For the 9th spot in the xGTL, we will be holding an open qualifier. The qualifier will take place during the month of May and is open to any Pro Team. If you are interested in your team participating in the qualifier, the team manager needs to submit the following information.
You must include:
Team name
Sponsors
Manager and contact details
Player roster including player race.
If you apply for the qualifier you acknowledge that your team is able to attend the qualifiers, and also able to participate in the main league in June and July. You will be expected to provide 4 players for 8 weeks. League Games will take place during weeknights, qualifier games will take place at an appropriate time.
Details such as dates and formats will be released once we know how many teams are interested in qualifying. The format will most likely be a single elimination bracket with random seeding, however can change depending on number of interested teams.
We reserve the right to deny applications should we feel that you do not meet the requirements of the league.
If you have any questions please contact me via PM.
Due to ASiT occupying Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as ASUS ROG Invite Qualifiers taking Mondays, all 3 qualifier nights will be on Friday. The main league has games on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If your team cannot field 4 players on a Friday, you are going to have issues in the main league.
May 4th 20:00 KST - Ro8
May 11th 20:00 KST - Ro4
May 18th 20:00 KST - Finals
Format:
The format will be the following:
Set 1: 1v1 Bo3
Set 2: 1v1 Bo3
Set 3: 1v1 Bo3
Set 4: 1v1 Bo3
Set 5: Ace, 1v1 Bo3 Revival (You may reuse any player from previous sets)
If you have questions about the format, please ask. I do not want teams not understanding the format and handicapping themselves as a result.
First team to win 3 sets wins the match. The remaining maps are not played out. (In the main league, the first 4 sets are always played)
Player submission is due 24 hours before the match. You are required to submit players for the first 4 sets, the 5th set is to be decided on the day, after the 4th set is completed. Failing to submit the lineup will result in a forfeit. Please submit them via sc2sea PM.
All maps are preset, and will be posted 1 week out from the match.
On the game day, should a player not be available for his match 10 minutes after the lobby is created, he will forfeit the map. Should he be another 10 minutes late, he will forfeit the set. All sets are to be played in order, you may not substitute players after the 24 hour deadline for roster submission.
Only the Manager from each team will be allowed to spectate.
Channels, maps and admins will be allocated closer to game day.
Alright then, may I ask why StorM are invited then? I didn't think they had any sponsors, therefore they are a clan no?
EDIT: I don't mind the sponsorship rule (rules are rules, fair enough) I'm just questioning whether StorM abide by them.

Benji's answer from the "Main" thread, Benji's done his homework
Just a reminder to teams to submit your lineups before tomorrow. I'll close signups around 7pm AEST. We have had a much higher response than expected, should be an interesting open qualifier!
1. Carnage eSports
2. Team Eve
3. Team Pacific
4. eehan Timing
5. Team Cube
6. Team Iris
7. Team Supremacy
8. GAMECOM Nv
Each team has been checked and they all meet the requirements. If you think you have submitted a roster and do not appear in this list, please submit your lineup again outlined above AND send me a sc2sea PM. I will generate the brackets tomorrow and update the thread with information for the qualifier.
Note: The above numbering is NOT seeding, seeding will be done via random shuffle in challonge.
Going to throw my predictions like the mighty Chadmann
Ro8
eehan > PacificBasa (Plainly because i have no info about pacificbasa at all if anyone have please pm me HEHE)
Iris > EvE ( Iris have been improving so fast in their team house and recently just 5-1 Flash leading me to think they stand a much better chance)
Carnage > Cube ( Cube has 1 or 2 good players but i dont think they stand a chance against the deep roster of Carnage)
Nv > SPR.PG ( Easiest to predict since Nv have SOSOSOSO many good players even though SPR.PG is strong but i dont really see them being able to take down glade/rossi/pinder/deth)
Ro4
eehan > iris( This could go either way but i have to support my own team huh?)
Nv > Carnage( Would be a close one probably going to Ace match but i dont see moonglade getting taken down by anyone on sea)
Finals
Nv > eehan (Not gonna be bias but Nv is really really really strong that i dont think that my team stand a good chance. Hoping to bring it to ace match though)
Question to Benji: Will these games be streamed? I was hoping that at least the finals of this qualifier to be stream as to
1. Hype up the tournament
2. Enable the teams to have chance to get streamed
3. So that i can watch.
can we add additional players to our roster even after the rosters are published? our team might have additional players in the near future because we are already looking to add at least 2 other players to our team. thank you.

Yes, but they will not be able to play in your next match after adding them to your roster.

Missed this question, Yes Finals will be streamed, maybe Ro4 as well.
Maps will be uploaded to SEA over the next week (hopefully this weekend). Should there be problems uploading the map, another version of the same map will be used.
All maps have a supply depot at the bottom of the ramp to prevent a 3 pylon block
Antiga Shipyard has the gold bases in the middle converted to regular bases
Daybreak has a half base (5 Minerals 1 Gas) in front of the natural (Same as GSL version, Ladder has a full base)
Metropolis has a lot of doodads removed. This does not effect the map at all, however does make it run alot better. If your player has had an issue with it in the past, ask them to test the map first. It has been tested with a few people that have lagged on previous versions of Metropolis. It is already uploaded to SEA.
Metropolis has Creep Tumors on the islands (Ladder has rocks). The tumors block Hatcheries as well as to not give Zerg an unfair advantage (All 3 races need to detect and kill the tumor before expanding there)
Antiga Shipyard and Entombed Valley have forced cross spawns.
If you find any issues with the maps, let me know. If you have further questions about the maps, please ask them.
Just a reminder that lineups are due by Thursday (2 days time). I have a few already, but teams that do not submit a lineup in time will be walked over. I will be checking this after the ASiT broadcast on Thursday, ensure your lineups are submitted (via PM) by then.
Shall endeavor to get our lineup to you later tonight, just finished packing up my whole apartment and i'm off to the airport in a few hours for my relocation.
Just a final reminder, the lineups are due tonight (As soon as ASiT has completed).
Lineup received:
- cR
- Team Pacific
- eehan Timing
- Team Eve
- Team Cube
- Nv
Still waiting for the following lineups:
- Team Iris
- Team Supremacy
If Iris or SPR have submitted your roster, I have not received it as of this post. Please PM me with your roster sometime today or you will be walked over.
Please be in the channel BEFORE 8pm KST (9pm Sydney). Sets are played IN ORDER. If a player is not available after 10 minutes, he will be walked over. Each team may have 1 spectator.
Bel'shir Beach is being used, the map geography has been changed so it is identical to the current Belshir Winter, but I don't think anyone needs to be reminded of how cold it is getting :P
Sanshorn Mist is currently not uploaded, instead the ESV version that is on SEA at the moment will be used instead. I have had a few complaints about the map (mostly as no one really knows it) and would appreciate some feedback from the community regarding it.
Im glad the guy who doesn't even show up to his team's team-league games to lose it for them comes onto my stream whenever I'm streaming any non starcraft game and has a go at me about my commitment to sc2...

I don't think its correct to criticise him without knowing the circumstances of him not showing up. I'll leave him to explain it to you and the community if he wants to.
Regarding the walkover, Eve originally asked if they could sub in another player for Maltiso. We said no to this and assumed Maltiso would be unable to turn up. When Maltiso did show up, Flaunt had already gone to sleep. It was just a misunderstanding
100% on predictions so far.. ^_^
I think it will either be 1 sided between Carnage and Nv or very close.. will be a good series
but next round is EvE>eehan and Nv>Carnage (sadly) - we will try our best for the win - but these guys are the favs in the tournament. gl to all the teams.
Benji - just to clarify.. the match for this coming round is the same structure as the previous? I send you the first 4 - then we can pick the 5th (ace) if needed on the night...?
Anyway, good luck to all the teams ^_^
EDIT - oops, excuse the double post, didn't realise I was last to post.. >.<

Set 5
[xGTL]Korhal Compound
[xGTL]Metropolis
[xGTL]Entombed Valley
Also, I will not be streaming Ro4, however because I understand that teams will want to watch the games I am happy to allow each game to have 1 caster (to replace the manager observer) to stream so the team can watch. I want this to be less of a show and more of a 'Hey now everyone can watch their own teams games' and thus have a few small requirements:
- No TL event
- No competing sponsor logos on overlay(Razer, Kingston, CH, V only)
- Casters need to be preapproved by myself (PM)

Nice change, good move.
May I ask why no TL event though? Would this create some sort of conflict for later on when you cast the finals? (I don't understand the process myself, be good if you could shed some light on it.)

Basically the production I have in mind is not yet completed and I want the average viewer to associate the event with the vision I have in mind. There will be 32 streamed games in the group stage alone, so plenty of content there for everyone

Fair enough, it's a shame that others won't get the bump in viewership but given that you've got a clear plan of attack it should be all for the best.
Looking forward to it~ ^.^ Carnage fightinggggggggggggg
Hey.. I've just been informed that EdgE is having pc issues.. So he may be unable to play.. If that is the case if it is possible to sub in Fenner? Otherwise we may have to forfeit that match up if edge can't get to another pc...
However - I am Looking forward to the match!! Should be a good series! glglgl!!

can i possibly play my match earlier in the day?
No, all games are to be played at the allocated time and in match order.
If I allow exceptions for you, then other people will ask for it, and it becomes a slippery slope very quickly and the rules turn more into guidelines. I know that historically, SEA events have had more lax rules, however whilst this is a SEA event, we will have Taiwan teams participating, and having lax rules will not fly well with them and our Taiwan sponsors (Kingston and Razer are TW based).
Hey can I stream the Nv vs cR match? I don't have a headset so I won't be able to commentate, but Pinder is happy to team up with someone from cR so they can cast together with me observing.
EDIT: It also looks like half of the match is gonna be walkovers anyway lol
