Just venting here ... I am considering giving up this game. I played brood war back in the day and I was very good. While I consider myself pretty decent in this game.. I just cant get around a bunch of things. 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 FORGET IT. I kept a note log and documented 10 strait 3v3s where one or two of my teammates leave the game right at start up. (then get called a noob while 4 races come in for the kill ) So i gave up all and only played 1v1 but still cant seem to escape the BS. Canon rushes almost 75 percent of my matches, reaper rushes daily. I refuse to use cheap tatics. I guess that's why my record sucks. Ive put way too much time into this game to suck the way I do. I just dont get how people play so cheap. Does it get old after a while?

well it really depends on what league you are in. but playing random at low level certainly doesnt help you.
Cause those kinds of cheeses that you a facing require different reactions and response from each race.
and it slows down your improvement overall because they all have different macro mechanics etc. if re watch you replay and cannot see where you went wrong their a plenty of people on here that will be able to analyse your replays for you and help you improve

My last match was so messed up. This guy goes mass canon rush from the beginning. I managed to get him out of my area when he snuck in..So he just surrounds the whole perimeter of my base with canons. So by the time I could counter with immortals to take out the canons he had like 7-8 voids. I had a few stalkers but not enough since the immortals use a lot of resources.
I can understand why you would get mad when a teammate leaves but why are you getting mad that the enemy cheese you in 1v1? It's a perfectly legitimate strategy and considering they won (I would assume) it was a good decision on their part. Just learn to play the game and you will learn to defend the different types of strategies people use including cheese.
Review each replay where you lost to see why you lost and what you could have done better so that you know for next time.
Getting mad doesn't help you improve. Every time you lose you should be happy because you are given the opportunity to learn and become a better player.
or you can upload a replay to the "replay feedback thread" so other people can help you with your games (if you are unsure what to do after reviewing it yourself)
A simple solution would be to just play with friends. 1v1 in customs with clan mates, or try and befriend the few decent people you run into in teams or whatever. I don't see how you're possibly facing more or less cheese than anyone else does o_O
If you're not good enough to hold off random cheeses like that then you aren't good enough to call them cheap tactics because you yourself are not a good macro player. Try throwing in a few of your own (cheesing is so much fun) or just watch pro games, get a solid build down, and improve. At the end of the day, do whatever makes you happy, and if sc2 doesnt make you happy then yeh you should quit or take a break and play another game.
Which race do you play? I'm assuming it's at least mainly protoss judging from your post. I'd find a pro of that race and pay attention to his scouting patterns, also there's youtube videos on how to beat every cheese.
For cannon contains just use stalkers to kill the cannons, work on clearing the high ground first and then pick off what you can before moving to the low ground. If he opens cannons like that his gas will be much behind yours, so if he's got 8 voids you should have gas to go archons in response.
Man I used to be in the same situation as you, what really helped was finding Apollo's starcraft tutorials on youtube, look them up. He will show you many games as protoss and teach you safe build orders where you can use perfect scout timings to check for any sort of cheese or early aggression. It's also a great way to see what to do in each and every situation.
Cheesing is a part of the game, learn to live with it, accept it, then incorporate it.
If you're getting really frustrated just do what I do;
Start queing up for unranked 1v1 play, and just cheese. Cheese every game. If your opponent scouts it or you see that they're getting appropriately prepared, just gg and move to the next game. You'll start to learn how to defend the cheeses appropriately so that when you're de-stressed you can go back to ranked and defend the cheese yourself.
any kind of rush cheeses feel frustrating but you gotta realise they make a lot of sacrifices to econ and other tech to do the rush so just keep calm and keep defending then beat them and insinuate intercourse with their mother was of below average quality due to underperformance on her part gg
