Hey, this post is regarding the TCP internal ladder.
While it's been great fun, I feel that there is room for improvement for our ladder format, perhaps for season 2?
- Unequal participation
With the current challenge system, it can be seen that there is great disproportionality in terms of participation. The 'Games played' distribution as seen here is something like 10, 8, 4, 3, 2, 1, etc.
I'm not sure what the underlying reason is, whether it is because the others are just inactive, or they are afraid to challenge people, but an explanation I see is that it is because there is no clear structure.
Proposed new format:
Assuming we have 20 players (I guess we should ask who wants to be included),
Round robin system, with 4-5 games to be played every week by each player vs their respective opponents. This will lead to roughly a 1 month season.
Following this, we can a playoff stage of the top 8 according to seeding, to conclude with a final winner of the ladder season.
(For playoff stage, single elimination, BO3, with the finals a BO5. The playoffs can be done in one day. I can arrange for it to be casted, etc.)
This way players will get to play their games and there's much more intra-clan interaction (i.e. you won't just be playing against huk or durrr all the time) and with a schedule in place, you will be more inclined to actually PLAY (or get walkedover)
If anyone is going to say it's too much trouble, I can do the pairings/matchups myself and admin the whole thing.
But but.. I won't be able to beat XYZ in !
I thought about this, and my solution is this - separate league tables (but you will still play against everyone from the other leagues)
This means the BSG will get a league table of their own, and top 5 qualifies, the PD gets a table of their own, and top 2 qualify, and the Masters/GMs will only have 1 qualify.
