I think some people missed out cos they have work or whatever. It sucks that this is the case but it's kindof like a concert in that there's no fair way to stagger the tickets its just a first come first serve.
I don't know what volunteer jobs are actually available and what you'll be doing, but if someone joins to help setup and pack up and you get entry into the venue than that's awesome.
Helping out eSports by assisting the event AND you get to watch AND you'll probably spend some time/meet with the illustrious tastosis. but i don't know, just my opinion.
So i don't see a problem with this. I think There is a LOT of set up going to be needed
TL;DR Volunteering is good. do it
This is something that resonates quite a lot with me and I totally agree - I have a friend who volunteered for NASL/WCS as a game supervisor - got to hang out with Huk all day, along with other pros and big names like that. Got in to the after-party as well, along with a bunch of other things that made me mega jelly. So helping out even in a small amount is not only great for the event, but great for esports and yourself possibly too.
I'm hoping that something can be worked out with all of this; perhaps a reflex-action barcraft can be setup somewhere, I really would love to say that my fellow aussies were able to set aside some discontent about it all (which I totally understand don't get me wrong) and not be "all r/starcraft" and get crazy about it. Lets just try and figure out a way so that everyone can have a fun environment to watch the event in. It perhaps won't be as amazing as being at the venue; but if you're all passionate fans I'm sure a lot of fun can be had regardless of the situation.

Dunno why people are so surprised that if they didn't get a ticket then they magically can't go. It's unfortunate and it sucks, but it's no one else' fault but your own.
System said, "I assume" and I said "I think there's standing room as well" with a follow up comment saying, "I'll dig it up and post it tomorrow."
I didn't see any post saying 'actually, there is no standing room', and a bunch of people continuing to talk about additional space.
I'm just saying, if I'd known there was nothing without a ticket I'd have carved it into my ******* arm to make sure I remembered so I could go see Tastosis...
So you are saying a LOT of people have booked flights over, and if they were unable to get a ticket like this then they will not be allowed into the venue?

That's actually the complete opposite of what VaNzR said.

Yep. As it turned out I followed up the U18 thing instead. Place 100% of your blame on me, I can take it.
Saturday 11am: Doors Open! Ticket holders have express entry through to the viewing area.

This is taken directly from the ACL website. So what does express entry mean if no one else is allowed in?
Do we get to skip the volunteer and media line? Does it mean that we get express entry over the casters and players?

I don't mean to be rude about it, but the attitude of "tough shit" actually offended me.

Comment thing bugged out.
Vanz said that if you have booked flights and such and missed out on getting a ticket just send him a PM and he could perhaps sort something out.
Not sure what it means but best to PM and find out

I received all my emails within about 10 minutes of registration. Perhaps check junk mail?

This is a big point. There are people out there who were under the impression that even if they didn't get a ticket, worst case scenario they could still turn up on the day and at least get in. People do act differently in my case. As I said, I luckily logged on to SC2SEA at just the right moment. I didn't bother to set an alarm or anything - why bother? I understood entry was pretty much guaranteed for at least standing areas.
Of course, if you say "venue capacity 300 maximum, that is it, no standing area" I put an alarm in my phone, in gmail, I spraypaint it on my walls and get it tattooed on my forehead, and arrange to head in to work later so that I don't forget to be online ready to smash that register button. Especially having already paid for my airline tickets. I know lots of others who also already paid to fly, but haven't managed any.
It's not to say blame lies solely with the ACL guys - I mean, everyone had the same understanding and same warning, but it is definitely a lesson to be learned. This is a freak of an event, and unfortunately there is this one hiccup with the communication of information. I have to say I actually think Vanzr has responded pretty well to the whole thing, and kudos to the guy for trying to make sure things are right with people who bought tickets. At the end of the day, he and the ACL management could just say "look, sorry guys, this is how it is" and not do anything. But they are going out of their way to make things right the best way possible.
Everyone has a right to feel frustrated, and people shouldn't be slagged off for venting this. It's not fair to just say "it's your own fault" or potentially far worse. But at the same time, a little bit of love to the guys who are copping the venting, taking it in stride, and trying to turn any issues around
Haha, while I have no affiation with ACL and any thoughts on how WCS was organized but I assume they booked the venue before the international casters were organized, in which case they are unable to change venues etc.
I can assure you if ACL had organized the casters before finalizing the venue, they would have changed places.

Clearly, we need to blame blizzard for bringing Tastosis to Australia. Bastards.

Nothing :/ well regardless I have my name on the registration so I am hoping at least I can get a fix on that, I hope to god I spelt my email wrong lol
How was registration done? Am I going to be offered a ticket for $50 from someone who claimed 50 of them, or is the ticket for the purchaser only and ID required?
