It’s my absolute pleasure to announce the roster for the newly formed StarCraft II team: CheckMate.
CheckMate is a team that has been a long time coming. The name, alluding to the ultimate, winning move in the game of chess, sets the tone for the upcoming games of our team members. Chess is a game of calculated, intelligent thought, which requires an intellectual, decisive mind in order to be victorious, much like StarCraft II. When it comes to CheckMate players, these are the qualities we attribute to them most.

Introducing Ben "Crimson" Macdonald
Crimson's extremely impressive run in the Tier 1 of SEACL early this year should be brought to mind, with an impressive map score of 19-8 (70%), and an even more impressive match score of 10-3 (77%), and a 75% win rate in Ace matches. He's been quiet on the tournament scene for a while now, but we're fully confident that he'll leave great impressions on the SEA scene yet again.
Ben has expressed an interest in expanding on his tournament history. He is actively working to take his play to the next level, and is working to elevate his level of play to the point where he will be consistently placing highly and winning tournaments on an international level. His goals for the future also include attending international tournaments and showing that he has what it takes to compete with the best.
Quote:
"I'm extremely excited to be playing in a team environment again and looking forward to seeing the directions we can head in as a team. I hope that we have a lot of successes together and that I can contribute my own share to them."

Introducing Jamie "Another Palmer
We can't forget Another's impressive results from 2011, taking 2 eSports NZ tournaments and championing the 2nd NZ Cup. While he, too, has been quiet on the tournament front in recent times; he attempted to qualify for WCS America Challenger League for Season 3, missing out on qualifying by two short best of threes. Jamie will be looking to impress again, as he did in 2011, at online and offline tournaments in the SEA region.
Jamie’s goals for the future mostly involve attaining WCS America Challenger status, something he narrowly missed this season. He is also constantly working towards achieving Grandmaster on the Korean server. Another has also expressed a desire to travel and compete in overseas tournaments.
Quote:
I have known Crimson and Flux for a long time now and am very happy to be a part of team CheckMate. I look forward to the things we will achieve together as a team.

I look forward to being on board the CheckMate team as manager. It's an exciting new challenge for me, and I can't wait to see what our players can bring to the scene in the future, and I'm also really excited to expand and improve our roster, and am looking forward to seeing the team grow.
We look forward to your support in upcoming team leagues!
