > Top 8 Pros (Stream 1)
Pro player seeding based on LAN tournament results
The main benefit is it prevents "tied" situations and ensures only a max of 5 maps will be played. All matches are best of 3.
Match 1: A vs B
Match 2: C vs D
Match 3: "Winner of Match1" vs "Winner of Match 2"
Winner of this match qualifies as top seed in group.
Match 4: " Loser of Match1" vs "Loser of Match 2"
Loser of this match is eliminated from the tournament.
Match 5: "Loser of Match 3" vs "Winner of Match 4"
Winner of this match is the second seed to qualify for the tournament.
2nd Day will be the knockout round
Top 8 pros play the Top 8 Amateurs Single Elimination (Stream 1 & 2)
Finals is Bo5
