Who: DynSL_Osiris vs FaDe HealZ (15 OSC)
Date: Saturday night
Time: 7pm Aest
Can healz slay a dragon?
This challenge cannot have OSC points on the line because the two participants are not of close league proximity. You may challenge each other for money or just without anything on the line for fun.
Precedence has been set before, just not written. We'll update the challenge thread to make the rule clearer. Sorry for any inconvenience caused!
Just my input on this whole OSC thing. To make the top 32 of OSC, where the points matter, you need 222.5+ points. Currently, Osiris and myself are sub-50, and neither of us are anywhere near good enough to acquire points at a significantly rapid rate. And 15 OSC points won't really change much.
But obviously, if such challenges were allowed, some GM could just farm off diamond noobs and get a lot of free points, so there would have to be a way to ensure that people can't abuse it. So I like the following idea:
- Challenge matches for OSC points are ok for ANY league difference as long as both players are below 50/75 OSC points and the OSC points at stake do not exceed 10/15/25
- If a player of any skill level gets above 50/75 points, the league difference thing stands, because that's fair enough and stops people abusing the system
I like it because it lets noobs like me get a chance to play in a relatively competitive setting for fun, meaning lower-tier players get access to more of this cool stuff, and there isn't really a way to abuse the system because in the end, 15 OSC points aren't going to make a significant difference if you have to earn another 150+ from playing legitimate tournaments against Masters/Grandmasters.
There may be weaknesses in my logic, so if there's a hole, feel free to comment on it. And the cases where this will occur would be minimal, so the effect of implementing this wouldn't make much difference.
I get that the OSC is competitive and there is significant money on the line, so this could deny the idea, but I don't see why we can't be more lax on matches between lower level players like myself.
Besides, Osiris is Masters Zerg Garbage, though I am , I am also Protoss, which means I win 3-0 GG
EDIT: FM is right, I'm willing to lose my few OSC points, and the impact is insignificant so that's why I did the challenge :3

If SouL 99-0 Azure, and SouL 2-1 HealZ
Because 99>2 and 1>0 Therefore HealZ > Azure

I am happy to bridge the gap and challenge both Healz and Osiris for 15 points.
Either that, or just allow healz to go for it. I mean, Osiris is a scrub anyway, right?
I understand the rule tho, otherwise people could just farm points off noob scrubs. Or noob scrubs could 'donate' their points to their favourite 'competitive' player.
EDIT:
I was just reading thru your response, healz. And while you're points are valid, I guess it stops scrubs getting a spot in top 32 by farming points of other scrubs and validates their tournament. Or say (Hypothetically, of course), Osiris collects 10-15 points off 10 other low tier players and then challenges a high tier mate of his for all his points it could shift 150 odd points to a player that might be within 50 of the top 16.. etc I guess its just a fail safe against point farming as well, with bonus points to casted Bo5's you can see how quickly a few points here and there can add up.
I understand what you're trying to setup HealZ, but i think it could still give someone a decent boost/and still be abused as 'donating' if open to challenge any league. Eg, bet 50 points, gain another 25 bonus for streamed, that person is quickly at 125. A while currently it's not enough to make top 32, with increased tournament activity and results they could potentially catch up quicker.
While OSC does offer incentives (particularly to SEA players) for casuals/'noobs' (To use your language), at our core we are trying to put together a highly competitive ranking system for the highest level of competition. Everyone can potentially acquire points which is cool in itself.
So i think we'll still have to stick with the established rules of close league proximity/results based allowance.
There are surely a few GPD level players with points who might be up for a challenge
