[OSC]OSC Season 2 Has Started, Featuring New Changes
Season 2 + Re-Branding
We're happy to announce that we'll be back for another big year of SEA starcraft 2 action in 2014! We will be building on our successful inaugural year, where we had 80+ partnered tournaments, concluding in the $2100 Grand Finale weekend. This season we shall offer more tournaments, more ways to earn points, and more $'s to the players!
However from season 2 onwards, we shall be rebranding ourselves! It will be the same SEA Championship Series format and team of 2013, we're just altering the name, we'll now be known as the OSEANIC Starcraft Championship (OSC).
In addition to earning points from placing highly in tournaments, we shall be offering bonus 'scalp' points, where players can earn points for any bo3+ series they win against top 32 opponents in partnered tournaments.
Ways to earn bonus points:
Anyone ranked below 16th beats someone in Top 16: 5 OSC points
Anyone ranked below 16th beats someone in Top 17-32 ranked equal or higher then themselves: 2.5 OSC points
Anyone ranked 16th - 9th beats anyone ranked equal or higher then themselves: 2.5 OSC points
1st - 8th have no chance to earn bonus points
*With proper seeding 1st-8th ranked players should not meet up until the later rounds of a tournament, where placing points are available.
*The losers of these series face no penalties other than potential elimination from individual tournaments.
Challenge Match Changes
We feel these were underutilised in 2013, so we will offer more incentives in 2014.
We will donate 15 points towards any best of 5 streamed match, and 25 points towards any best of 7 streamed match.
It's a great way to earn Power Ranking Points, settle rivalries, get revenge on the guy who knocked you out of a recent tourney, is bm on ladder/forums, etc. It also presents a new way to leapfrog someone up the ranks, so we hope to see more in 2014!
Minimum points a challenge must start at is 15 each, Max 100
Also announcing that Blizzard ANZ will be coming on board as an official partner for season 2014 and the yearly finals.
We look forward to working with them next season, as well with as our other great partners Silicon Sports, Tt eSports, eSports SG and Xmashed Gear.
Sponsors for the 2014 Season
Without these companies contributing to our tournament it's fair to say the prizepool would be far smaller. But it's not just about the $'s. All these companies have a long history of supporting Starcraft 2 and esports in SEA. They care about the scene and our community. So many thanks to them all! If you esports fans, players etc can send them some love and thanks for supporting SC2 + the SEA Championship Series it would be appreciated in return. They all are leaders in their industry, so if it comes down to a choice between brands, pick these guys who support esports!
Silicon Sports are a Melbourne based company, responsible for the succesful Melbourne Barcrafts. They also have a quality SC2 team and academy, plus a dedicated casting team. They also do a lot of work in the DOTA community.
Thermaltake is a well known brand for gaming & DIY in Case, Cooler, and PSU for years. Due to the constant requests for keyboards and mice from gamers and end users, Thermaltake decided to create a series of gaming keyboards, mice, and headsets with the Tt eSPORTS brand. By using Tt eSPORTS, we want to extend our product lines into the gaming industry, and provide more ''personalized gaming'' gears to gamers and enthusiasts worldwide. With years of experience in gaming industry, Tt eSPORTS is committed to bring the most personalized and the highest quality weapons for the most competitive cyber battles.
Donations
We're hoping the some of the community can chip in towards the prizepool. All money goes to the players. We want to make this as big as possible, and a true reflection on the years season. A spare $10, $20 all adds up! In addition any donation of $25 AUD or more will have exclusive access to all replays from the seasons finals. Donations are open now
Most of our sponsors and target audience are AU + NZ/Oceania based, so including that in our name will help in those areas, as well as giving international audiences a greater idea of where our region is located, as SEA can be pretty vague to some. We're not removing SEA, just presenting ourselves in a more marketable manner.
So ideally a new name will have Australia, New Zealand + South East Asia or Oceania +South East Asia in some wording.
ANSAC is just an idea.
Rossi suggest OSEANIC Championship and OSSC -Oceanic + SEA SC2 Circuit is another idea that's been suggested.
Happy to hear what others come up with, hopefully something as catchy and simple as SCS.
Scalp points will now be available for defeating this seasons top 32 players, as we have enough data to determine who is active and in form.
Anyone ranked below 16th beats someone in Top 16: 5 OSC points
Anyone ranked below 16th beats someone in Top 17-32 ranked equal or higher: 2.5 OSC points
Anyone ranked 16th - 9th beats anyone in Top 8: 2.5 OSC points
1st - 8th have no chance to earn bonus points
Thanks to some great work by xpaperclip, OSC tournament results, winners and top 16 are automatically updated and displayed on the right side of the forum >>>
