This software is good because you can use all the cards in the database for free. The drawbacks being that it's not automated, everything being manual and that's why the player will need skype to play (but actually it's fun).
If you want to join this session, add me on skype gr0alex, then just post into this thread indicating your interest . PM me your skype details. We will keep a group of 8 members first.

I give priority to players that gave me their skype details (see list below)
Are we going to be playing standard format? Haven't played MTG since Ravnica, have there been any significant rule changes since then (besides renaming mechanics)?
Im in, I'll put together online version of ultimate lock-down deck.
Leyline of the Void (no graveyard) + Mists of Stagnation (Can only attack with creatures = to number of cards in graveyard) + Web of Inertia (can only untap cards = to number of cards in graveyard)
Yeah that's right, the ultimate troll deck, stand there and do nothing while I kill you slowly with a 1/1 creature.....WOOT!
That is assuming tourney is type 1.... (extended?) or Type 2 (Current)

T1 aka vintage = all the cards allowed, banned cards are allowed but one per deck only (Mox, black lotus....) T1.5 aka legacy = all the cards of T1 without the banned cards. T1.X aka extended = last four years of extension sets T2 aka standard = the two last extension sets Block=current extension set only
There are others formats but not so competitive.
As we are all former players i propose we play in legacy.
I quit magic last year some time, but have fun you guys! =)

Main rule change is that combat damage no longer goes on the stack. You used to be able to react to combat damage, now you can't. Honestly in the new sets it isn't a huge deal, because there aren't cards that you would really want to use right before damage goes on, you can just Giant Growth your dude after blockers are declared. Basically as soon as you say "1 point to Deadly Recluse and 3 to Giant Spider" the damage is applied.
Oh and you'll need to learn about planeswalkers. (unique/legendary) Permanent cards that do all kinds of crazy things and have loyalty counters. You can use 1 ability per turn as a sorcery at the cost of loyalty counters (some abilities add counters, some take), when your planeswalker is out of loyalty counters he goes to the discard pile. Any spell that can target a player can target a planeswalker (but you must say targetting my opponent and redirecting damage to his planeswalker), and when you attack with a creature you must declare if you are attacking your opponent or the planeswalker.
Removed from the game = exiled
The board = battlefield (so instead of "as enters play" its "as enters the battlefield")

Limited formats are best for this sort of thing... Constructed takes a lot of effort if you want to know a format/matchups even fairly well. Limited just requires some decent card evaluation (obviously knowing the sets well and the good threats/options your opponent could have with various mana floating helps. but it's not as massive as knowing a constructed format).
If we can get 8 and do a standard 8 man draft or something? There are websites that will simulate a draft, and we then all submit the deck from it (the deck comes with a uuid (or something) for the draft, so people won't cheat) and play those decks through workstation...

Yeah good idea , if players prefer to play limited i am fine with that . Do you have the adress for the automated draft?
I still propose we gather on tuesday at least for trying to set-up the software for everyone.
There are default decks going along with the soft. If you prefer mighty decks i will send them to you through skype.
I'll submit a couple of decks that i used to play with casually with my friends
i won't be around to play though, so feel free to try it ot. Hopefully i can remember my deck. ^_^

Also note that a planeswalker named "Jace" is very imba, imagine Colossus that shoots air.
