Of course the above is slightly lengthy by for all intents and purposes it demonstrates what I mean. There are of course simpler ways it could be done. e.g. [PID]9083[/PID] or perhaps a very simple pid="9083" etcetera etcetera
The real purpose behind this idea is so that players can be referred to in articles and 3 months down the track when they're no longer xGkingStallion but rather the more prestigious ToRStallion they will be referred to in the article by their new name.
While I think it's a cool feature to implement, I'd probably be against using it in articles and such. I quite like reading older news items and seeing what's changed over time. It also wouldn't make sense really if it was anything to do with results, because when they put up those results, they were representing their team/clan at the time, and I don't think that's something that should just be forgotten.
I went off on a tangent lol, it's still a cool idea!
I think its a cool feature tho especially for players.
Maybe in the future it can be linked to this secret project are working on so the code will generate his current name which will take you to a specific players page where you can see all his _______ and ________ !
is there a way to display word count in the "Message" box whenever you create/edit a thread? That way we can tell when we're going to reach the limit. ^_^
I am sure you have seen recently on the forums a thread about WCS accomadation
Something i would like to bring up is how it was handled.
Intoccabile19 Did such a big thing for the sea community recently by organising accomadation for 28 members for WCS.
This is no eazy task, and is something that needs to be reconginised amoungst the community. I am sure many people are thinking the same way. If there is some sort of achievement on sc2sea that you can give him for this That would be awesome . Even if its just Member of the Month.
Intoccabile19 Definatly Deserves something Like this For doing so much!
And thus the achievement "Hero of the Day" was born.
Awarded to ordinary everyday members who in a singular instance ended up doing something extraordinary.
The first two recipients will be Intoccabile19 for that awesome accommodation arrangement and also to Dot for the tasteless cake idea / arrangement.
Thanks to Tazerenix for coming up with a slick hover effect. Now when you mouseover threads on the tabs at the sides it should display the title and text of the thread much better. Thanks to paperclip for implementing it! Its available to admins while we work out if theres any bugs and it will be available to the rest of you soon!
Update 1:
Big thanks to paperclip for coding in a countdown timer. Now all events in our calendar will have a countdown timer so you know exactly when it starts! In addition, you can use it anywhere on the forums by using this format in the bbcode
[countdown=2 September 2012 1:00 AM AEST]Countdown to 2nd September 1am![/countdown]
2 September 2012 1:00 AM AESTIt is now 2nd September 1am!
Update 2:
Next up, I've added in news filters for the news forum display which builds on what the awesome veteris had coded for us earlier. As i have to rush off to camp now i haven't had the time to fully test it, but it seems to be working as intended for now. You can now configure your news display and hide news you don't want to see for e.g LoL news that u're not interested in. If the demand is high enough, we might even have a "controversial" or "drama" section and we can put all that type of news there so the people who dont enjoy it dont have to see it.
Note: Some usergroups like Admins/Mods/Journalist will not be able to use these filters lol
Hey I'm just wondering the comparability the site has on Macintosh computers and browsers. I can use all features but the quick comments on my iOS device but on the macs at school, it takes 20 odd minutes to load 1 page. It might also be the stupid internet security that run but I'm not sure. Just wondering, thanks

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but for some reason now when I watch embedded stream pages, the chatbox doesn't work, says the dimensions are too small or something and it's just a blank box. Not sure if this is a problem with the site or with my browser.

This is a problem at TwitchTV's end. All their chat boxes (even on their website) come up with that error until you pop the chat out and resize it there. I don't believe this change was intentional as I can't imagine why they would cause functional problems on their own website... but if it isn't fixed by twitch TV then I agree this is a small concern.
Aside: What would be nice is the ability to open up a streams chat from the stream pages.
Another thing that I would like to suggest that is reasonably minor, is having the orange new comment button for blogs. I know that not everyone looks at the blogs but I think it would be great. Personally for my blog which im planning on working on, I like to reply to every comment I get (most of them being compliments and motivation) and checking for comments includes me going into it everytime. About 20 of the 200 odd views has been me checking ahaha

I rekon since Mafia and others have multiple achievements, instead of spamming it up, you should have 'x5' thing either on the pic, or next to it, would make it more streamline
Is there a way to set up multiple chat channels in the chat box? We seem to have a number of discussions about ASOIAF in the chat but want to avoid spoiling others.
When you select a persons name in a thread or blog a menu comes up. In this menu there's an option to "View Public Profile".
This works simply by modifying the current php file you're viewing from whatever it currently is to "member.php?u=number" where number is the user ID of the public profile you wish to view.
In threads this is all well and good but the php file for blogs is located in a sub folder "/blogs/showentry.php?e=number". Naturally this means if you wish to view a public profile you end up with "/blogs/member.php?u=number" ... the website is pointing to a file which doesn't exist.
Good luck fixing it
TL : DR: You cannot click on a persons name and then "View Public Profile" from a blog.
Edit: Note: This is not an issue for the original post of blogs.
I can't code websites so I don't know if this is difficult to implement or not, but with all the recent namechanging I was wondering if it was viable to do up some sort of clantag system for everyone's names that can be changed in your account settings and reflected in your name. Considering 99% of namechanges are from changing clans I imagine this would free up a lot of time for the site admins.
