Overview:
After our successful 1st Hong Kong Esports Tournament last August, Hong Kong Esports Limited is proud to present the 2nd Hong Kong Esports Tournament to be held this year again in August on the 30th and 31st. This tournament will feature 4 games: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, League of Legends, and Ultra Street Fighter IV.
Starcraft 2 Tournament Structure - WCS 1800 Global Event
Prize Pool
1st Place: $6500 USD (est. $50,400 HKD)
2nd Place: $2000 USD (est. $15,500 HKD)
3rd Place: $1000 USD (est. $7,800 HKD)
4th Place: $500 USD (est. $3,900 HKD)
*Qualifying Players for Offline Event will be provided with Flight and Accommodation to Hong Kong
The Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm tournament will consist of 3 parts.
Part 1
There will be 7 online qualifiers in part 1 of the tournament. One Qualifier for the following regions: Hong Kong, North America, Europe, Taiwan, Korea, South East Asia, and China.
(with the exception of HK Qualifier which will have 1 representative)
of each online qualifier will move onto (Part 2) the online group stage. This will total to 13 finalists who will be joined by 3 invited players to take part in a group stage round robin.
4 Groups of 4 will be selected. The top 4 players (based on WCS points) will be separated into different groups with the rest of the players randomly assigned.
Winners of the Elimination Round will qualify for the Grand Finals in Hong Kong.
Players qualified for the Offline LAN event will be provided with flight and accommodation to Hong Kong.
Players will proceed to play in a double elimination format with the Winner Bracket Finalist starting the Grand Finals with a 1-0 lead In a best of 7. Qualifier Information
*All participating players must comply with the WCS Player Handbook rules and regulations.
With the original tournament structure, all qualifiers had their finalists proceed to the Online Group Stage. However with the deadline looming, the number of registrations to the Hong Kong Qualifier have not been up to expectation. With respect to the level of competition that a WCS Global Event demands, only the winner of the Hong Kong Qualifier will qualify for the Online Group Stages. The second slot will now become an invitation given to the Defending Champion, Samsung Galaxy Khan Hurricane.
• Must have a rank of Masters or Above on the Host Server. (Rankings take priority according to WCS points followed by Ladder Points.)
• Competitors must be a Citizen of the Country or a Country within that Region.
• Competitors can also be residing in the country and take part in the qualifier of that Region. (ie. A Korean Player living in Europe is eligible to take part in Europe and Korean qualifier so long as requirements are met.) Proof of residency must be approved by our admins.

Yang “Sen” Chia Cheng is a Starcraft 2 Professional Zerg player and a former Broodwar Pro from Taiwan. His achievements in eSports is widely known and is regarded as one of the best foreigners able to win versus the top Korean professionals, in his days playing Starcraft Brood War, and today in Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm. He currently sits tied at rank #51 on the WCS 2014 Global Standings.
Our second Invitee is none other than Grubby!
Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen is a Starcraft 2 Professional Protoss Player and a former WarCraft III Professional playing Orc. Grubby’s achievements speaks for themselves and leaving his Legendary Warcraft III status behind when Starcraft 2 was released, he is now a top Starcraft 2 Protoss. He currently sits tied at rank #62 on the WCS 2014 Global Standings.
Our third and final Invitee is the defending champion himself, Samsung Galaxy Khan Hurricane.
As a young budding star in the Starcraft 2 scene, Nam Ki Woong is playing in the Starcraft 2 Proleague in Korea. After a year to continue to grow and improve, we are excited to invite him back for this year’s tournament! He currently sits at rank #164 on the WCS 2014 Global Standings.
CheeseHeadLogic is a Russian born bilingual caster. Currently resides in beautiful Colorado, USA. Has been broadcasting for around 3 years now including events such as DH-Open, ASUS ROG, RedBull BG, NeoTV StarLeague, Shoutcraft America, StarsWar League, and of course Hong Kong Esports 2013. Works for the Collegiate Star League as a production manager/caster as well, recently casting the season 7 finals at MLG Anaheim. Former teams include Quantic Gaming, and Empire. Also broadcasts Dota2 on the side.
BreAKerRush is the first American without any ethnic Chinese heritage to join Taiwan's Rush clan, the first clan that Sen and many other Taiwanese pros have ever joined. His university major is Chinese, he works with Neo TV, WCG in China, Taiwan eSports League, Intel Extreme Masters, and any other leagues in the Chinese-speaking diaspora to help further globalize eSports.

Regarding the situation with not paying out players we had released a statement on the TL Thread. In the case with HuK, we have sorted it out and HuK has tweeted the issue was resolved. It was an error on our part and he was the only case with this issue. All other players had been paid out within weeks of the competition ending.
