Just make a blanket rule regarding how late someone can be from now on. Done.
There already are rules on this.
"If a player is going to be late for any reason, ample warning must be given to the admins. If the forewarned late arriving player fails to show within 10 minutes of the time notified by the team this will result in a walkover. A player that fails to show within 10 minutes after their match is due to begin (10 minutes after start time if the offender is the starting player. 10 minutes after the end of the previous match if the offender is a subsequent player) will be walked over."
I think the issue is most teams are really understanding and generous, and I don't think this should change.
As I said, I'm happy to be accommodating, but if there is no more methods to delaying play then sub the player. I would rather see games played than win by Walk Over. Its not about winning, lets not lose sight of the fact we want to promote SEA and the players within.

Why didn't Ecko enforce them then?
If you truly weren't happy about the lateness of the match, then you should not have let them play.
It seems a bit silly to complain about it after the fact when there are things you can do about it.
I would like to say that swarmstika is speaking as an admin and eCKo are fine with what happened. Every team has had problems in the past, even tilea tonight but no one seems to want to bring that up. We just want to play games
I don't know if I should be saying this as I'm not ecko but pig has been late/held up the series 3 weeks in a row now. He was given a warning in the first week he played, last week we had to play my game before law vs pig too and no warning was given. This week again he did not patch his game, whilst I didn't even know about the patch either, surely someone in the x5 chat mentioned it? He wasn't told at all? Either way it's really his or x5's fault that he didn't patch. They also had to move tilea's match back because she didn't patch either... There is really not excuse for it him to still not know about it or have been told.
It's getting annoying. Honestly 3 times in a row is enough for something more than just a point taken off x5's score.
The first two were my bad - I apologise for that.
For yesterday though my client is literally refusing to update (Tilea and Chan had the same problem temporarily - mine STILL refuses to patch). It would take 20 seconds to download if I can get it to start but my launchers just refusing to detect the patch for whatever silly reason.
I eventually realised it wouldn't fix and had to borrow Dot's PC and install my keyboard drivers and all her ingame settings to get it ready, so it took way longer to get on than expected. I would have been more apologetic when I finally got on client but I was more focused on figuring out the new interface and finding the correct chat channel. Sometimes technical problem happen and I really appreciate Ecko and admins being patient and understanding.
At the end of the day, I'd rather see all the matches played. This time around the issues were because of extenuating circumstances but I think the main reason people are so up in arms about this is that PiG has been late/had issues several weeks running.
I still stick by something I said while the issue was ongoing in that this has only really blown up because its x5 and PiG. If any other team or player did something similar, I think for the most part we wouldn't really mind (both ecko and fray have had some problems with players in the past) and that is definitely not a good thing. Its hard at the top I guess.
Hopefully we won't have any more problems from here on in so we can enjoy the good games and storylines without any controversy.
I agree with Nxz. Lets just set up boundaries/rules for future occurrences of this and focus on this weeks games and have fun. Yes it's unfortunate that this conversation had to take place, but it's also good because it lets us universally discuss and (hopefully) come to an agreement with a rule-set to cater for similar future incidents.
I can definitely understand some peoples frustration, especially since it's been multiple weeks in a row, but since it was a technical difficulty this week (which is definitely reasonable given the patch) then I don't think its too big an issue to get uptight about.
Anyway well played to everyone in eCKo vs x5 last night, was some fun games to watch! Excited for fray vs Silicon on Thursday!
good luck lawrence i hope we have a good game and you play your best ^-^
